Author’s Note: Wow, I’m flattered really. Thank you all for your amazing feedback. :D

NOTICE: I want to make something clear; I’m using the concept of Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori in this fan fiction. I don’t want to lead anyone one that this is my plot line, which it isn’t.

I want to address a concern shared by some reviewers (and me too). For the first two chapters of this story (the previous one and this one) you’ll see how similar it is with the first chapter in the manga

My reason for doing so is because I want to introduce my readers who’ve never had the pleasure of reading or watching Ouran High School Host Club.

The characters of this fan fiction will not have many similarities their counter parts in the original manga have though other characters from the manga might make an appearance.

This will be different from the manga and though some parts of the original plot may appear from time to time, I can assure you there will be new ones too.

My name is Hiashi Hinata Hyuga, but most people call me Hinata.

When I was five my parents died in a car crash leaving me in the care of my older cousin Neji Hyuga.

Despite the twelve year gap between us, we’ve always been close.

Neji isn’t what most would expect.

Since I could remember he had always kept his chocolate colored hair long. He resembles my chichi though he had never kept his hair so long. Plus chichi never was gay.

Neji is…an annoying guardian.

I love him dearly but he is too emotional sometimes. He would be calm and collected one minute and in the next he’d turn into a narcissist.

People would take one look at the pair of us and think we were brother and sister. With our pale skin and white eyes you would come to that conclusion too.

We are siblings, in a way.

Neji takes care of me and me him.

Though sometimes he gets carried away, especially when it comes to clothes for me.

I remember the first time he had to buy clothes for me. It was six months after my okasan and otou-san’s deaths.

I never cared for what I wore, and I still don’t, so Neji had gone off to the mall to buy me clothes alone.

The outfits he brought back were from the boys section. I didn’t care.

Shirts and pants were way more practical and comfortable than annoying, itchy dresses and skirts anyway.

I always had long hair to distinguish I was a girl back then.

It’s funny, when I think about it.

I dress like a boy and Neji like a woman.

People would frown upon a handsome, feminine looking young man cross dressing as a woman but I always smiled and respected him.

As long as Neji is happy, I am happy.

Hinata was still in shock.

‘What h-happened?’ she wondered, staring around the now crowded Music Room.

Girls with tinkling laughter and yellow dresses were dotted throughout the room, each in a group with a Host.

Most of the girls were surrounding Naruto Uzumaki. By the looks on their faces, Hinata was sure they were spell bound by the idiot.

Konohamaru Sarutobi, the little boy who is actually in the third year, was hosting a set of squealing girls who kept offering him cake and sweets.

Sai Yamato was showing off some of his paintings to his group.

Kiba Inuzuka was flirting shamelessly with his.

Sasuke Uchiha was politely smiling to his group of fawning young ladies.

And the last member…

Hinata turned to watch a very handsome young man with strange black glasses and fro-like hair nod his head to whatever one of his guests was saying.

She didn’t know his name but knew he was in the same class as Konohamaru.

“Hyuga-san.”

Hinata stiffened and turned to look at a very amused Sasuke Uchiha.

“I’ve been standing here for the last minute waiting for you to acknowledge me,” he commented offhandedly. “It was like you were in another world there.”

“No,” she narrowed her eyes, “You guys live in another world.”

Sasuke laughed and it struck Hinata as odd. His laughs were polite and…fake.

“We’re merely applying our individual talents, Hyuga-san. A good host meets the needs of their guest, after all. Take Naruto for example. His ‘princely-ness’ attracts most of the girls here at Konoha.”

“I bet,” she breathed before asking loudly, “And does your fake-ness attract as much?”

Hinata watched him, waiting for some other emotion to play across his face. All she saw was a polite smile and cold eyes.

“I don’t understand what you mean, Hyuga-san.”

She frowned. “You don’t smile much. Well…you smile but it’s always guarded and trained. Just like your laugh. It’s fake.”

For a second Hinata swore his eyes widened but then she blinked and it was gone.

“Well as interesting as this is, I’m afraid I don’t have much time to spare so I’ll get right to the reason as to why I’m wasting my Hosting hours speaking to you.”

