Chapter Eight: Epilogue, Two Months Later

Two-Bit's beat up car pulled into the drive-in just before the movie was supposed to start. He, Ponyboy and Sodapop were sitting in the car; once they had parked, Two-Bit rushed outside to open the trunk. Sarah, Cherry and Marcia climbed out of the trunk.

"You couldn't of taken any longer to find a freakin spot, man," Sarah said as Two-Bit handed her a beer.

"Aw give him a break," Cherry said, smoothing out her skirt.

Sarah rolled her eyes. "No gettin too drunk tonight, babe," she told Two-Bit.

"I won't," he said, before gulping down a beer of his own.

The six of them were going on a triple date. Sarah and Two-Bit; Cherry and Ponyboy; and Marcia and Sodapop.

"Come on, lets go sit in the seats," Marcia said, slipping her hand in Sodapop's and walking up to the seats. The other couples followed, Cherry and Ponyboy holding hands loosely, and Sarah and Two-Bit with their arms around each other, drinking and laughing like crazy. They all sat and Cherry and Ponyboy offered to get them some popcorn and drinks before the movie started.

Marcia and Sodapop were talking quietly, with two seats for Cherry and Ponyboy between them and Sarah and Two-Bit. The 'loud couple' were still laughing over random things, Two-Bit's free arm around Sarah's shoulders.

"Aw hell, I hafta kill myself now," Two-Bit said suddenly.

Sarah frowned, thinking he was serious. "What? Why?!"

"So I can thank Dallas for givin me you," he said with a smile.

She rolled her eyes. "You've been seein too many movies with Pony."

He just shrugged as Cherry and Ponyboy came back with the food and drinks.

"Thanks, Pony," Sodapop said to his younger brother, grabbing his and Marcia's things. Ponyboy leaned over Two-Bit and gave a thing of popcorn to Sarah.

"Thanks, Ponyboy!" she said cheerfully, the beer already making her a bit more happy than usual.

Ponyboy smiled as he sat back and put his arm around Cherry's shoulders. She let him, and he couldn't help but smiling. He and Cherry were together...or trying it out at least, since greaser/Soc relationships were definately not on the top of the charts. Sodapop had found a really nice girl which is what he needed after Sandy. And lone Two-Bit actually had a girl who could stand him all the time. Things were looking up for Ponyboy and the gang.
