“Damn it! I’m late!” Naruto yelled, running down the grassy hill. It had been raining the night before and the grass was slippery, but it was the only shortcut and he was already half an hour late. He couldn’t afford to waste any more time. He picked up speed and slipped suddenly. He screamed as he fell down the hill on his back. ‘Oh shit.’ He thought as he noticed a huge pond come into his view. “Why me?”

“Dude… Uchiha-sensei’s lessons are so boring…” Kiba whispered to Shino. Shino merely grunted in response.

“Inuzuka, detention.” Uchiha-sensei mumbled, without looking up from his book.

“E-eh?!” Kiba yelled. ‘How the hell did he hear me?!’ Kiba thought.

“Would you like an extended detention, Inuzuka?” he enquired. Now his deep onyx eyes looking up boredly.

“N-no, sensei.” Kiba mumbled, looking away. Sasuke didn’t reply, just started reading again.

Suddenly, the door burst open, and a scruffy and rather dirty blonde walked in. Almost everyone burst out laughing at his ludicrous appearance. Uchiha shot them all a glare and they all shut up. Uchiha stood up and walked over to the blonde, raising an enquiring eyebrow. “I fell in a pond…” Naruto explained, pouting slightly. He looked up at his new teacher. ‘ He… he’s so goddamn tall! ’ Naruto thought, blinking. (It's not that Naruto's short or anything! Denial much?)

Uchiha sighed. Why did he always get stuck with the idiotic students? In any case, he decided not to enquire any further. It didn’t matter to him in the least. “Introduce yourself.” He grumbled lowly, turning to face the class with an uncaring expression. Naruto blinked. ‘ Well, he’s polite! ’ he thought.

“R-right,” he scanned the class with a rather shy expression, then flashed them a wide grin, “The name’s Uzumaki Naruto! Don’t forget it!” he announced. Kiba smirked. He would enjoy this spunky new kid. He was kind of cute, too. Sasuke sighed, then turned back to Naruto.

“I’m your English teacher. Uchiha Sasuke.” Sasuke muttered, “You can choose your seat. But you must be quiet.” Sasuke murmured, adding extra emphasis on his last word, though he new the idiotic blonde boy wouldn’t get it anyway. He walked back to his seat and picked up his book once again.

Naruto again scanned the class, but more carefully this time. He didn’t even notice the most obvious thing; there were no girls. He smiled and walked towards the back row where a red-headed boy was sitting, eyes closed and his head leant on his hands. Naruto walked to the seat next to him which was also next to a window.

He plopped his large orange bag down on the floor and flopped into his seat. He got out a pencil from his neon orange pencil case, with little yellow swirls all over it. He had written all over it, too. ‘U-z-u-m-a-k-i---r-u-l-e-s’ was scribbled all over it in black ink. He began tapping his pencil on the table, then looked over at the boy he’d chosen to sit next to.

“Hey, I’m Uzumaki Naruto. You can call me Naruto-sama!” Naruto grinned. The red-head opened his eyes. Naruto was entranced by them. They were beautiful. Aqua wasn’t the colour, though it was well blended with a ton of many different rare colours. They looked so calming, yet so sad and remorseful.

“I gathered that.” The red-head replied. He closed his eyes again, regaining his uncaring posture. Naruto only then did he realize he was making a rude remark.

“Oi! You don’t have to be rude!” Naruto yelled, defending himself. He didn’t get a reply from the boy next to him, but his teacher.

“Uzumaki, if you’re not quiet, I will give you a detention.”

“But I-”

“This is your first and only warning, Uzumaki.”

Naruto huffed and pouted back into his seat. He wasn’t going to give up on the red-head, though. “So, what’s your name?” he whispered. The boy next to him reopened his eyes and glared, but didn’t bother answering. “Well?” the blonde asked again. Why was this kid talking to him? Didn’t he know about him? Well, he’d find out.

Maybe if he told him his name, he’d leave him alone. “Gaara.” The boy finally replied, moving his gaze towards the front again, hoping the blonde would ignore him.

“So, it’s Gaara-chan!” Naruto determined. Gaara’s eyes immediately diverted back to the blonde, in a scowl. Why was this kid bothering him so goddamn much? “You seem like an odd guy. But it doesn’t matter!” Naruto flashed Gaara his grin from before. Gaara tried to ignore him again, but he was such a pest.

