Vila and the Conquest of Space

Vila began writing in his journal. He had just finished a meal in the eating area.

The day had started out like any other day. We had gone down to Space City for some fun and relaxation. I had picked up a new board game called The Conquest of Space. It sounded like fun. The seller was a pretty dark haired girl. We chatted for a little while until Avon came and picked me up.

Actually this was not quite accurate. Vila, who always had a weakness for a pretty face, had been 'chatting' for hours. Avon had not come just to pick him up. Blake had sent the entire Liberator crew looking for him.

As Vila had written, they had all gone down to Space City for some fun and relaxation. Each had gone their separate ways after setting a return time. Vila had missed the set time, by hours. They were all starting to get worried about him.

Avon had been highly unimpressed when he had found him talking to a pretty girl. This was not the first time Vila had done this. "Do you have an inability to tell time, or is that something not taught in the delta grade schools?" Avon had asked when he had found him.

Vila continued writing.

When we got back to the ship, I found that I had received a defective game. Some of the pieces listed in the instructions were missing and it looked like it should really be called Conquest of Half the Galaxy With a Few Smudgy Bits Thrown In. The manufacturer must have made a mistake. But I had a fun time down in Space City. That girl was pretty and she seemed to like me a lot.

"You're a fool, Vila," said Avon. As Vila was writing was this last bit, Avon had come up behind him and accidentaly read the last few sentences.

"Hey, stop reading my journal," said Vila, hugging his datapad to his chest. "It's my private journal. How would you like it if I read your personal journal."

"I wisely do not keep a personal journal. It is a waste of my time. Blake is looking for you." After delivering this message Avon left.

Vila added.

Note to self: Find out if Avon has private journal.

Vila turned off his datapad and followed.
