Chapter 1: Nostalgia

Namine, a blonde blue-eyed girl of fifteen, is sitting on her bed drawing, pictures into her sketchbook. She sighs happily as she turns back to the page where she drew a picture of Roxas and herself as childhood friends in first grade. The picture was colored by smudged crayons. It was kind of scribbles and scrabbles, but she loved it.

There was a knock at the door. As Namine looked up she saw an auburn-haired, violet-eyed girl smiling.

Girl: “Hey, Namine!”

Namine:” Hello, Kairi.”

Kairi:” The boys are kinda rehearsing, and we want you to join us!”

Namine:” Okay…”

She closed and placed her sketchbook on her pillow, and walked behind Kairi.

Roxas, Riku, and Sora formed a rock band called The Nobodies. Roxas is the lead singer and plays the guitar, Riku works on the keyboard, and Sora plays hard on the drums. They would always practice in their garage.

Olette and Selphie were already sitting in the entranceway when Kairi and Namine came and joined them.

Kairi:” How’s it going?”

Olette:” They’re still setting up.”

Selphie:” WHICH IS LIKE TAKING FOREVER!!!”

Riku:” Great things are worth waiting for, Selphie.”

Roxas sat cross-legged as he was tuning his guitar. Namine looked at him sadly.

Namine: Quietly “Hello…R-Roxas”

Roxas looks up.

Roxas:”Oh! Hey Namine, I’m glad that you came.”

Namine blushed.

Namine:” I’m glad to be here…I love your music.”

Roxas smiles cheerfully.

Roxas:” Thanks.”

Riku:” Okay! Places, people! And Sora, try not to be stiff like last time, I know Kairi’s

cute and all, but-.”

Sora:” HUUHH?!! I WASN’T STIFF!! MY DRUMMING WAS PERFECT!! YOUR

INSTRUMENT WAS TUNED WRONG!!”

Riku:” HEY!! MY INSTRUMENT WAS TUNED RIGHT!! MAYBE IF YOU’D STOP

DROOLING AT KAIRI-!!”

As Riku and Sora continues to bicker, Roxas walks to the microphone. Namine sighed sadly and quietly. “Roxas…” she thought,” you’ve changed…”

Olette:” Namine, are you okay?”

Namine:” HUH?! Oh! Yes. Why?”

Olette shook her head.

Olette:” You just kinda look sad.”

Roxas (over the microphone):” Testing! Testing! Ready?”

Sora and Riku nodded.

Roxas:” One-two-three GO!”

The Nobodies began playing a slow melancholy tune. Roxas sang on the microphone as his fingers moved from here to there on his guitar.

Roxas (singing):

Riku:” OKAY! Practice is over!”

Roxas & Sora:” HUH?! But we’ve barely begun!”

Riku had taken off his guitar strap.

Riku:” Matron is waiting for us inside the house. I saw her waving when she got

came in.”

Roxas and Sora both shrugged their shoulders and departed from the instruments. Olette,

Selphie, and Kairi walked behind them, but Namine stayed put. She walked to the side of the house and headed for the backyard. It was a more of a radiant garden than a simple backyard. She saw Aerith tending the wildflowers.

Namine:” Hello, Aerith.”

Aerith looks up.

Aerith:” Why hello there,Namine. How are you today?”

Namine sat on the stone bench that’s next to the small pond.

Namine:sighs “What would you do if someone you really care about doesn’t spend lots

of his time with you…or even talks to you as much as he use to?”

Aerith wiped her hands on her apron and sat next to Namine.

Aerith:” Is this person special to you, Nami-chan?”

Namine nodded.

Aerith:” What is your heart saying?”

Namine:”…Tell him.”

Aerith smiled as she nodded.

Aerith:” Right.”

Namine shook her head.

Namine:” But he doesn’t even listen to me anymore…even though he promised…to be

there for me when I needed him.”

Aerith could hear a motorcycle motor coming from the front.

Aerith:” Just tell him when it’s the right time…okay?”

Namine nodded. She heard rustling from the side of the house and looked up to see Cloud.

Cloud:” Hey, Nami-chan.”

Namine:” Hi, Cloud.”

Aerith stood up and turned to Namine.

Aerith:” I have to go. Could you tell Matron I said goodbye?”

Namine nodded sulkily.

Aerith bended down as she scratched Namine’s head.

Aerith:” It’ll be alright, Nami-chan. I promise.”

Then she and Cloud left.

Namine hung her head.” I hope so…”