“Uzumaki, detention.”

“Wh-what?!”

“You were talking; detention.”

“But… that’s not fair!”

“Detention.”

“But-”

“Detention, Uzumaki.” Sasuke looked up from his book with an irritated glare. Naruto huffed.

“Can’t I have another chance?”

“No.”

“Please?”

“No.”

“Why not?!”

“I gave you one chance.” Sasuke turned a page.

“But… can’t I have one more?”

Silence. Sasuke looked up again and stared blankly at the unruly blonde who was now standing up and glaring.

“Very well.” Sasuke replied. ‘ I I’m too soft. /I

Usually Naruto would look forward to PE. He liked it, of course. But the only problem was… everyone here was so damn tall! In his old school, there were a lot of girls’, which half of them were taller, granted, but half were shorter. So he was never the shortest, but here!

He felt rather emasculated in the changing rooms. He was being squashed by all of the others boys’ and his clothes were rather large for him. His shorts were at-least five sizes to big. ‘ I hope they don’t fall off…’ Naruto thought, feeling his cheeks light up as he heard boys calling.

“Hey, new kid! Nice butt you got there!” everyone laughed. Naruto’s eyes widened and he looked down. ‘ God hates me. ’ he thought, rushing to pull his shorts up. He closed his eyes and huffed, walking out of the changing rooms.

He looked at the field. It looked quite nice, peaceful.

Oh, how wrong he was. His teacher was quite irritating. His name was Gai or something. First, he made them run a thousand laps, then do one hundred push-ups and now they had to do basketball. How they did it all in 50 minutes, Naruto didn’t know.

“Okay! Pick your teams! Come on up, Lee!” Gai commanded, doing thumbs up sign. He did that every five minutes for God’s sake. A boy with a bowl-shaped hair cut and rather bushy eyebrows stepped up, saluting Gai. “And Kiba!” Gai said, doing B another /B thumbs up.

Naruto rolled his eyes and brought his legs up to his chin and hugged them. He, of course, was the last one to be called, and they were rather hesitant to pick him. It was like that in his old school anyway, why would it be any different here? He sighed.

“New boy, come on up!” The boy known as ‘Lee’ commanded with a grin. Naruto furrowed his brow.

“I’m not a dog, you know.” He grunted, pushing himself up from the ground and taking a green vest. ‘ I’d have preferred orange… but green’s cool. ’ Naruto thought, pulling it over him. Kiba heard and decided to rile the blonde up a bit.

“No, you’re more of a fox.” Kiba smirked. He probably meant it in a seducing way, but our little blonde was a little to naïve to recognize that tone. He stuck his tongue out at Kiba.

“Dog-boy!” he commented.

“Oi!”

“Oi yourself!”

“Boys! Don’t fight, you must co-operate!” Gai announced, smiling at them, his teeth sparkling.

“Yeah, yeah.” Kiba sighed, looking away from the blonde. He got into position. Just a second before the game started. “Oi, new kid! Don’t lose too badly!” Kiba grinned.

“Eh?!” Naruto shouted, about to run up and punch him, when the ball was thrown at him. He caught it. “Uh…”

“Throw it to me!” Lee shouted.

“No, over here!” another yelled. Naruto honestly didn’t know what to do, but when a boy charged at him, he threw the ball at a boy with long dark brown hair and pale eyes. He caught it with ease and moved to throw it in the basket – and he did.

“One point to Green Team!” Gai announced.

Kiba growled. He couldn’t let the new kid experience the pleasure of winning on his first day!

When the blonde once again got the ball, he was prepared to run to the basket, but Kiba shoved him out the way, grabbed the ball and scored in the net. He grinned and turned to face the blonde, who was on the floor.

“Naruto-san! Are you alright?” Lee asked, running over to him. Naruto nodded, pushing himself up. He turned to face Kiba, glaring.

“What’s wrong with you?! Why did you do that?!” Naruto yelled, right up in Kiba’s face. Though he had to stand on tip-toe’s to look at him properly. Kiba smirked.

“It’s a game. I wanted to win.” Kiba explained calmly, backing away so the blonde would be out of his face.