Oh yes, Sasuke Uchiha was definitely on her to kill list.

“You’ll be doing basic chores,” he continued looking at his notes, “like errands and so forth. You can refuse of course, and leave…but the Uchiha reach is long and wide…”

As soon as he uttered those words, from the corner of her eyes Hinata noticed men in black suits standing at attention.

She sweat dropped and then blanched at a totally different smile plastered on his face.

‘A devil’s smile,’ she thought before yelping at a blast of warm breath at her ear.

“You’ve got eighty thousand dollars of chores to do funny-oka! Not to mention you have nothing to offer a girl!” Naruto added.

“Eep! Stop that!”

“Don’t care for that particular technique?”

I don’t care for any techniques!” Hinata fumed, clutching at her chest.

I found my heart beating terribly fast in my chest every time Naruto no baka sprung up on me with one of his techniques.

I don’t know why but that guy…

“How a man or woman looks is irrelevant anyway right?” Hinata stated. “It’s what inside what counts.”

“Yes well…”

For a moment he had looked shock and I humored myself thinking that he might take me seriously.

Unfortunately…

“That’s true…but it is so cruel how Kami blesses so few with looks like mine, perfection inside and out! You can console yourself with thinking like that!” he declared, striking a pose with his backhand to his forehead.

Hinata gripped the wall for support. ‘He’s so…so…what’s the word? No, not bothersome…it means that but more…’

“Ah ha!” she punched her fist into her hand in victory. “I got it!”

Naruto snapped out of his trance and pushed his face closer to hers. “Got what?”

Pointing her finger to his nose Hinata said victoriously, “You’re annoying!”

Naruto froze, face blank.

“That’s telling him!” shouted Kiba from across the room and when she blinked; she was staring at Naruto’s back as he crouched on the floor in a corner.

“Erm,” realizing she was a tad bit too blunt Hinata walked closer to his form. “Naruto-senpai...I-”

King,” He emphasized, “They call me King...you too or I don’t know you!"

“O-okay…King…I’m sorry,” Hinata apologized stiffly wondering exactly how big his ego is.

Naruto huffed and turned away.

“Your request list is backing up sire,” Sasuke innocently stated, whacking the blond on his head with his clipboard.

Rolling her eyes, Hinata slouched.

“I just wanted someplace quiet to study,” she moaned to herself.

“Yeah? What about home?” Naruto asked, pouting at Sasuke.

“Neji usually gets on my nerves,” she responded absently.

“Neji?” asked Sasuke, an eyebrow arched in question. “Is he your lover?”

Hinata rolled her eyes, “For your information Sasuke-senpai, he’s my guardian.”

“Ah.” Naruto nodded his head. “Guess that puts a cramp on things, ne?”

Hinata smiled and uttered softly, “It’s not…like that. Things have just been hard, ya know? I-I rather not be a-a burden. He was stuck with taking care of a five year old when he was seventeen…he never complained or treated me badly. He raised me for the last ten years…I want to give him room to live his life now, even if it’s just for a little time.”

“Hmm…I’d say that’s pathetic…”

“What? No it isn’t!”

“A burden? Did you have to subsist on rice and horse radish because…”

Just as she had expected, The King didn’t hear one word that she had just said.

Hinata tuned him out. ‘I’m learning,’ she thought. ‘I’m learning when to ignore the King.’

“Very well! I’ll cut you a deal!!”

Snapping back to attention, all Hinata could do was mutter, “Huh?”

One hundred customers and I’ll waive your debt to the Host Club!” Naruto exclaimed and Hinata could only blink.

“Your appearance makes that task utterly hopeless but I will try to transform you into…every girls’ fantasy commoner who will sweep them off their royal feet!”

Suddenly I was thrown off course. It was like I was pushed into another universe. Dread was taking hold of me as his plans became clear in my mind.

“Yes! I can see it now; you’ll be the star host!” I…

I don’t want to!

I’ll dust, scrub floors…anything but that!

And so, Hinata turned away from the raving blond and silently cried wondering if there was some higher being out to get her.

The motto of the Host Club is to be strong and distinguished.

