Summary: Sarah knows that the Doctor sleep walks. Four/Sarah

Sleep Walker

The Doctor had decided that he’d call it a day and head straight for his bed. He noticed that he hadn’t been sleeping for at least four days. Before he got out of his clothes and into a pair of slacks, he bolted up his bedroom door as tightly as he could. At first, Sarah didn’t understand why he done so, if it’s not like she was going to go in anyway. He explained that it was for security measures. He hated having to tell people that he sleep walks, he found it quite embarrassing. Even for a Time-Lord.

The Doctor snuggled his body in his covers, resting his head gently on the pillow. He thought about watching some Buster Keaton or Laurel and Hardy types before shutting his lights off, but passed the idea. He flicked the switches beside the bedpost and snuggled himself in further. The Doctor closed his eyes gently and waited for the world to roll on by him.

The Time-Lord was stirred throughout most of the night. His body became restless, and so did his mind. Sweat ran down his forehead, cheeks and down his neck. Without knowing that he was doing so, the Doctor climbed out of his bed. Eyes still firmly closed. He made it up to the locked door and, one by one, he pulled back the locks. Even ripping one off with his bare hands (just goes to show how strong Time-Lords and Gallifreyans can be, even when they’re asleep).

Finally, he got the stubborn door opened. The Doctor walked his way down the TARDIS corridor, unaware of the things that stand before him.

The Doctor stopped outside his best friend’s bedroom. Sarah never locked her door, so it was easy for him to access it. Sarah was sound asleep on her bed, nothing was disturbing her. The sleep walker made it inside her bed. He cuddled his body up close to hers. The Doctor liked the warmth she was giving out, so he wrapped an arm around her. He made sure she didn’t leave him.

Sarah woke up to find the sleeping Time-Lord lying beside her. She wanted to say something in defence as to why he was sleeping with her? The answer was summoned up when she realized that he had been sleep walking, unguarded. Sarah sat up, sliding the Doctor’s arms away, so she can get more room. The Doctor nuzzled his head on her shoulder, his soft curly brown hair brushing against her warm skin.

Sarah didn’t want to wake him and telling him to go back to his own bed; she didn’t have the heart to. The Doctor looked relaxed, and at ease, beside his friend. She ran a hand through his hair, getting her fingers tangled up with the curls.

“Goodnight, Doctor.” Sarah whispered to him before going off to sleep herself. She felt both his hearts beat softly when he held onto her more tightly. A steady lullaby played for the both of them when they drifted into a world where no one can find them.

Sarah was the first awake. The Doctor was still sound asleep next to her; he made not one sound when he breathed. Sarah smiled lazily and patted her hand over his back. “Hay, lazybones, time to get up.”She whispered softly. The Doctor opened his eyes to find Sarah looking down at him. She bit the bottom of her lip softly and giggled. The Time-Lord was confused.

“How did I get here?” He said with a yawn.

“Last night, you sleep walked into my bedroom.” Sarah explained.

“I did wha- but, I’ve locked my room.” He looked away from her. “This is very embarrassing for me, maybe I should leave.”

“You don’t have to.” Sarah held onto his arm.

He raised his eyebrow. “And why’s that?”

“Well, umm.” Sarah stuttered. “Well it’s just... I... liked your company.”

“You did?”

Sarah nodded. “I couldn’t just wake you up, you were already miles away. Besides, it would have taken me forever to get you up.” Sarah picked up one of her pillows and threw it at him. “Why do you have to be so cute when you sleep?” She said playfully.

“I don’t think of myself as being cute, Sarah.” He picked up the pillow from the ground. He threw the pillow back at her. “You humans can be so silly at times. You think everything you see is cute.”

“Not everything.”

“True.” The Doctor sat down at the edge of the bed.

“But I think you are.” Sarah grinned and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. She pulled him back down, which made him yelp. Sarah laughed. “You’re adorable.” She ruffled her hand through his hair and giggled.

“I accept your comment, Sarah. Now, if you excuse me, I like to get dressed and have something to eat. I can’t have you sitting there cuddling and petting me all day.” He removed her arms ad stood up. The Doctor stretched out his arms and yawned soundlessly. He shook his head and faced Sarah. “What do you want for breakfast?”

“Erm, you best leave the cooking to me.” Sarah got up and slipped on her emerald coloured silk night robe. “You always burn the toast.”

“I’ll survive in making the tea then.” The Doctor said.

Sarah smirked. “Come along, sleep walker.”