“Okay, boys, take five.” Gai commanded. Naruto glared more at Kiba, and then winced. He looked down, seeing both of his knee’s were glistening with red blood. He never liked blood. It was horrible. He always felt like screaming when he saw it.

He froze. Kiba raised an eyebrow then looked down, seeing the smaller boys knees. He felt a little guilty. He noticed the blonde boy shaking. “What’s wrong, it’s just-”

“B-blood…” Naruto finished, shaking a bit more rapidly now. He looked pale.

“Uzumaki-san, are you alright?” Gai asked. Naruto didn’t reply, just remained frozen.

“Inuzuka-san, stay with Uzumaki-san and I’ll get his guardian!” Gai commanded and ran to find the blonde’s ‘guardian’.

“H-hey, new kid, what’s wrong?” Kiba asked, walking over to him slowly. The blonde didn’t reply.

After a few minutes Gai came running to Naruto, a brown-haired man following behind him, looking rather panicked.

“Naruto, are you alright?” he asked, grabbing the blonde’s shoulders. Naruto still remained frozen.

“He scraped his knees…” Kiba mumbled shyly. Iruka looked down and saw the blood slowly spilling out of the blonde’s knees. He swore slightly then picked him up bridal style.

Kiba finished PE and Math, which he assumed Naruto had missed. He decided to pay the blonde a visit. He did feel a little guilty.

He knocked on the medical room’s door. “Come in.” He heard someone call. He opened the door slowly and saw Naruto sitting on a surface counter with his knee’s bandaged up. He looked a little better now. He had more colour in his cheeks.

“Hello,” the brown haired man from before greeted. He was standing next to Naruto. Naruto looked up and looked away when he saw Kiba.

“Um… is he okay?” Kiba enquired, looking at the blonde again.

“Yes, he’s fine now. He has a slight fear of blood. He always gets like that when he sees it.” Iruka noticed the blonde looking nervous, so he decided to finish his sentence with a laugh, “Once he got a cut on his finger and started crying ‘Iruka-sensei’! ‘Iruka-sensei’!” Iruka laughed.

“Iruka-sensei…!” Naruto whined. He looked flustered now.

“Ha-ha… sorry, sorry.” Iruka rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

“So… are you his dad, then?” Kiba asked. Naruto jumped. Iruka hesitated to answer. He got up and walked out of the room. Kiba suddenly felt even more guilty.

“I think you should ask him that.” Iruka smiled sadly, then also left the room.

Art. The one lesson Naruto thought he’d actually enjoy in this school. But no. He was forced to sit next to Kiba. He tried to refrain from talking to him, but felt a bit sad about ignoring the guy.

Gaara was sitting next to him on the other side, though. “Hey, Gaara-chan, could you pass me the black paint?” Naruto asked, forcing his big grin. Gaara felt a little suspicious, but didn’t bother asking. It wasn’t his problem, after all. Silently, he grasped the paint and handed it to the blonde. “Thanks.”

Naruto dipped his delicate paint brush into the oozing dark liquid and spread it over his page. “What are you painting, Naruto-san?” Lee asked from the other side of Kiba.

“Just… something…” Naruto replied. He didn’t seem to be listening. He seemed transfixed on the painting. Goes to show; he’s not always loud and obnoxious.

“Hey, Naruto…” Kiba mumbled. Naruto paused for a moment then continued painting.

“Yes?”

“Um… I’m really sorry for earlier…”

It was silent. Though the whole class was chatting, only their discussion was audible, and no-one was talking. Finally, Naruto sighed.

“No, I overreacted, I’m sorry.” Naruto said, turning to smile at Kiba.

‘ I Jeez… talk about mood-swings. He’s such a girly boy. /I ’ Kiba thought. “So… friends?” Kiba put his hand out. Naruto waited a moment, then looked up, tilting his head. ‘ I He is really cute… /I ’ “You’re supposed to shake, dumbass.” Kiba mumbled.

“Hey!”

“Uzumaki! Quiet!”

“Man… I’m so going to kick Kiba’s butt for this… why do I get detention? It was his fault, anyway! And why with Sasuke-teme?!” Naruto yelled. He was talking to himself. He did that a lot. He’s been doing that since he was little He was alone from the start, so he decided to talk with the one person he had; himself.

