Prologue

I stopped my black BMW just outside the entrance to Forks High School. I stared at the non-descript building with mild amusement, and for the first time since the change I almost smiled. Almost. I had never intended to end my journey there but life has a nasty habit of coming full circle and my worthless existence was no exception. I wondered if he would recognize me, if he would remember me. I leant back in my car letting my head fall back against the headrest. All I could do now was wait. I was good at waiting.
