Yes I am back with my Chosen trilogy! (Confetti blows and ZukoxOC haters grumble). Now, for some news:
There is no more GusxZuko. Yes, I got rid of it because Zuko is an asshole and I hate his guts right now. Plus, I found another anime guy that blows him out of the water! (coughUchihaItachicough). So, yeah…please R&R guys because I swear to God this is the last and I wanna go down with some good reviews. So, yeah…just R&R and enjoy!
Hailey had a long, greasy pigtail of blonde with a black ribbon. The red cape covered the majority of her attire except for the dark blue pants. Her right hand was covered in blue waves that went up her arm. She was as tanned as Gus now with brilliant blue eyes. A collar necklace of blue silk and a white carving was tied firmly around her neck. Gus had ripped off her green necklace and tossed it to her, which was in her pocket.
“She’s going to be okay, right?” Selena asked.
The girl had coppery, red hair in a horsetail. Her Air Nomad outfit was covered with a cloak but she managed to show off her red, fire tattoo on her right hand. Her eyes had changed a drastic gold color and her skin was paler then before. Ericka shrugged at the question. She was brunette with stormy grey eyes. A white tattoo of wind was on her right arm and like the other girls, she had a red cloak, but her bloodstained pants with matching, cream vest could be seen since she limped slightly from Mae’s wound in Ba Sing Se.
“I think so,” Hailey said without the confidence she wanted, “Just give her some time.”
Ericka nodded. Knowing Gus, the girl would be normal again soon enough. If she was normal to begin with, Ericka added with a mental giggle. There was a clatter on the metal and it made all four turn to see Aang sprawled without his staff.
“Twinkle toes!” Toph cried, “That has to be you.”
Aang looked around confused at everyone. The air bender now had a head of brown hair, which made him look adorable and attractive, if he would hide that arrow of his. He was greeted by everyone, including a lethargic Gus. The hours of drunkenness had taken their toll after their long voyage.
“Aang, good to see ya!” Sokka exclaimed giving him a hug.
“Sokka?” Aang said even more confused.
“Someone catch him he’s going to-“Toph started.
Aang fainted on deck and several winced as he landed on his back wound.
“Fall.” Selena finished hoping to get a laugh.
It really didn’t work. Katara waved them off, and Gus excused herself to sleep. Hailey was sitting on the deck railing with Duke and Pipsqueak. They had found the duo off shore and they agreed to the invasion.
“So,” Hailey started, “What do you think of my sis?”
“Is she always drunk?” Duke asked.
“Nah, just recently since she lost her baby.” Hailey said shyly.
It was a touchy topic for everyone. Gus refused to talk about it and everyone knew it’s the reason she started drinking so much. Of course, Gus was always a slightly drinker since she was confirmed in the eighth grade.
“She’s nice I guess.” Duke shrugged.
Pipsqueak said, “I like her, just need to get her off that damn habit.”
“That’s what we’re planning.” Hailey sighed with a distracted tone.
It’s a good thing they don’t know everything, Hailey thought, Zuko was her best friend and the father. I don’t think Gus would have minded the father thing, but the BFF thing is high up on Gus’ list of honor. She’s not just going to kill him, he’ going to murder him! She sighed, right now, she didn’t want to be anywhere near Zuko.
“Why don’t you get some sleep Hailey?” Pipsqueak offered, “You’ve been worrying too much lately.”
“Alright, see you guys in the morning.” she said with a wave.
She trotted off into the chamber rooms and into the room she and Gus shared. Gus was already asleep but it looked like she was crying in her sleep. Hailey guessed that was before and sighed. Her sister needed psychological help or something, which was expensive. A good fight would get her right on her feet. Hailey crawled into bed and fell asleep in a few minutes.
Ericka and Selena were in their shared room. Both were silent, not willing to talk about what they were pretty sure would happen.
“Think Gus is suicidal?” Selena asked.
