Author’s Note: Hey guys. This is a new story, I got the idea from this story that I read the other day, but I am going for a whole different perspective. Hope you like it!
Chapter 1: The Dance
Hogwarts, 1976:
Lilly was trying to pull her green halter dress over her red fiery red hair. She finally succeeded, but it ended up making her hair go frizzy.
“Lil,” Alice said, and she finished curling her hair. “I think you are having slight hair problems.”
“Really?” she asked sarcastically as she ran a brush through her hair. Lilly was slightly agitated, because James Potter had asked her approximately 43 times to the apparition dance. The dance was for the 6th year students who managed to pass the test, and were now able to apparate. She looked at Alice, whose short black hair was in ringlets, and she was wearing a strapless red dress. Her other friend, Kara Mickleson, who had bright blond hair, to the bottom of her back, and a light blue dress with spaghetti straps, and it was very sparkly. Lilly’s other friend, Isabel Marcuss who had golden skin and dark brown hair to her shoulders. Her dress was light yellow, and it went just below her knees.
Alice was going with her current boyfriend, Frank Longbottom, Kara was going with Remus Lupin, and Isabel was going with Sirius Black, who had just asked her out two weeks ago.
“Lilly, why are you even going? You don’t have a date,” Kara said as she dabbed on some lipgloss.
“I’d rather go and be lonely, then stay here and be even more lonely. "Lily said.
"I still say you and James should have gone together, you are so ending up together." Alice said.
"Not in a million years."
"Let's make a wager. Five Galleons, to me if you do get together in five years, and I will give you 5 if you don't end up together in 5 years."
"Deal," Lilly said holding out her hand, and Alice shook it. "Are you guys ready to go?"
The girls nodded, and left the dormitory.
They approached James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Frank Longbottom, and Peter Pettigrew. Even though Lilly found all of them disgusting, except for Remus and Frank, she had to admit that they all looked nice. Isabel ran to Sirius, and he lifted her off the ground while kissing her. Frank took Alice’s hand, and kissed it, and Remus sheepishly smiled at Kara. Kara took Remus’ hand, and they all started leaving the common room. James offered his elbow for Lilly, but she declined rolling her eyes. They walked through the halls, and heard the pounding of music from the Great Hall. They entered the room, which was decked out with each houses colors, and long tables around the walls. Everyone was in awe at the beautiful sight.
“Oh look, the Mudblood’s have arrived,” a piggish Slytherin said, referring to Karra and Lilly.
“You want to say that again?” James asked to the Slytherin, his wand raised.
“Mudblood!” he said, as he spat at Lilly’s shoes. James flicked his wand, and the Slytherin flew back, and hair started growing rapidly from his head, and armpits. One of the Slytherin’s friends shot a spell at James, but he dodged it, and it hit Alice instead. Her dress started to catch on fire, but Frank quickly put it out. Soon, the Great Hall separated into two sides, and spells were firing everywhere. The teachers were frantically trying to stop the students, but their attempts were failing. One loud crash came out of no where, and Lilly fell to the ground, head first.
She moaned as she grasped her head. She opened her eyes, and the colorful Great Hall was replaced, with a dark cold Great Hall. She sat up, and looked around. Everyone was on the ground, except for the teachers. Slowly, people started standing up. A hand was thrust in front of Lilly’s face. She looked up, and saw James Potter smiling down at her.
“I don’t need your help Potter,” Lilly said as she stood up. Now everyone was up. Remus was patting Kara’s back and muttering things to her, and it looked like Sirius and Isabel were eating each others faces. Loud scuffling was heard out side the Great Hall, and the gigantic doors opened, and Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Professor Slughorn, Professor Sprout, Professor Flitwick, Madame Pomfrey, and many other teachers that Lily didn’t recognize. All of their eyes were bulging out of their heads.
“Professor Dumbledore,” a Ravenclaw said. “What happened, where are all of the decorations?”
Professor Dumbledore said nothing, but instead muttered something to Professor McGonagall.
“Albus, could it really be?” Professor McGonagall said. He shushed her, and turned back to the students.
“Could someone tell us, which year it is?” Professor Dumbledore asked.
“1976,” Frank called out. A long, blacked haired man next to Dumbledore whispered something into Dumbledore’s ear, and Dumbledore responded with a nod.