“Err, sorry to keep you waiting-”

NO! Wrong! You have to speak elegantly and suave!”

“I-I’m sorry to h-have kept you waiting, l-ladies?”

“More suave-y if you please! And stop stuttering, they are ladies not monsters!”

“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting ladies…” KLANG!

Wrong!

“What did I do now?!”

“You don’t slam the drink down on the table! When you put down your glass, cushion it with your pinky! You eliminate the harsh sound and you show some grace!”

“So…it makes it less annoying?”

“NO!”

-

-

-

-

-

Slumping in a seat, very far away from one deranged blond hell bent on turning her into a suave host, Hinata was uncharacteristically tired.

Imagine her surprise when a paper was thrust into her face.

“W-wha…?”

Raising her head, Hinata was greeted with the sight of one smirking Sasuke Uchiha before he turned away and walked back to his designated group.

Blinking in confusion, she stared down at the list in her lap. Scanning the contents of it, her eyebrows twitched in annoyance.

A…grocery list?!

“I’ve heard, Sasuke-kun that the Host Club has taken in a stray…”

A flip of red hair and curious eyes sought his attention. Leaning back against his chair, the said male drank some more tea before smiling politely at his regular Miss Karin Ayano.

Dark eyes studied the form of the remarkably pretty young lady seated next to him and he responded carefully, “Ah, yes. Hyuga-san? It seems Naruto no baka is quite adamant about taking care of our poor kitten. If I remember correctly his own words were, ‘we can’t let this kitten fend for himself!’.”

Miss Karin laughed and narrowed her eyes playfully on him. “Well…that is mighty big of you…all, Sasuke-kun.”

“So it is.”

Harsh panting distracted the pair and when they glanced at the door ‘lo and behold who was out of breath looking as if he had just ran a marathon.

Karin’s eyebrows rose as she took in the disheveled appearance of the lanky teenager. Hair as dark as midnight but with a touch of purple looked as if a fork had just been raked through it. It was messily cut, some strands longer than others. The boy’s face was hidden behind large old fashioned specs and his bangs fell lightly near his eyes, making it hard for her to figure out his eye color. A skinny frame was drowned in baggy slacks and a tattered sweater.

All in all, the boy was nothing special to look at.

“Ah. It seems the kitten has returned,” came Naruto’s teasing voice.

‘Kitten?’ Hinata sweat dropped.

“Find everything?” asked Sasuke and Karin started at the twinkle in his eyes.

I was ordered to buy items on the list, which I did but when I returned I discovered something about the students at Konoha High School…

Handing the bag over to let the Uchiha inspect it, Hinata frowned at the disapproving glare she was receiving from the red head next to Sasuke.

Hinata watched in confusion as Sasuke pulled out a bottle from the bag with a very curious expression on his face. “Hyuga-san,” he started, peering at her from long eye lashes that belonged on a girl, “What is this?”

Hinata started. “It’s coffee. It was on the list…”

“Eh? Ground coffee?” Naruto mumbled, peering at the bottle over Sasuke’s shoulder.

With a blank expression of indifference Hinata said, “Not ground…instant coffee.”

“Instant…”

“…coffee?”

And all hell broke loose when both second years uttered those words in shock.

I discovered how incredibly naïve and ignorant they are to the world outside theirs.

“Oh my! The one where you only have to pour hot water?!”

“I’ve heard about it but never seen it…”

“It’s true! Poor people have no time to ground their beans!

“How proletarian!!”

“I’ve always wanted to try it…”

“Is that even safe?”

“My father would freak…”

Hinata exploded, not liking another minute of hearing them go on and on about instant coffee. “OKAY! I get the point; I’ll go buy the expensive stuff!!”

She wasn’t heard though. The rest of them were crowded around a table with Naruto holding up the bottle as though it were nirvana.

“Don’t blame me if they don’t like it…” she mumbled, realizing their intentions.

A harpy laugh sounded behind her and Hinata turned coming face to face with the sneering face of that red head from before…

“They’re just messing around…that stuff won’t suit their tastes anyway,” she commented lightly, chuckling to herself.

“Huh?” staring wide eyed at the girl Hinata didn’t know what to make of her comment.

