OMG! This chapter was WAY overdo! Like, by months. But don’t get disheartened because I will never abandon this story! It’s my first war story! :O and yes that means something to me. It’s one of my baby’s. I just had horrible writers block with this chapter. It shouldn’t have mattered though, there is no excuse good enough for my lack of updates for this.

Thanks always to those who reviewed!

Bleeding White Lily

Chapter Eleven: Special Kunai

Kushina’s mouth was attached to Minato’s.

She was supposed to be interrogating him . . . but she got distracted with his body. Her body was feeling things she had never felt towards someone else, and battling against this new intense passion she held for him was just out of the question. She couldn’t do it. Nor did she want to do it. So she gave in, and her mouth molded with his.

Minato wasn’t really complaining, but it was so hard to think when Kushina was with him like this. He was worried for his village and two students, but he also didn’t really want to leave, because then he would be Kushina’s enemy again. And if he stayed here, then she would too. She wouldn’t be out fighting, risking her life.

But that was the life of a shinobi . . .

She shouldn’t be a shinobi. She should live.

“Minato . . .” she breathed against his mouth, their tongues touched then, they were getting better at this. “Just answer one question.” Even though she was giving up on battling against her passion for him she had a job to do, and she wasn’t about to ignore or forget her duties.

He shook his head against hers and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against him.

She groaned, wrapped her arms around his neck and parting her lips from his she threw her head back, giving him access to her throat. She was straddling his lap and they were sitting on the messy bed in the corner of the room. He leaned forward and sucked on her throat, at the same spot where his Adams apple would be.

Kushina tried to think about how to get answers from him but her thoughts were so incoherent, making it impossible to think at all. It wasn’t long before she stopped caring if she got any answers. So it also took her awhile for her mind to register when it all stopped.

She stumbled back and looked at Minato with large eyes, panting slightly.

He looked so calm . . .

“Kushina, how’s it going?” a voice from behind her asked.

“It’s . . . going fine.” She decided on. She tried to calm her breathing and was quite pleased when it worked.

“Well, that’s enough for today. Your grandfather wants to see you.”

She nodded and without looking at Minato again she turned and left. Minato gazed at her back with a curious expression. Their time had never been interrupted before . . . which only meant that her grandfather either had a job for her to do or had figured out that she wasn’t the right person to interrogate him. If so . . . they would send someone else. Minato had to say, he didn’t like that.

“Grandfather,” Kushina greeted, bowing politely when she entered his office.

“Ah, Kushina, you didn’t get any information I take it?”

She shook her head, feeling shameful as she did so. It wasn’t like she was really trying her best at getting this information . . . if Konoha were to do a surprise attack on them they would not be prepared and it would be her fault.

“Ah . . .” Was all he said.

After a few minutes of silence she asked, “Was that all?”

“No, actually. There are some of Konoha’s shinobi gathering up at a certain point.” He made a face. “There are also some sand shinobi snooping around the boarder. I want you to take a team and go to the boarder and get rid of those meddling sand shinobi.”

That means I won’t be interrogating Minato for awhile . . . or ever?

“What about the prisoner?”

“He’s not going anywhere, and I highly doubt he’ll start talking any time soon. We’ll have to think up some torture methods. Maybe amongst the agony of opening wounds he’ll talk.”

That stung.

She didn’t want him hurt.

Not him.

Inwardly, she began to panic and wondered if she could sneak in some time with him before she left.

“When do I leave?” she asked hesitantly.

“Tomorrow morning, you should get there by night. The dark will help you with your cover.”

She nodded. “Hai!”

Then disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Late that night Kushina sneaked into the prison they kept Minato in. He was sleeping, sitting on the floor with his back against the wall when she came in. She tip toed over to him with a mischievous grin on her face. He was sitting with his legs crossed and his hands on his lap, looking down.

Then, just as she was about to pounce and scare him, he suddenly sprung up in front of her, making her scream and fall back on her ass.

“Eee!”

Minato chuckled.

“You . . . you butt!” she growled.

“Boo.”

She blinked. “A little late for that.”

He shrugged. “Better late than never?”

