♥Graceful Little Alice♥
PS: The song is called 'Bittersweet' by Plumb. Also, i got the b-day for Edward from LOVE that site!
My mother ran up to Edward and gripped him to her fiercely. I expected her to kiss him or something, but realized how gross that would be. I mean, c'mon. My 40 yr old mother kissing my 17 yr old friend? Kinda weird, don't you think? Either way, things went smoothly from then on. Well, with the exception of my uncle Jacob always yelling at my vampire 'family'. Yes, directly after that, my mother moved us in with the Cullens, claiming to be their maid. We traveled from place to place with the Cullens. At first, I was just the daughter of the maid. Then, I was Edward's twin sister, then his older sister, until finally, I was old enough to be his mother. When I was forty two, my mother died of a heart attack. For a time, Edward and his family grieved over her loss. Then, the loss of their 'youngest son' caused them more heartache then ever imaginable. Edward threw himself into a burning building not two weeks after my mother's death. It was all very tragic, though I can't say I hadn't anticipated it. He was always with her at whatever times possible. Things went down like that even though Aunt Alice had seen it coming. I always knew they would find a way to be together some day. We held their funerals together, and buried Edward's empty casket right beside my mothers. At the joint funeral, I sang a song for them, in commemoration of the two souls.
I've been carrying this old luggage
And it's been really buggin' me.
So when you called to see me
I couldn't believe it
Could it really be?
You need to feel forgiveness
I need to feel resentment
Running down the drain
This bruising chain I've carried
Is the pain that I am marrying today.
Now I can breathe,
And I feel grace, brush over me.
Pours through my skin and lets you in
And we are free.
Now I can breathe
And I feel grace, brush over me.
It runs through my veins and what I taste is
Bittersweet.
Now I can breathe
The clock I always ticking
Bitterness grows by the minute
Why can't we realize
The wounds that we're inflicting
On our flesh it isn't healing
By keeping love inside. (Yeah!)
Pours through my skin and lets you in
And we are free.
Now I can breathe
And I feel grace, brush over me.
Runs through my veins and what I taste
Is Bittersweet.
Bittersweet
When I had finished, everyone applauded politely as the caskets were buried in the fertile soil of this majestic meadow. I looked at their headstones one more time, though I had already memorized the inscriptions.
Edward Anthony Masen Cullen
June 20th, 2033—March 19th, 2050
Beloved Son, Loving Friend, Finally Forgiven
Rest In Peace, Forever
Isabella Marie Swan
September 13th, 1987—March 10th, 2050
Beloved Daughter, Caring Mother, Forever Forgiving
Rest In Peace, Forever
Though Edward's real birth year was never actually inscribed, no one would forget it. And though neither headstone mentioned the other, it would suffice. Their meadow would now remain untouched by anyone other than the Cullens and the Quileutes. The Cullens bought it of as private property and turned it into Bella & Edward's Final Resting Grounds Sanctuary. I visit there as often as I can, and talk to my mother and her love. I wander there today, less than a year later, ready to discuss things with my mother once more. When I walk through the clearing, I see two people sitting at my mother's and Edward's graves.
"Excuse me, this is private property." I said, loud and clear. The couple held hands and looked to be about seventeen or eighteen. Neither turned to look at me, or even acknowledged my presence. As I walked closer, I nearly had a heart attack. The girl had very familiar looking chestnut brown hair and albino-like pale skin. The boy next to her had skin almost as pale as hers, though his was just a shade tanner. His hair, however, was the dead giveaway. It was the most striking shade of bronze imaginable. When I gasped, they turned towards me, Edward's emerald green eyes on me, as well as my mother's warm brown ones. Both smiled at me. My mother turned to whisper something into Edward's ear. He kissed her lips gently before pulling her up into his embrace.
"Take good care of everyone for us, Alyss dear." Edward said to me. His voice was melodic, distant, and ethereal sounding.
"We love you so much Alyss. Stay safe for us. We'll be watching over you." My mother added.
They both looked up towards the sky. A large, golden ray of sunlight engulfed them. Edward's skin, though no longer a vampiric pale, sparkled like a million diamond facets. My mother gazed at him lovingly, then turned to me and nodded her head once. And in a flash of blinding light, they were gone. I rubbed my eyes and reopened them to see and utterly empty forest. I knew I couldn't have imagined all of that, and smiled as I walked away. This had been my mothers way of telling me that she would always be there to guide me, and that I shouldn't feel obligated to visit her morbid resting place daily. I smiled as I walked away, glad that the pieces of my mothers shattered heart had finally, finally been reassembled. I felt free.