“Did you say something?” Sasuke asked, opening the door. Naruto jumped, then laughed nervously.

“Nothing! Nothing!” he beamed. Sasuke sighed and let Naruto in.

“Take a seat.” Sasuke ordered. Naruto huffed an took a seat at the font.

Sasuke sat and got out some books and a pen. Naruto was only in there two minutes when he began to get bored. He hopped out of his seat and went behind Sasuke, then leaned on his desk. “What’cha doing?” Naruto asked innocently. Sasuke didn’t even bother sighing.

“Grading homework.”

“Do you like grading homework?”

“No.”

“Then why do you do it?”

“It’s my job.”

“Why have you got this job?”

“Sometimes I wonder.”

“What’s that mean?”

“…sit down, Uzumaki.”

“But I’ve got nothing to do!”

“Do homework.”

“I don’t have any.”

“I have a schedule of each student’s homework timetable, and today, I believe, you have been set Science homework.”

“Ugh… do you memorize all students’ timetables?”

“Only the troublemakers.”

“…”

“Do your homework.”

“Humph! Fine!” Naruto grumbled, walking back to his seat and taking out his science book. He read through it at-least fifteen times, and it made no sense whatsoever. ‘ I Damn… /I ’ Naruto put his hand up. Sasuke sighed and looked up, raising an enquiring eyebrow.

“U-Uchiha-sensei…” Naruto mumbled. Sasuke closed his eyes. He actually addressed him formally for once. That meant he wanted something. “Um…” Naruto looked flustered. His face was bright red. “C-could you… um…”

“Help you?” Sasuke offered. Naruto nodded shyly, his blush intensifying. Sasuke stood up and walked over to him. He stood right next to him and leant down. He took Naruto’s pen and began to explain. Though Naruto wasn’t paying attention, he was staring at his sensei. “Are you getting this?” Sasuke sighed.

“Uh…” Naruto blushed and looked away. “Sorry. I’ll listen.”

The door swung open. “Good day, Naruto?” Iruka asked, putting down his book, making sure Naruto wouldn’t see it.

“Uh… well… I… uh…” Naruto looked flustered still. Iruka smirked.

“Aw, have a crush on someone? It’s only natural, Naruto-”

“I do not!” Naruto blurt out, blushing even more at the sudden accusation.

“Okay, calm down.” Iruka laughed, putting his hand on Naruto’s scruffy blonde hair.

“So, what happened with your knees? How’d you fall?”

“Oh, well this guy ‘Kiba’, he was such a jerk! We were playing basketball and then on the second time I got the ball, he pushed me and took it, then I fell and yelled at him and then I noticed my cuts, then you came and I tried to ignore him the rest of the day but then in art we were talking and we became friends and then I got in trouble for yelling at him, and maybe punching him a bit, so I got detention with that annoying Sasuke-teme and-”

“Okay! Wait, you punched him?!”

“Oh crap.”

“Naruto!”

Knock, knock.

“Come in,”

“Hello, Uchiha-san. Sorry to bother you, but I wanted to ask a favour of you.” Iruka smiled, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.

Sasuke looked up from his book. “Yes, Umino-san?”

“Well, would you mind if Naruto came to you after school for a detention the next few weeks?”

“Hm? Well, yes, of course. May I ask why?”

“Well, I found out that,” Iruka dragged said blonde in, who was desperately trying to get out of his guardian’s firm grip, “Naruto had punched one of his classmates. He needs to be punished,” Iruka pulled Naruto up to his height, which he had to pick him up for, since Naruto was so short, “ I Again /I .”

Sasuke closed his eyes and stood up, walking over to them. “Of course, Umino-san. I will try to teach him more manners along the way, if you don’t mind.”

“Not at all.”

“’Ruka-sensei!”

It was lunch time. Naruto had been ranting on the Gaara all day about his ‘troubles’. And to be quite frank; Gaara couldn’t care less. He wasn’t listening to the blonde boy anyway; he was transfixed on his own thoughts. Gaara snapped out of his thoughts when he bumped into said blonde.

The blonde’s eyes were wide and his face was bright red. Gaara sighed, turning towards the fuss. He shook his head and walked on, uncaring. Naruto quickly caught up. “Gaara-chan! Why were those boys kissing?” Naruto mumbled, blushing an even deeper shade of red. He had to be kidding. He came to this school without knowing?

