Marked For Death

Jonathan

Jonathan sat in the corner booth of the club, his eyes wandering over the crowded place as the music blared into the air. He wasn’t moving and he had hardly touched his glass of wine he ordered the moment he got there. He had his eyes on a girl who was partying with a group of friends and she was drunk beyond measure, he was sure. Yet even as she showed interest in him she made no move to accept his silent offer. Jonathan was here just to find someone to bleed; he now looked at a girl showing such promise. He had tried to get her to come over with mental power use, but she was so dizzy that she didn’t understand what he was sending her. She was tired, he could tell, but her friends refused to leave since the night was young. One of her female friends got out her phone dialed a number and was speaking into it with such attitude he heard her say, “Come and get her, she’s ruining our fun,” before hanging up the phone hard. It took about 30 minutes when a girl not dressed for partying but for bed, might have been in bed already, appeared. She seemed younger then the rest of the group in fact he was surprised to see that she had made it into the club. She walked up to the group with grace and power it seemed, gathering the belongings of the drunken girl he had wanted badly. The male members of the group each kissed the Sleeping Girl on the cheek and the girls smiled lovingly as to say they loved that she came for their temporary problem. She exited by guiding the drunken girl to the door carefully as a mother would a child. Before she passed the Bouncer she kissed him on the cheek and handed him a wad of cash that any human would easily miss. Jonathan smiled impressed and disgusted that his meal just escaped, but as he made his way though the crowd and he caught a scent of another meal and he took advantage of the situation. He would follow the other girl later, for tonight he would enjoy his meal.

Cody

I was tired and I wanted to have a full nights’ sleep yet to my disappointment I was called in to go get my sister Catherine from a club. I slowly climbed out of bed went down the hall past the pictures that hung on our walls. I remembered that Dad was coming home in two days from the trucking business and all he didn’t need was to find the rest of his family falling apart. Since my mother died it was I who had to care for us and right now it was important to get my sister safely into bed. I was about to leave the house when I returned up to my room and grabbed a couple of bills, mainly 20’s to get inside the place. I was listening to the radio and tiring to remember the way to the underground club with frustration. Finally I passed a landmark that I could make my way to and from the club. I parked among the mess of cars remembering the way back to my car and walked up to the door. The Bouncer raised an eyebrow at my way in but he looked elsewhere as I walked past him. I walked in knowing the group would be by the bar together. I looked at each in turn they were pretty sober so far except for Catherine who was hardly standing. I sighed collecting all her things and as I was walking out the boys of the group each kissed me on the cheek and the girls gave me smiles. I guided Catherine to the door and before I left the club I closed in on the Bouncer kissing him and our hands meet quickly to exchange the cash I bought with me. Catherine stood weakly so I came close and let her lean her way to the car belting her in and driving home. Knowing I wasn’t going to get sleep with her like this. Once home it was true to my thought, Catherine was vomiting every few minutes as I tried to sober her up with water, finally she stopped and laying her down so she could sleep the drunkenness off. I slept in the chair that surrounded the window to her room and I stared out glancing at the clock before I closed my eyes it said 3:30 a.m. It wasn’t till around seven that I awoke in a weird position and a crank in my neck, getting up to shower as Catherine was still sleeping. After the shower I went downstairs to the kitchen and started making her favorite hang over foods with two aspirins on a tray leaving the meal on her nightstand. I went down again and started to make my breakfast along with some extra knowing full well that Neal would be over once everything was set. And true to thought my older brother Neal came in through the back door and sat down to serve himself with breakfast. He looked at me eating a pancake he was chewing on and rolled his eyes back as to say that he was surely in heaven for food so good. He looked around and cocked an eyebrow and I answered his silent question out loud, “She went out last night had to go get her.” This time my brother spoke, “None of her friends wanted to bring her home?” I shook my head and he continued, “She should not have gone out dad’s coming home soon. I’m worried about her.” I nodded and continued to eat after that we didn’t say much just catching up on the past week which he was a college senior with he's own dorm. Catherine is a junior in college and I’m the freshman who was going to be late for class if I didn’t hurry. The day went okay and by the time I got home Catherine was sitting fully awake on the sofa. “Hey,” I called to her and she turned to look at me with innocent eyes before saying, “Sorry.” No more was said about last night.