“Ha ha, funny,” she laughed very sarcastically. “Now help me up.” She held her hand up. He took it like the obedient little wife she was making him and pulled her to her feet.

“So what was that about?” Minato asked as she brushed off her backside.

“What was what about?”

“When they took you away.”

“Oh, I just have a bit of a mission tomorrow; it’s not really a big deal. Just have to ‘play around’ with the sand shinobi,” she sighed, she hated things like this. She wanted to be out there and doing something more important, more exciting. Her life had gotten rather boring suddenly. Why wasn’t she fighting more? She wanted to fight.

Minato, on the other hand, wanted the exact opposite. He knew very well . . . bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. Look at Obito, such a good boy . . . a good dead boy. Look at Orochimaru . . . a bad man . . . who still breaths and walks.

“Kushina . . .”

“Hm?” She looked at him and jumped a bit. He was suddenly right in front of her, his eyes a mixture of worry and curiosity, it sparked curiosity in her as well. “What is it?”

“You remember the present I gave you before you left?”

She blinked. “After the Chunin exam?”

After my grandfather started a war . . .

“Yes.”

Does he want me to give him the necklace back now?

She reached in her pocket and pulled out the necklace. She carried it with her practically everywhere now.

“You want this back?”

His eyes widened. “No! Not yet, you have to give to me when you come to visit.”

She frowned at him. “That may never happen, Minato . . .” she whispered, sad by the thought. They might not even make it out of this war alive. Not both of them anyway. Nevertheless, she stuffed the necklace back in her pocket and looked at him.

“I was talking about that kunai I gave you. Did you throw it away yet?”

“Oh, no I don’t think so. I haven’t used it either.”

“Oh I know, could you do me a favor?”

How does he know?

“. . . Sure.”

“Don’t give me that look!” he laughed. She was staring at him with very suspicious eyes, as if he were a mischievous kid that was up to no good. “If I remember correctly you’re the one who played a prank on my student.”

She smiled sheepishly.

“I was just wondering . . . could you take that kunai with you on the mission?”

“Why?” She didn’t want to use up what he gave her. It was a present, it was special.

“Just . . . please? And if you’re ever in danger you have to use it.”

“Um . . . okay . . . Is there a reason for this?”

He sighed in relief. “Precaution is always a good thing in war.”

“I guess . . .”

He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, surprising her a bit. She stiffened for a quick second—on guard, always on guard—before relaxing into his warm embrace. She closed her eyes and let her head rest against his shoulder. She almost forgot how this felt, to feel safe and secure in someone’s hold. She didn’t want to admit to herself how much she liked or missed it.

“You should sleep, you have a big day tomorrow,” he smiled and kissed her on the head.

“Stop treating me like a kid . . .” she pouted.

“Oh, trust me, I don’t think of you as one.”

“I should hope so.”

He let go of her and took a step back. She looked at the floor where he had been sleeping and then at the bed.

“Make you a deal?”

“Sure.”

“Don’t look at me like that!”

Now he was the one giving her the suspicious look, it made her laugh.

“I’ll take the kunai with me if you sleep on the bed tonight.”

Minato gave the bed an odd look. “I’m not a guest . . .”

“I won’t take the kunai unless you . . .”

“Alright, alright,” he chuckled, somehow managing to make it sound like a defeated one. “I’ll sleep the mattress.”

“Bed.”

“Yeah.”

“And I’ll go back home now and look for the kunai.”

“If you don’t find it . . .”

“I’ll survive.” And she left without waiting for his response.

She got back to her room and started rummaging through a box of goodies. She kept the box in her closet; it had items from good memories in there. Memories that she wanted to keep but at the same time was afraid to remember. Digging through it she found the kunai, there was no dust on it or anything.

Staring at it she ran a finger along one of the edges and wondered why he wanted her to take it with her.

Maybe to remind her of him?

She bit her lip . . . This was wrong! She should not be reminded of her enemy; she should not want to be reminded of him either. Yet she does, and she hated herself for it. She plopped down on her butt and looked helplessly at the item.

“Why did I even keep you? I should have thrown you out.”

I should have thrown his memory out a long time ago . . .

Why can’t I? Why do I have to love him still . . . ?