“Yup, but she was always slightly suicidal.” Ericka confessed, “She over expected things from herself, like her ‘rents did. Sound familiar?”
Selena gave a sick grin. She was referring to Zuko and his father. The main reason Gus was attracted to him in the first place.
Selena flopped unto the bed, “Keep an eye on her or no?”
“That’s radical, Gus couldn’t hurt a fly.” Ericka said.
“Before she couldn’t, but you saw how she took aim at Azula! She’s gonna kill the entire royal family before Aang gets a chance too.” Selena interjected.
Ericka sighed and nodded, “Let’s just see if her attitude changes. A fight will put her back into herself again, you’ll see.”
Selena sighed and blew out their candle, “Night.”
“Night.”
The entire group was sitting around Sokka who was explaining the entire invasion plan. They would go around and get friends from around the Earth Kingdom and attack on the solar eclipse. Of course, they had one major weapon. The world thought Aang was dead, which freaked the pre-teen out.
“WHAT?!” he shouted, “I can’t let the world think that!”
“Yeah you can.” Hailey said, “Just like everyone thinks Sokka’s a genius, but he’s not.”
He cast her a dark glare but a few people got some giggles or chuckles from it, her response; a peace sign and a tounge sticking out of her mouth. Gus gave a small smile, but she felt weak from all the vomiting. Still, it was something. Ericka shot Selena a triumphant smile. The fire bender shrugged.
“Fire Nation ship! Behind us.” someone shouted.
“The Avatar is back!” Aang declared and took out his staff.
He gave a wince at the injuries and used his staff to support himself, instead of fight.
“No, it’s important for you to stay low and you can’t fight with those wounds.” Katara reprimanded.
He grunted something and everyone that didn’t look like a Fire Nation soldier hid below deck.
“I fricken hate not doing a damn thing.” Aang growled.
“Hopefully, you won’t have too.” Toph hissed.
Voices were heard and then Hakoda and Bato moved off. Lower voices and Toph’s facial features shown with fear. She shot up and pointed.
“THEY KNOW!”
She struck her fist to the metal and shoved the soldiers and general off into the water. Katara hurried to the side of the boat with Hailey. Toph began flinging earth disks at flaming boulders and Gus began to break some. Once broken she realized that it was worse.
“Selena! Get your ass over here and help.” She shouted.
“On it!” was the response.
The fire bender held up the fire while the warm coals were suspended by Gus, who tossed them right back at the Fire Nation ship. Small holes appeared, but nothing to cause major concern. Selena wound the fire around and flung it right into the sea water, making steam rise from it. More oily, smelling boulders erupted from the ship and made both benders work together. Gus broke the stone and Selena shot the fire back at the ships, with some major difficulty. BANG! The side of the ship was blown and the water benders had to contain the breakage with ice.
“Shit…we need cover!” Ericka cursed sending a slice of air at a boulder.
It cut in half and fell uselessly into the water.
“We got it covered.” Katara shouted and made fast steam come up. Both ships ran through it, unfortunately, the Fire Nation ship was deterred from its course.
“Okay, it can’t get any worse right?” Sokka said trying to be optimistic.
Hailey shot him a mean look, “Sokka, the last time you said that, something worse did happened!”
Of course, something worse happened. The sea serpent from the Serpent’s Pass spring out of the water.
Sokka shouted, “Why does the universe love to prove me wrong?!”
“It’s kind of easy to do.” Toph retorted.
A fire ball hit the beast in the head and it turned on the true Fire Nation ship. A cheer rose from the Water Tribe and the kids on the false ship.
“Thank you the universe!” Sokka said giving himself a hug.
“God, Sokka, do you need a girl.” Hailey teased.
Aang stood in the shadows with a depressed look on his face. He didn’t get any action from the fight and felt useless and worthless to the world. Gus caught his depressed look and felt a pang of familiarity and sadness. It was Zuko’s look when they were on the ship during the winter. That same look of hopeless and the need to regain a lost item was deep in his grey eyes. Damn, why did I drink that last bottle of sake? She thought moodily.