“Oi, Naruto!” Kiba called. Naruto turned and saw the brunette running up to him. “What’s up?” Kiba grinned at Naruto. Naruto’s eyes widened and he patted the soft white fur peeping out of Kiba’s shirt. “Huh? Oh, you like him? He’s Akamaru.” Kiba grinned, pulling the dog out. Akamaru sniffed Naruto and licked him.

Naruto beamed. “He’s so cute!” he squealed, hugging Akamaru. Almost every boy in the grounds was staring at Naruto now, and not in a nice way. Half of the look full of lust, and half looked like they wanted to beat him up. He was never good at first impressions.

Kiba smiled the blonde boy. He was so damn adorable. Too much so for his own good. Gaara began to walk off, noticing the attention had shifted, when the blue-eyed boy grabbed his sleeve and pulled him back. “Hey! C’mon, Gaara-chan!” Naruto pouted. Kiba said nothing; Uzumaki would have to find out about Gaara on his own.

Kiba leaded Naruto towards his table. He sat down and motioned for Naruto to sit next to him. “Where can Gaara-chan sit?” Naruto asked, concerned. Gaara began to attempt to leave again, but failed.

Naruto noticed two free spaces on the other side. He made Gaara sit on the end, then Naruto sat next to him, and another boy he didn’t know. “Hiya, I’m Naruto!” Naruto greeted, grinning stupidly. Shikamaru grunted from across the table, but it was a happy grunt. Kiba smiled.

“I’m Neji,” the boy replied, “Kiba told me about the incident in basketball, I was on your team, remember?” he mumbled quietly. Naruto pondered for a moment.

“Oh yeah! You’re the one with really long hair!” Naruto beamed. Neji raised an eyebrow. Naruto laughed nervously.

“Sorry, I’ve never been good at first impressions!” Naruto said, rubbing his head sheepishly. Neji sighed and went back to writing.

“Naruto-san! How are you?” a familiar voice asked. Naruto looked up and saw Lee. He blinked and then grinned.

“I’m great, and you?” he replied.

“I am wonderful, thank you for asking!” Lee smiled, waved and dashed off.

“You make friends’ with the weirdest people.” Kiba commented.

“You’re one of my friends’, too, so you’re saying you’re weird as well, Kiba!” Naruto laughed.

Kiba blinked and waited for the words to sink in. “Oi!” he shouted, leaning over the table and getting Naruto in a stranglehold, playful, of course.

After twenty or so minutes more of chatting and playful fighting, the bell rang. Naruto groaned. “Now it’s Sasuke-teme’s class… ugh!” Naruto shouted. He took Gaara’s hand and began to run to class. “See you, guys!”

He’s touching me. ’ Gaara thought, irritated. Though he’d rather die before he’d blow his calm attitude to this idiotic, dumb, annoying, pestering, blonde moron. He sighed.

Naruto arrived at the class with Gaara just in time. Sasuke didn’t even raise his head when they walked in. “Sit.” He ordered. Gaara immediately walked up to his seat, sticking his hands in his pockets.

Naruto ran behind him and plopped down in his seat. Sasuke sighed and stood up when the last bell rang. He called the register, “Uzumaki,”

“Here, Sasuke-teme!” Naruto called, doodling in his English book. He was drawing himself as a super hero with Gaara as his number one sidekick, and Sasuke on the floor underneath him, unconscious, the only writing reading: KO. He felt a shadow loom over him. He looked up and noticed Sasuke above him. He laughed nervously. “Uzumaki,”

“Y-yes?”

“Today’s detention will be far more interesting.”

“Y-yes, sensei.” Naruto pouted. He heard the boys’ laughing. He groaned. Why did he get stuck with such an emo, self-absorbed teacher?

He sighed. This was going to be one long school year.

Naruto groaned. Today was really tiring, and he still had that teme’s detention to go to. He sighed and knocked on the door, the door opened and Naruto walked in, only to be greeted with a mop in his face. Naruto glared as he pushed it out of his face. “What was that for?!” he shouted. Sasuke didn’t reply, just motioned for the blonde to take the mop.

