Ballad of the White Rose
by BridgitKiido

Disclaimer: I don’t own GX, nor do I ever plan to try. I think the series is in very good hands as it is, to be honest, so why would I want to own it and possibly mess it up? At least if fanfiction gets messed up, the good news is that it isn’t canon.

Timeline Notes: Gin is from episode 71. Rose is from episode 74. Both of them are minor characters that only appear in those episodes, but there are still minor spoilers for those episodes. Oh, and I suppose a fairly important event from episode 104 is briefly mentioned…

For someone I know well…or at least, I once thought I knew well. I’m not saying who or why – if that person is as intelligent as I’ve always thought she was, she’ll figure it out on her own. That is, supposing she ever reads this, which I doubt.

The princess wished to find her prince,
no matter what the cost.
So desperate to find him was she,
her sanity she lost.

She joined Hikari no Kessha
because Saiou, their sire,
had said that those who saw the Light
would gain their heart’s desire.

She’d met her prince in dreams before,
but always as a frog.
She’d kiss him, free him from his curse,
except for dream-scape fog.

She begged the Kessha to show her
the path to her true love,
and Saiou told her that he’d have
hair as white as a dove.

Belovèd, this is the sad tale
of the path that she chose.
Please listen hard, and listen well:
Don’t be like Princess Rose.

So the princess went out to find
the boy with snow-white hair,
and when she stepped outside, she found
Gin Ryusei standing there.

Immediately, she swooned and sighed
and walked up by his flank.
She did not seem to mind or care
that his eyes were quite blank.

Gin looked at her and said, “So you’re
who Saiou-sama sent?”
“Why yes,” the princess then replied,
“I am the one he meant.”

“Then let’s get married, here and now,”
Gin said, his voice still plain.
And two days later, that they did,
within the courtyard main.

Belovèd, this is the sad tale
of the path that she chose.
Please, listen hard and listen well:
Don’t be like Princess Rose.

The princess truly thought that Gin
was her frog prince de-cursed,
due to the magic of the Light
which acted at its worst.

She followed blind his every word,
not questioning one choice,
and soon she found no point at all
to invoke once her voice.

Gin ordered her to change her style
and get rid of her jewels.
Though they had been precious heirlooms,
she followed all his rules.

The frog prince sprite, her former love,
watched on with a sad frown.
She no longer noticed him there;
another’d claimed his crown.

Belovèd, this is the sad tale
of the path that she chose.
Please, listen hard and listen well:
Don’t be like Princess Rose.

Soon, Judai’s dark gifts broke the Light
and Kessha was no more.
Gin and the princess then woke up,
and neither recalled more.

The boy decided he did not
want truly to be wed,
so he quickly left her behind
with nothing but her bed.

The princess was truly distraught
to learn what had occurred,
and worst of all, her true frog prince
had flown off like a bird.

Alone and empty, the distraught
princess did sit and cry,
asking herself why she did join
the Kessha. Why oh why?

Belovèd, this is the sad tale
of the path that she chose.
Please, listen hard and listen well:
Don’t be like Princess Rose.

Remember now this tale I’ve sung.
Please, take it straight to heart.
If you’re invited to a cult,
Do not at all take part.

You’ll likely get in trouble with
your family, friends, or worse,
and then you’ll wonder why your acts
have brought about your curse.

Belovèd, you’ve now heard the tale
of the vile path she chose.
Please listen hard, and listen well:
don’t be like Princess Rose.

Belovèd, please don’t go along
the same path that she chose.
I beg you now, with all my heart:
Please, do not be like Rose.

Author’s Note: In case anyone was confused/doesn’t know the original names, Gin’s dub name is Lorenzo. Rose’s name didn’t change. Judai’s dub name is Jaden, and Saiou’s is Sartorious (which is a very dorky and way too long name in my opinion).

Please, just don’t ask about the reason behind this… But constructive criticism would be very helpful. This is my first attempt at a ballad, after all.
