For as long as Zara could remember, she had known this man that made her part of horrible experiments to satisfy his curiosity. Never was she fully out of Whitney’s sight. He was intent on her performing to his unrealistic standards. She knew that she had not been born the way she was now. No. This was her personal hell, with no escape. Why she was so important to him she had no idea, but she had to get out. Even if it meant her life. She did not want to be part of these experiments anymore. It was time she got her life back.

Jourdain found himself drawn to a particular area of the Untied States for the last few decades. He knew there was suffering in several compounds like the one he spent most of his time by. The humans were scared. Not wanting to get involved, telling himself it was far better to remain distant and that until the humans were capable of showing some more compassion towards his race, a few would be allowed to suffer. He had all but given up on life. It was too long of a stretch of black and white for him to remember what it felt like to feel or see the colors that the world was filled with.

The night Zara escaped she knew there was little time and when she thought she was allowed to have her own life her path crossed Jourdain Sjurjen’s path. He promised her a life she wanted after having nothing, but there was something about him that set her off. The darkness she knew in Whitney, Jourdain had to a far greater extent. Had she traded one devil for another?