Naruto sighed and took it, then followed Sasuke down the hall. He kept mumbling things along the lines of ‘teme’ and ‘unfair’. Sasuke paid no attention, but stopped when they got the bathroom. Sasuke pointed to the door. “Clean.”

“What?! No!”

“I said clean it, Uzumaki.”

“I won’t!”

“Are you contradicting a teacher?”

“You bet I am! I’m not going to clean freakin’ toilets!” Naruto shouted, glaring daggers at his teacher and gritting his teeth. Sasuke walked up to him and looked down the short blonde.

“I don’t want to have to hurt you.”

“I’d like to see you try!”

“Hn.” Sasuke replied. Suddenly, without being able to assess the situation, Naruto was pinned to the wall, his right arm being twisted behind his back. He fought to hold back a scream. “So, are you going to do as I say?” Sasuke asked. His mouth was right next to the blonde’s ear. Naruto couldn’t help but blush.

“Ugh… f-fine… just lemme go!” Naruto shouted. He was suddenly released, and he fell to his knee’s, glaring up at the raven. He growled and stood up, grabbing the mop and shoving open the bathroom door.

Naruto sighed, checking his watch. “Man… its seven o’clock… jeez…” Naruto groaned, rubbing his eyes. He yawned and put the mop back into the now dirty water. He yawned again and left to toilets, staring dazed at his teacher that attacked him three hours ago. Sasuke looked up.

“Took you long enough, Uzumaki.” Sasuke muttered, slamming his book shut. Naruto grunted in response. He leaned against the wall, closing his eyes. “You can leave now.”

“Uchiha…-teme… can I use your cell phone, please?” Naruto requested. Sasuke raised a perfect black eyebrow, then nodded and handed Naruto a shiny black Samsung.

Naruto dialled a number. “Hey, Iruka-sensei… yes… uh-huh… yeah. Could you pick me up from school? Please? Okay, see you soon.” Naruto hung up then tossed the phone over to Sasuke. “Thanks,” he grumbled, then made his way out of the building. Sasuke sighed and walked out the other exit, getting on his motorbike and driving home.

Naruto was sitting on the floor for about fifteen minutes before Iruka showed up. He managed to drift off in that time. “Naruto?” Iruka asked, and then noticed a tuft of blonde hair behind a wall. He walked over to him and noticed he was asleep. He smiled and picked him up, carrying him to the car.

“Naruto, wake up, its morning!” Iruka called from downstairs. The blonde boy moaned. He didn’t feel so good this morning. He took a quick shower, pulled on his uniform and trotted downstairs.

“Iruka-sensei… I don’t feel well…” Naruto mumbled, wiping his nose with this finger. Iruka sighed.

“Naruto, we talked about this; you can’t lie about being ill just because you don’t enjoy school.”

“I’m not lying…” Naruto tried to protest. “Ugh… forget it… see you later, sensei…” he mumbled, grabbing his orange rucksack and slowly leaving the house. He sighed as he felt cold rain pierce his tanned skin. “Just what I need,” he sighed, making his way to school.

“And so-” Sasuke was cut-off as a wet blonde made his way into the classroom and walked to his seat silently. Everyone was speechless, though Sasuke paid no attention. “As I was saying; there will be a school play in two weeks and everyone must audition and,” ‘ Sadly for me… ’, “I’ll be one of the judges.” Sasuke sighed.

A wave of chatter took over the classroom and Sasuke just sat down and grabbed his book. Naruto slammed his head on the desk and closed his eyes. Gaara’s eyes darted down to the sudden bang and he sighed. It was odd for this screwball to shut up, but then everyone else was talking. Would he ever get any peace?

The rest of the day was fairly normal, apart from a couple of things, like random boys coming up to Naruto and patting his butt, then Kiba looking jealous and beating them all up. Naruto groaned and held his head, then entered Sasuke’s class without knocking.

He walked up to his seat and whacked his head on the desk like earlier. Sasuke looked up from his book. “Nice of you to join me,” Sasuke checked his watch, “Six minutes late.” He added, sighing. He noticed the blonde wasn’t coming up with some lame excuse.

“Get some homework done.”

“I don’t have any.”

“I set you some earlier.”

Naruto sighed and got out his English books and slammed them onto the desk. Sasuke sighed. “Would you like any help?” Sasuke offered after five minutes of Naruto lying on the desk, drooling on his papers.