“Oh? I’m sorry; I was just speaking to myself!” She said startled and something didn’t sit right with Hinata.

“Hiashi! Come and make some commoners coffee for us!” sang Naruto and Hinata trekked grumpily towards him.

Yes, rich kids were ignorant of everything outside their world of wealth and lineage.

“Hi-chan?”

Hinata turned around to see Konohamaru clutching a stuffed bunny to his chest.

Smiling politely she asked, “Yes Konohamaru-senpai?”

“Do you want some cake?”

“Sorry but I don’t like sweets that much.”

Holding out his bunny he asked again, “Do you want to play with my bun-bun?”

“Erm, I don’t like-”

Suddenly Konohamaru’s eyes darkened when he cut her off. “You…don’t like my bun-bun?”

Grabbing the stuffed toy from his hands Hinata laughed nervously. “Y-Yes! I love bun-bun!”

“Yay!”

Second motto of the Host Club…a good man must be dedicated to extensive research.

“Listen up! Today we investigate commoners Ramen!”

‘Investigate ramen…?’ Hinata thought faintly, completely floored by the expression of wildness on Naruto’s face.

“Err…senpai-?”

“Each of you will make a different type!” Naruto continued on, ignoring the flabbergasted Hiashi making wild gestures with his hands. “I now hand you over to your instructor!”

When all eyes fell on him, or rather her, Hiashi Hinata Hyuga didn’t know what to say. ‘Instructor? Oh dear Kami…’

“The seasoning is on the lid,” a monotonous voice from behind said and Hinata gaped.

‘He spoke,’ she thought in surprise watching the strange host member with the black glasses.

Snapping out of it, Hinata grinned sheepishly at him. “Oh umm…yeah that happens sometimes. You can put the seasoning under the noodles before adding the water.”

Naruto shrieked, “Now that’s skill! Can I physically express how moved I am?”

Pulling away from his grip on her chin Hinata retorted, “No way in hell.”

“Ah! Shiiiiino! Hiashi-kun is being mean to me!” wailed Naruto but all Hinata could think was, ‘So his name is Shino, eh?’

Sai approached them with a devilish grin on his face. “Never thought I’d see the day when you would come onto a male this strongly, milord.”

“Yeah,” Kiba grinned. “It’s strange really…we thought you were straight but I guess this proves that not everyone is as they seem to be.”

I learned that Kiba and Sai liked teasing Naruto ruthlessly…

“Excuse moi?!”

“Hehe, come on Tono…admit it.”

“Never! I’m not gay!”

“Hey, whatever floats your boat?”

“Yeah, if you want to go for the geeky type then it’s got nothing to do with us.”

“Anyway,” Sai said turning to Hinata, “I wanted to ask you about those spectacles…”

“These?” Hinata fingered the black rimmed glasses. “I lost my contacts in the opening ceremony and had to us this. It was my grandfather’s.”

Sai Yamato, the artist/designer in the group.

Pushing his face up to hers, he studied her with narrowed eyes. “Do these things visually enlarge your eyes? Seriously, not even a girl could have such large and innocent eyes…”

He trailed off when he took away the glasses and Hinata wondered what that shock expression on his face was for.

“Shino!” he snapped his fingers. “Get your disposable contacts.”

“Sasuke, ring up the tailor and have a uniform made for Hiashi’s size!”

“Naruto, get me scissors!”

“Kiba, restrain him!”

“And me?” asked Konohamaru pointing at himself.

“’Maru…eat your cake!”

“That I can do!”

-

-

-

-

-

Stumbling out of the dressing room Hinata glared with all of her might at the expectant faces waiting for her.

Kiba had tied her to a chair despite all her protests not to and Sai started cutting her hair like a professional. Without her permission.

Then when Sasuke had returned with the uniform, Naruto had the audacity to grab her hand and pull her into the changing room saying that he’d help!

She had kicked him out though she had to admit that the cool feel of the school material against her skin was nice. Plus her hair wasn’t so bothersome and only reached her eyebrows and it was good to not wear those insufferable glasses.