“Students, the year is not 1976, but in fact 1996.” Dumbledore said. A loud eruption of confusion came from the students.
“How is that possible?” a Ravenclaw asked.
“We are not sure at the moment, but we will figure it out. For right now, we need to figure out some proper arrangements for you.” Dumbledore said. He turned to Madame Pomfrey, and whispered something in her ear.
“Yes, I’m sure we could spare some.” She said, as she flicked her wand. Many articles of clothing zoomed through the air, and Madame Pomfrey caught them all.
“These will be your pajamas for the night. Students, it is necessary that you try to avoid the students that are at Hogwarts right now, and to try to keep your identities secret, you will have to come up with new names for yourselves. Each house, go to the head of your house. Gryffindor’s, Proffesor McGonagall, Ravenclaws, Professor Flitwick, Slytherin’s, Proffesor Snape, and Hufflepuffs, Professor Sprout.”
“You don’t think he means Snivellous, do you?” Lilly heard Sirius say to James.
“Nah, Snivellous isn’t smart enough to be a head of a house.” James replied.
All of the Gryffindor’s surrounded around Professor McGonagall.
“Hello students, it is very nice to see you again,” Professor McGonagall said. “Now listen closely, when you enter the common room, you must be silent, and try not to wake up any of the students. The password is, perlifferum. Here are your pajamas, I am sorry that they might not be as good as your pajamas at home, but they will have to do.”
Professor McGonagall passed out hospital gowns to everyone and shooed them out of the Great Hall.
“Do you think we are really in 1996” Alice whispered to Lilly, as they entered the common room.
“I dunno,”
The common room looked very similar, except the rugs and chair looked slightly more worn down. The girls entered the girls dormitory, and all of the girls started looking at the sleeping 1996ers.
“What are you doing?” Lilly asked.
“Looking to see if we can find our kid. Kara, this one kinda looks like you!” Isabel said, looking at a blond haired sleeping girl.
“She does!” Kara exclaimed. She quickly covered her mouth, as the blond haired girl moved.
“Hurry up and get dressed.” Lilly hissed. Lilly pulled her green dress over her head, and kicked off her heels. She pulled on the hospital gown over her head, and ran her fingers through her hair.
“Ew, we don’t have a hairbrush, or a tooth brush, or makeup, or anything!” A girl with brown hair said, as she looked at herself through a mirror. Lilly sighed, and she and Alice left the dormitory.
“Did you see anyone that looked like you?” Alice asked.
“I didn’t look.”
The boys ran into the boys dormitory room, and started looking at the sleeping students.
“Hey, Prongs!” called Sirius. “I think this one kinda looks like you.”
James approached the kid that Sirius was standing over. He had charcoal black hair, and a lighting bolt scar on his forehead. He was fidgeting in his sleep and murmuring things. There were a pair or glasses on the side table next to the bed, and James took them off, and gently put them on the kids face.
“Doe he look like me?” James asked, putting his face next to the kids face.
“Yeah! Mooney, Wormtail, I think we found Prongs’ kid.”
Remus and Peter approached James, and nodded.
“Definitely,” squeaked Peter.
“C’mon guys, lets get our gown on.” Remus said, pulling off his dress robes.
“Ow, ow!” Sirius whispered loudly.
“Shut it,” Remus said, pulling the gown on.
“I feel like a girl,” James said, as he held out the hems of the gown.
“Would you care to dance, Madame” asked Sirius, who was still wearing his dress robes. James pushed Sirius, and he fell onto one of the 1996ers beds. The kid moved a little, but didn’t wake up. Everyone put on their gowns, and started to leave the boys dormitory. Either the girls had already left, or they were taking a long time, but there were no girls in the room. They walked through the halls to the Great Hall quietly. They entered the room, and scattered across the floor were sleeping bags. James, Sirius, Peter, Remus, and Frank got into sleeping bags next to eachother.
“Padfoot, who do you think my kids mum is?” James whispered to Sirius.
“Dunno. Maybe it’s Lilly.” He said mockingly.
“Maybe,” he sighed, as she turned to face the ceiling. He fell asleep, and dreamed about Lilly, and he, kissing by the Black Lake.
