Two years since the digidestend’s adventures in the Digital World and they all were pretty good friends. They saw one another all the time, practically daily! Of course, some more than others.

Tai was dating Matt. (Don’t be mad at me! I actually think Taito is kind of cute...) Matt and T.K. were living with their parents, who got back together. Tai and Kari had no choice, since they still shared a room. Izzy and Mimi were dating. Then there’s T.K. and Kari, who were still best friends till the end!

Yes, only best friends. T.K. wanted more, but Kari was dating a jock, who didn’t like T.K., Davis, or Ken. So that means...they didn’t like him either. Kari didn’t see it, since they all tried to act like friends around her.

Unfortunately, T.K. could see that something was wrong with this picture. Kari’s jock boyfriend, Jake, was more than friendly to other girls. Of course, he only flirts when Kari isn’t around, which ticks T.K. off.

“Kari deserves better.” T.K. thought to himself, as he sat alone at lunch. He wasn’t alone for long, as Davis and Ken joined him.

Davis was in his usually grumpy mood. “I hate school!” He groans.

Ken rolls his eyes. “Don’t worry, only five more months until junior high is over with! Then we begin high school.”

“That’s worse!” Davis whines some more, but T.K. doesn’t listen. He has his eyes set on the brunette, a.k.a. the girl of his dreams, sitting at another table with her boyfriend and fake friends.

“Are you alright there, T.K.?” Ken asks him. When he doesn’t get an answer, Ken snaps his fingers in front of his face. “T.K.!”

T.K. blinks and turns to Ken and Davis, who look curious. “What?”

Davis scoffs. “Dude, you need to let Kari go or go tell her how you feel!”

T.K. glares at him. “Can you be anymore louder?!”

“Seriously, man. I’m worried about you!”

T.K. was surprised Davis was worrying about his well-being. “Whoa. Coming from you, that means a lot.”

“Also-” Davis interrupts. “Kari’s my girl! And don’t you forget it!”

Times like these T.K. just wanted to knock the snot out of Davis, but he controlled himself. He didn’t like it when people referred to Kari as their property. She was a human being. She had her freedom.

Suddenly, Conrad comes up and sits down next to Ken, panting. “Dang, dude, where’s the fire?” Davis asked.

Ken glared at Davis, then stared back at Conrad. “What’s going on?”

They wait a minute for their friend to control his breathing, then he finally spoke. “Alright, word in the hallways is that Jake and Kari did ‘it’!” He whispers.

The guys’ eyes widened and T.K. almost fell out of his chair. “You’re lying!”

Conrad shook his head. “I’m telling the dead truth, T.K.! I overheard Jake bragging about it in the guys locker room, yesterday!”

“Uh-oh. Tai is going to kill someone if he finds out!” Davis thought.

“Doesn’t Kari have more sense then that? She should. Right?” Ken thought.

Then T.K. stood up. He began walking quickly over to Kari’s table. “This better not be true, or else he’s dead! Cause I know in my heart that Kari would never agree to have sex! She’s not like that!” He’s now at Kari’s table and everyone looks at him. “Kari, I have to talk to you. Now!”

Kari points to her food. “But I’m still eating-” But then T.K. gave her a look that told her that it was really important. She gave him a weird look then got up. “Uh...I’ll see you guys later. And I’ll see you in class.” She told Jake.

Jake smiled and kissed Kari, when they released, Jake gave T.K. a look that said “She’s mine.”

T.K. returned it with a look that read “It’s so over.” T.K. gently grabbed Kari’s arm and led her out of the cafeteria.

Once they entered the empty hallway, Kari pulled her arms away. “T.K., that kind of hurt.”

“I’m sorry, but there’s something you should know, or maybe you already know!” T.K. said.

Kari raises an eyebrow. “What are you talking about?”

T.K. couldn’t hold his anger in anymore. “Did you actually think I wouldn’t find out?!”