Arching an eyebrow at their dumbfounded expressions Hinata snapped, “What?”

Coughing Sasuke replied smoothly, “Well…we never thought you’d be this…this…”

“Pretty?” Konohamaru helped with a small blush. “Pretty Hi-chan!”

“Yeah, you should’ve warned us about your face…you almost look like a girl!” added Kiba and Shino nodded in agreement.

Naruto hadn’t said a word, staring open mouthed at Hinata with stars in his eyes. “I think,” He said slowly, “we should test him out on some girls…”

Ignoring what Naruto just said Hinata asked nervously, “Is the uniform mine?”

Sasuke nodded though Hinata was quick to notice the devious smile on his face. ‘Uh oh…’

“It’s yours though…the cost will be added to your debt,” he stated looking quite pleased with himself.

Yes, Sasuke Uchiha was definitely on her to kill list permanently.

She was sure he’d retain the number one spot for a long time to come.

“Hiashi-kun, what are your hobbies?”

Hinata turned to the girl who asked and smiled causing the young lady to flush and giggle nervously.

“Your skin looks so soft…” One girl stated fawning over her. “What’s your secret?”

“Do you really don’t have a car? So you travel by train?”

Hinata laughed nervously as the questions keep piling up. “No car…no secrets…”

“Why did you join the club, Hiashi-kun?”

“Err…well I…” ‘Shoot! What did that baka say when in a difficult situation?!’

A grinning Naruto popped in her head saying, “When things get difficult, try gazing up from below!

Acting quickly, Hinata grabbed a girl’s glass and gazed up at her with opalescent large eyes framed by long, black lashes.

“Would you like for your drinks to be refreshed…?”

Immediately the poor girl went red and squeaked out a ‘Yes please!’ while others stammered their consent for theirs to be refreshed too.

Sasuke, Naruto and Kiba watched on in amusement and surprise.

“Look at that, they’ve taken to him!”

“So it seems,” Sasuke drawled out.

Naruto shrieked excitedly, “He’s a natural!”

Walking back towards his designated customer for the hour, Sasuke smiled charmingly at Karin.

“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting. Just wanted to make certain that our stray cat was doing well,” he shrugged helplessly noticing her narrowed eyes but the expression on her face quickly cleared up.

“Yes, you’ve certainly turned the commoner into something appealing.”

Nodding his head Sasuke chanced a glance at Hiashi and frowned at the shocked faces of the young women around him.

“Both your parents are dead?!” said one girl incredulously while the others shot pitying glances at the young man.

He saw Hiashi nod his head, a solemn look on his face. “Yes, it’s been ten years since their deaths.”

“Who does the cooking?” asked one girl cautiously.

For the first time since he met the boy, Sasuke saw a smile break through on his face that took even his breath away and he pulled at his collar nervously, Karin was quick to notice.

“I do.” Hinata laughed, sound deep and merry. “My okasan was a great cook and left me plenty of recipes. My guardian, my older cousin, always say how it tastes just like hers whenever I make them…it makes me happy when I get them right and I enjoy it. It’s time well spent I think.”

Eyes soft and shining in happiness, Hiashi gave a disarming smile that had each and everyone blushing to the roots of their hair.

“M-May I request you again, Hiashi-kun?”

“Ah. Why not? It’d be my pleasure.”

“Yes, me-me too!”

“And me!”

-

-

-

-

-

“My god,” Sasuke breathed taking no notice of his customer, “he is a natural.”

-

-

-

-

-

“No affections but just himself,” Sai gave a chuckle at the looks on Kiba and Naruto’s faces.

-

-

-

-

-

“Sasuke-kun, have you no time for your own guests?” Karin asked, pout prominent.

“Ah. I apologize, Karin-chan.”

“Certainly you aren’t taken with the commoner?!”

Sasuke laughed, low and deep though nothing about it was amused.

“Of course not.”

-

-

-

-

-

Hinata was suspicious. Needles in her jacket, a razor in her book…she was sure someone was out to get her.

A day being a Host and look what it got her…her bag, texts, notebooks and wallet thrown into the shallow pond in the back of the school near the gardens.

