I'm sorry for the big gap in my updating. School's a bitch.
Raine said. They had just finished listening to the Storyteller retell the true story of Mithos’ Journey. They were spending the night at the storyteller’s house. Xaia shrugged,
‘What is there to tell?’
she replied. Everyone was surrounding her,
“Come on, you haven’t told us who or what you are and why you know a lot about what’s going on.”
Sheena stepped in. Xaia sighed, she was cornered,
“Okay, but it is a long story.’
‘Years before the elves came to this world, years before there were humans, there existed a proud race called Verusians. We were the ones to plant the Great Kharlan Tree and to nurture it. We watched as mankind took it’s first steps, developed simple technologies and techniques for survival. Once the tree had grown fully, one by one, my kind began to fade away. By the time the elves came from Derris Kharlan, I was the last of my kind left, charged with observing the world’s progress. I married an elf and settled into the village of Hemidall when it was first built. The elves were not bothered that even I could out live them and they allowed me to stay. I had six children and watched them grow and have children of their own. I helped nurture my family for 18 generations. During the Great War, I was confronted by Mithos, Martel, and Mitho’s teacher, Kratos. They convinced me to travel with them, to help end the war and make it easier for the half-elves to become accepted into society.
After much strain and many trials, Mithos succeeded in stopping the war between Tethe’alla and Sylvarant and for once, it seemed peace would finally be restored. But there were still many things going wrong. For years, the worlds had been developing magitechnology to use against each other. The sheer force of the mana depletion caused the tree to wither into nothing. Luckily, the tree’s seed had managed to survive on what little mana was left within it. More misfortune came when those still possessed by the lust of war ambushed us and mortally wounded Martel. Using my magicks, I tied Martel to the seed in hopes that she would recover, but she fell into a deep sleep. I returned to my family shortly afterwards, tired of travel, of war. I just wanted peace and to look after my family. Mithos was stricken hard by Martel’s ‘death.’ With his mind destroyed, he changed into a monster. He, Kratos, and Yuan came upon Hemidall. I was out in the forest with my smallest granddaughter, gather fruits and flowers when I heard the cries of people and smelt the odor of smoke and fire. I hid her in the bushes, telling her to wait for me. My house, with my beloved family, had been set ablaze. They had been trapped inside. I attempted to save them, but was thwarted by Kratos and Yuan. They imprisoned me, sealed my powers and trapped me in a stone cage, hidden from the world. All mention of my people was erased from all records of history. Then, Mithos split the worlds to conserve what little mana was left. He became obsessed with reviving his sister when she was already too far gone. My granddaughter was adopted by the elves and raised, continuing the blood line.
After 50 years, I managed to slip enough of my powers through the spells containing me. I went searching for her and found she had a single daughter. The traits of my blood have always bred true in the females of the line. Their power is unlimited. I watched her grow and I kept tabs on Mithos and his plots, but there was nothing I can do, even now.’
That was a lot to take in, but everyone had been listening.
“Wait, you’re still alive aren’t you?”
Genis asked. Xaia nodded her head.
‘Yes, I am still alive. I am just imprisoned.’
Lloyd got to his feet,
“Wait, can’t we just remove the spells?”
Xaia was surprised.
‘You would help me regain my freedom?’
They all nodded,
“You’ve been a big help to us so far. It’s only fair to return the favor.”
Zelos commented. Xaia was stunned.
‘I… I don’t know what to say.’
She finally admitted. Lloyd stood up,
“If you can lead us to where you are sealed, I’m sure we can get you out.”
‘Then I will guide you.’
She replied.