Kari looks a little scared now. “What the heck? He’s never yelled at me before...” Kari is near to tears. “T.K., why are you yelling at me? And find out what?” Kari really looks confused.

Don’t let me go

T.K. clenched his fist. “I thought you were different, Kari! Really, but I guess not!”

Finally, Kari got sick of this and grabbed his shoulders, then pushed him against a locker. “Spit it out already! What in the world are you blabbing on about?!”

T.K. removed her hands. “Did you really sleep with Jake?”

Kari’s eyes widened. “What-”

“Look, Kari! Just give me a straight answer!”

“I’m trying to, so shut up!” Kari yelled. “I don’t know where you heard that from, but no! I have not slept with Jake!”

T.K. suddenly feels horrible. “What?”

Kari took a deep breath. “T.K., I can’t believe you! Believing a rumor! Where did you hear it anyways?”

“A guy told me that he heard Jake telling the guys in the locker room!” T.K. explains.

Kari steps back. Her facial expression looks hurt. “He was?” She says quietly. She then holds herself with her arms and looks like she’ll burst into tears any second.

T.K. felt so guilty. “Kari, I’m so sorry I accused you! My angry got the best of me! I’m sorry...” He trailed off. He could tell that none of his apologizes were helping the situation.

Kari let out a sob and slid down against a locker. She put her knees up to her chest and cried. T.K. sat down next to her and held her close. She put her head on his shoulder. “I thought he was different.” She sniffed out.

Now all I want is just my stuff back

T.K. kissed her forehead. “I’m sorry, Kari. You deserve so much better.”

Kari then makes a fake laugh. “Yeah, right! Is that why all the guys I’ve dated are jerks?”

T.K. had to admit. Kari does have a very awful choice in guys. T.K. sighed. “Well, as long as I’m around, no guy will treat you wrong. I wont let them.”

Kari smiled and kissed T.K.’s cheek. “Thanks, T.K. You’re always looking out for me. You’re such a good friend.”

“Dang...still a friend!” T.K. let it go. Then Kari got up and helped T.K. up. “Where you going?”

Kari looked back at him as she was about to walk into the cafeteria. “What do you think? To dump Jake!”

T.K. laughed. “Right. Of course. What was I thinking?”

Then Kari left him there and walked back to the table her “boyfriend” was at. See saw him flirting with a fellow cheerleader. Kari rolled her eyes and tapped his shoulder. “Jake.”

Jake turned and saw Kari. The cheerleader looked away with a guilty look. “Oh, hey. I was just going to go look for you-”

Jake’s eyes widened. “How did you find that out?”

“So it’s true?” Kari tried not to totally scream his head off. “Okay, I’m going to make this clear...are you sorry?”

“What?”

“How do I get guys that are so clueless?” Kari sighed. “I asked if you were sorry?”

Jake shrugged. “Yeah, I guess.”

Kari narrowed her eyes. “Okay, that’s it. You obviously don’t care about me, since I’ve seen you flirting with other girls-”

“Oh, what a minute, that was one time!” Jake tried to defend himself.

Kari rolled her eyes again. “Jake, please. I’ve seen you a million times before! You think I’m not there, so you take that as your cue!”

“Do you think I’m stupid?” Kari shouted. “That’s it! I’ve had enough! We’re so done, Jake!”

Jake glares at her. “Oh, so you think you can break up with me? Just like that!”

Kari crossed her arms and nodded. “Yes, got a problem with that?”

“Yeah, I do!”

“Fine, whatever. Just remember, Jake...I have three friends and a brother who are very protective and always look out for me!” Kari warned him.

Jake looked to over to T.K.’s table and he saw T.K., Davis, and Ken staring at him. He growled. “You know what? Fine! I don’t need you!”

“Good.”

“Fine!” Then Jake stomped away and left.

Kari exhaled and walked back to T.K. and the others. She knew that everything would be alright now. “I’ll always have T.K. beside me.”