“This though,” she mumbled taking off her shoes, rolling up her sleeves and pants, “leaves no question about it!”

‘I better retrieve them!’ she thought urgently, passing by Miss Karin.

“It’s so sad that your background doesn’t appeal as much as your looks Hyuga-san,” commented Karin lightly and all Hinata could do was stare at her retreating back in realization.

‘Right now she’s the only suspect I have,’ Hinata thought, walking through the murky water with her hands searching for her belongings.

At that time I wanted to bawl my eyes out but then he showed up…

“Yo Hi-chan! Skipped hosting to go wading? You are weird,” Naruto snorted in clear annoyance.

All Hinata could do was stare at him. Huffing, the blond too off his school shirt and exclaimed, “This is how you do it! You have to get right into it!”

“Its okay senpai, you don’t-”

“Hey, a little water ain’t gonna hurt my good looks!”

…and I learned something about him while he helped me fish my stuff out of the water. He’s a genuinely nice guy if you overlook his exuberant personality.

But then when I think about it, I wouldn’t like him any other way.

Naruto is…someone good.

-

-

-

-

-

“Bad luck Hyuga-san. School bags jumping into ponds…what’s next?” Karin gave a laugh.

‘Exactly what I want to know, what else is going to happen?’ Hinata wondered why the heck Miss Karin wanted her alone for an hour. ‘She’s reinforcing my suspicions if she keeps on going like that…’

“You shouldn’t have bothered Naruto-kun; he isn’t a slave you know.” Leaning forward Karin gave a smirk, “And you shouldn’t concern Sasuke-kun so much either…don’t misunderstand. I’m sure this thing they have for you is a passing interest. Don’t get too attached.

“Is this…jealously?” Hinata asked bluntly, wanting to know that truth.

Karin toppled over in shock.

“Hiashi-kun-! He suggested something…crude and disgusting!” she shrieked.

“Huh? I didn’t!” Hinata protested with confusion. ‘Why won’t she admit the truth?’

“Barbarian! Someone needs to throw this commoner-!” Karin sputtered in outrage as a jug of ice cold water was splashed in her face courtesy of one Shino Aburame.

Do you think,” eyes flashing in irritation Sasuke approached the drenched female with pictures in hand, “that we won’t be aware of your activities?”

Hinata’s eyes widened when she saw the pictures. They showed Karin throwing her books into the pond, putting the razor in her book and needles in her jacket.

“Leave,” Sasuke ordered voice cold, “we rather not hosts vile ladies like you who enjoy trying to smear a member of the Host Club.”

Another thing I learned…Uchiha Sasuke wasn’t as bad as he seems…

“I HATE YOU ALL!” Karin cried, storming out the third Music Room.

“Princesses like that pop up time to time,” Sai muttered with a helpless shrug.

“Now,” Sasuke turned to Hinata with his mouth set in a line. “Your debt is raised to one thousand customers.”

(The chaos of the Host Club strikes and kicks me back to square one.)

“WHAT?!” Hinata shrieked. “WHY?!I opened one door and I’m cursed!

Smirking at her distress the raven hair explained, “You made me lose one of my regulars and put Naruto’s ‘exquisite body’ through menial labor.”

“Don’t worry though,” he smiled and for once it was a true and pleasant smile, “I’m sure that you’ll manage it.”

Even if he isn’t as bad as he seems…Sasuke-senpai still likes making my life a living hell.

“Hiashi?” called Naruto and Hinata looked over at him and was surprised to see most of his bangs covering his face though what he held in his hand looked like her student Identification Card.

“Yes?”

“…You’re a girl?”

“Yes…never claimed otherwise senpai.”

WHAT THE FU-!”

-

-

-

-

-

“The fool finally figured it out,” Sasuke chuckled.

“Probably had an instinctual suspicion, milord can never come onto a guy like that,” barked Kiba.

Konohamaru could only smile in glee. “Hiashi’s a pretty girl, ne?”

“It’s Hinata,” corrected Sasuke and other four stared at him in surprise. “Her name is Hiashi Hinata Hyuga.”

Shino and Sai could only smile.

Perhaps this is a start of a new chapter in their lives?