“Sure… but can I go to the bathroom, first?”

“Hurry up.” Sasuke sighed, waving his hand motioning for Naruto to leave. Naruto got up and felt rather dizzy, but walked on anyway. After he used the bathroom, he felt he needed some air. He left the building from the back and leant over the lake, feeling the dizziness overwhelm him again.

“That usurakonkachi is taking for too long,” Sasuke grumbled to himself, walking over the window the put his book down, when he saw a splash in the lake. The blonde floated above the water for a moment, and then sank below again. “Shimatta…” Sasuke muttered, running out of the class and outside.

He jumped into the water and swam down, trying to locate the lithe boy. He noticed a small body sinking slowly. He swam towards him and grabbed him, and pulled him up to the surface. He threw the blonde onto the grass then got out himself. “Ugh… S-Sasuke-teme…?”

“Why do I bother helping you if you just try to run off?” Sasuke murmured, getting up and walking off.

“Wait… please…” Naruto whispered weakly. Sasuke stopped and sighed. He walked over to Naruto and stood above him.

“Umino-san won’t be pleased with me if I let you die here.” Sasuke muttered, picking the blonde up bridal style. The blonde did look rather bad though.

“I’m sorry…” Naruto whispered. Sasuke was a little confused, for once. This dobe despised him, didn’t he? Why was the idiot apologizing? But nonetheless, he did look guilty.

Sasuke sighed. “It’s alright.” He mumbled. He felt the blonde fall limp in his arms. He looked down, seeing he had fallen asleep. “He should sleep more often. He’s quieter.” Sasuke commented to himself, sighing again.

“Thank you for bringing him home, Uchiha-san.” Iruka smiled, taking Naruto from him. “What happened?”

“He went to the bathroom and I noticed him outside; he fell in the lake.” Sasuke answered simply, staring uncaringly at the limp blonde in Iruka’s arms.

“Is that why you’re wet? I’m so sorry; would you like to dry off here?”

“No, I’m fine, thank you, Umino-san.”

“Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do if anything happened to him…”

Sasuke noticed the remorseful look in Iruka’s eyes. He suddenly felt irritated. Why should some pathetic blonde dobe have a nice father, and then he – Uchiha Sasuke – had worked so hard, get nothing; no-one.

He breathed in slowly and let it go. He had to calm down. “Goodnight, Umino-san.”

“Oh, y-yes, goodnight, Uchiha-san!”

Sasuke walked back to the school and got on his bike. “Ugh… it’s getting closer to his visit,” he grumbled to himself as he put his dark purple helmet on and drove off.

It had been at-least two weeks since Naruto’s incident with the lake. He was gradually getting better, but he didn’t want to face Sasuke again, after what he said: ‘Why do I bother helping you if you just try to run off?’ did he even car about Naruto’s well-being? The again, why would he? They had no relationship. Sasuke’s just a teacher and Naruto’s just a student.

And why was Naruto so bothered about it, anyway? Ever since he woke up after the incident, those words were playing over and over in his head. “Hey,” Iruka said softly, placing his hand on Naruto’s head. Naruto looked up, “What’s wrong, Naruto? You’ve been acting weird since Uchiha-san saved you.”

Naruto looked down again. That was the problem! He didn’t want some bastard saving him! He didn’t need saving. He was alone before; he can be alone again. He doesn’t need anyone. “Naruto,” Iruka whispered sadly. Though Naruto did feel a little guilty; Iruka was so nice to him and he never thanked him.

“I’m sorry, Iruka-sensei,”

“What?” Iruka asked. He had no clue what the small blonde teenager was talking about. Naruto wasn’t one to be silent or apologetic. Not in the least.

“You’ve given me everything I could ever need… and want and I just… I’m always just a hindrance to everyone…”

“Naruto,” Iruka grabbed Naruto’s chin and force him to look up, “You are B not /B a hindrance to B anyone /B .” Iruka offered Naruto a stupid grin, and Naruto couldn’t help but twist his soft pink lips into a warm smile.

“I love you, Iruka-sensei.” He said, hugging him. Iruka smiled and hugged back.

“Likewise.” Iruka smiled, patting his back, “But you’re still going to school today.”

“What?!”

“Naruto!” someone yelled. Naruto turned around and looked up.

