Disclaimer: I do not own X-Men. Don't sue.
A/N: This is what I have been waiting for ever since I began writing New Beginnings. Oh, and never mind the OC that I have added. She is just a plot devise. And even though this is a sequel, the first part probably isn't necessary to read to understand.
Nightmares Realized
Chapter One
She watched as the man referred to as Weapon X explored the deserted aboveground base of Alkali Lake. The way he had been described to her, she had expected a blackened soul, incapable of receiving the healing power of love or to give it. But then, that was stupid of her. Had that been the case, she wouldn't have been forced to watch him by that horrible man.
Talk about blackened souls. He and his son had the blackest she had ever seen. Hatred and fear had created an impenetrable shroud around them that had eventually been absorbed into their very beings. She felt a twinge of pity for them, but there was nothing she could do for her. She couldn't heal either of them— one of them had no ailment while the other would not receive it.
It was a credit to her selfless nature that she would even consider helping such a horrible man. After all, he was holding her and her husband against their wills, forcing her husband to do awful things with the mind control serum he had developed using his son. The only thing that had saved her from being subjected to the same thing was the fact that the mind control actually blocked her powers. Not that it was any help to her. She was a pacifist, a healer, and would do anything for her husband.
But she did not want to do this. The soul of the man before her was a vibrant, shining thing with many bonds linking him to those he cared about. One tie in particular outshone all the others. It pulsed with a life of its own, and she could tell that it was what this man lived for.
Hating herself for doing it, she followed the bond. With her spiritual eye, she saw the object of the man's affections. He was a tall, lean man, with dark hair and… no eyes? No, that wasn't right, he had eyes, but to see them was dangerous. Why? She delved deeper, ignoring the soul of the man she was near physically to focus on one that was far away.
She saw a shadow of an accident, a trauma forgotten but still scarring the soul, damaging its vessel. She wanted to help, but she could do nothing from this distance. In fact, what she would do next would probably cause the death of one or both of these men. However, she had no choice…

Logan smiled as he entered the mansion to the greetings of Marie. The girl had become like a daughter to him, and he was happy that she had seemed to settle in well here at Xavier's school.
"Well, look who's come back, just in time," Storm greeted, coming down the stairs and looking as radiant and regal as ever.
He raised an eyebrow as Jean followed her. "For what?"
"We need a babysitter," Jean replied, smiling.
"Jean and I are going to Boston, we won't be gone long," Ororo assured. "The Professor wants us to track down the mutant that attacked the president."
"So it was a mutant…" Logan mused, unsure before as to whether or not the "mutant" was just fabricated to spur on the many anti-mutant campaigns.
"You'll be here when we get back. Unless you plan on running off again," Storm said pointedly.
"I can think of a few good reasons to stay," Logan answered with a smile as Scott appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Find what you were looking for, Logan?" he asked, walking down the stairs towards them.
"Well, we better go get the jet ready," Storm told Jean.
"See you boys later," she said, walking away with Ororo.
"Aren't you going to welcome me home?" Logan asked seriously as they both stared intently at the other. A smile crept over both of their faces as Scott quickly closed the distance between the two and crushed their mouths together.
"Is that welcoming enough for you?" he replied breathlessly as they parted.
"Oh, I could definitely use some more hospitality," Logan growled, capturing the other man's mouth and slipping his tongue inside.
Scott moaned and reluctantly broke away. "As wonderful as this is, we can't."
"Why not? I missed you," Logan pouted, looking into his shades and cursing them for hiding his lover's eyes.
"Well, for one, I am not one for making out in the middle of the atrium, where any student happening to walk by could see us," he answered in amusement. "For another, the Professor and I are going to visit Magneto to see if he knows anything about the assassination attempt on the president."
Logan groaned in frustration. "How long 'til you leave?"
"In a few minutes," Scott admitted. "I was just going to get the car when you arrived. Sorry."
"Don't apologize," he said, pulling him into a gentle kiss. "You've waited here long enough for me. Only fair that I wait here for you."
Scott smiled and leaned his forehead against Logan's. "I love you."
"I love you, too. Now go have fun chaperoning Chuck and Erik."
Scott groaned. "I did not need that mental picture, thanks."