She was on the roof. Her hood was up and she didn’t want anyone to see her crying. This was her special place, and no one was going to take that away from her. The stars were covered by clouds and only a sliver of the moon was left. Of course, Gus wouldn’t know that, her head was deep in her knees and her body was racked with sobs. A light jump and Ericka was on the roof.
“Can I sit here?” she asked.
Gus’ head shot up, “Whatever, I don’t care.”
Ericka plopped down and looked at the stars. The hatch behind them opened and Selena poked her head with a pocky stick in her mouth. She had a few more sticks in her free hand and climbed up. Hailey sighed and climbed up behind her.
“Damn it Selena, no more pocky.” she hissed.
Selena giggled, “Who wants pocky?”
“Not hungry.” Gus responded.
Ericka and Hailey didn’t look surprised. Gus was much for comfort food while depressed. She took walks or something else that was constructive, but never eat. It just made her feel worse. Selena, however, let her mouth drop slightly.
“How can you not want pocky?” she inquired with utter bewilderment, “It’s like an-an essential good!”
“In your mind it is.” Hailey retorted with a smirk.
“Shut up.” Selena said in a low hiss.
“What are you guys doing up here?” Gus asked, “I’m fine, not suicidal. Just sad. Zuko is going out with Mae from what I’ve heard and he doesn’t know anything.”
“Whatever, we just want to-“Ericka began.
“I mean-what the hell do I care about the damn traitor?” Gus started to rant, “He was just like my best friend and I had a huge crush on him and we kissed, but it’s over and-and…DAMMIT ZUKO!”
She started to cry again and buried her head again. Her fist collided with the metal roof and left a dent of that formed her knuckled pretty well. The others were silent and felt really awkward. Hailey sat next to her sister and Selena sat behind her.
“Gus, do you need a hug?” Ericka asked.
“Yes.” came the choked response.
Ericka swung an arm around and gave her a one-armed hug. Soon, Selena joined in and gave her a hug. Finally, Hailey (who was never much for hugs and gushy stuff) joined the fun with a one-armed hug.
“We’ll handle this together.” Hailey said quietly, “Screw Zuko and the rest of the royal family.”
“If we see him again, I want first punch.” Gus said, “Any opposition?”
“Yes, Katara and Aang will be right after you.” Selena said with a smile, “Plus, don’t you like that Itachi dude also from Naruto?”
“…maybe…”
Giggles and running of metal shoes on metal made them look down. Sokka looked up and waved. Ericka shot them all down with a happier Gus.
“Aang’s gone missing.” He reported, “Thinks he has to regain some honor or whatever.”
“Saw that coming.” Gus shrugged, “He had Zu-zu’s look.”
“Zu-zu?” Sokka questioned.
Selena punched the air, “Yes! Gus is back and using Zuko’s annoying pet name!”
“Yeah, and now Gus wants to find Aang and slap him upside then head for leaving during a storm.” Gus responded with an annoyed look.
Sokka giggled at the name but they were soon on Appa with Toph and Katara and trying to find Aang. Probably the most interesting thing they saw that night was a huge tidal wave that sprung up when the moon shined brightly at full. By the time they found Aang, it was morning and he was on a beach on the crescent moon island where Roku’s temple was.
“Wow, nostalgic.” Hailey commented.
“Yeah…”Katara trailed, “Look! There’s Aang!”
“Aang!” Toph shouted.
He moaned and came too. He sat up on the rough stone and looked at his friends that were giving him a gruff bear hug. Momo brought his staff up, which had been ruined from the storm. He sighed and looked at everyone.
“I think it’s best no one knows that I’m alive.” Aang said and jumped towards the slow lava flow.
He twirled his staff and struck it into the cooling rock. He jumped away as it caught fire and began to burn. Soon, they were on Appa and off to find some place to eat for breakfast.