“Kiba,” Naruto said, blinking.

“Are you alright? You’ve been away for two weeks now,”

“Yeah, I was sick…”

“Are you OK now?”

“You bet I am!” Naruto grinned, giving him a thumb up sign.

Kiba smiled. He was just a little blonde bundle of energy. He walked into the classroom warily and was greeted by someone locking lips with his. His eyes widened. He pulled away and fell back, only to be caught by Kiba. “What the-” Naruto was prepared to fight whoever kissed him, then his face went blank.

“S-S-Sasuke-teme?!” he practically screamed.

“Hn.” Sasuke grunted in reply, wiping his mouth. “Be more careful, usuratonkachi.”

Naruto just glared and blushed bright red. Kiba pushed him along and Naruto flopped down in his seat. He looked at Gaara. He didn’t seem phased in the least. ‘ Does this guy even have emotions? ’ Naruto thought. “Gaara-chan?” Naruto mumbled. Gaara’s eyes opened slowly, but he didn’t look at Naruto.

Naruto shrugged. He’d get this guy to smile; if it was the last thing he’d do. He sighed and slumped in his seat. And he still had to face Uchiha in detention. That was just great. Just fucking fantastic.

He was currently in the hall. Everyone had to try out for the school play, and he was no exception. “OK, Uzumaki! What are you auditioning for?” Genma asked, then paused to cough slightly.

“Uh… to be honest; I don’t want to audition, but Sasuke-teme – I mean, Uchiha-sensei – said I have to. So I guess the prince or something.” Naruto shrugged. Genma almost burst out laughing. As if this small, lithe, cute blonde kid could be a prince.

Naruto raised an eyebrow at the slight laughter from the judges, all except Sasuke. He was sighing, scribbling down whatever the hell he was scribbling. “Okay, begin.” Genma finally said. Naruto sighed and began his audition.

Detention yesterday wasn’t all that bad. Naruto was silent the whole time, trying to hide his tomato-red face, and that’s about it. Today he’d find out who he was in the school play – if he made it of course. He groaned. He didn’t even want to be in it, but he had a sickening feeling he would be.

He noticed Shikamaru. “Hey, Shika-san!” Naruto called, running up to him. Shikamaru turned and waved boredly. Naruto caught up to him and started walking with the slightly ( B slightly/B ) taller boy. (Who was at-least seventy centimetres taller than Naruto.)

“So, Shika-san, did you get into the school play?” Naruto asked, sticking his hands behind his head and looking up at the sky.

“I didn’t try out.”

“What?! Sasuke-teme said you had to!”

“Well then, he was lying.”

“But that’s not fa-”

“Oh! So you must be Naruto?” someone asked. Naruto looked behind him to see a boy smiling. He looked fairly similar to Sasuke. “You made a main part in the play.” He said. Naruto almost fainted.

“What?!”

“You made a main part in the-”

“I heard you before, I mean… how?!”

“Come with me,” the boy said, grabbing Naruto’s hand and dragging him away from Shikamaru and into a closet.

“Um… why are we in the janitor’s closet?”

“Because,” the boy smiled simply, then pushed Naruto against the wall and attempted to kiss him.

“G-get off!” Naruto screamed, pushing the boy away and glaring, putting his fists by his chest in an attempt to feel safer.

“Is something going on in there?” someone asked, opening the door. Naruto immediately ran behind whoever opened the door. He was tall and had silver hair. What Naruto fist noted was the large scarf covering half of the man’s face. “Is everything OK?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

“That guy tried to kiss me!” Naruto yelled, grasping the silver-haired man’s shirt and hiding behind him. He sighed.

“Sai, you can’t try and kiss every cute guy you pass by.” The man sighed, rubbing his head. Sai kept that odd smile on his face.

“I apologize,” Sai said.

“Hmph!” Naruto pouted, glaring at him. Naruto began to walk off again. “Some people… so rude! Jeez!”

Naruto was currently in detention with Sasuke. He was ranting on to him about the play. Naruto found out that he had to be the princess, and was blaming Sasuke for it. He wasn’t listening, though. “How could you?! You bastard! I am not in the least bit feminine!”

“You have the hormones of a teenage girl.” Sasuke commented.

“What did you say, teme?!”
