So this is my new story. I've been working on it for some time now, and decided it's time to put it up. Please reveiw and tell me all your thoughts on it, i will welcome any praises or advice with open arms. I hope you all enjoy it, i have certainly enjoyed writing it!

Have you ever watched your best friend fall apart?

Have you ever heard them cry themselves to sleep, but have no way to make them stop?

Have you ever tasted the food you know all to well they should eat?

Have you ever touched them and only felt a cold, shivering body?

Have you ever wish on every star, every penny in the fountain, that you could take their pain away?

Have you ever been forced to sit back, and watch your best friend slowly and painfully die away inside?

This was the life of 16 year old Taylor Mckessie, a young, innocent African-American girl with the world on her shoulders. Best friends with the old Gabriella Montez. Yes, you heard right. Old. Why? Because the new Gabriella is the one who is falling apart, she is the one who cries her heart out, she is the one who never eats, she is the one who is dying inside. All because, of one, life shattering moment. They say bad things come in threes. Sure as hell they do! But Gabriella put up with the first two. It was hard, but she did it. Oh no, 3 simple words changed everything. To some people it can mean nothing. To Gabriella, it meant everything. And Taylor had to watch it all happen, the only person fully aware of her situation. And she has done nothing. Because nothing can be done. Taylor learnt that trying to help her brunette friend would only make things worse. So now she does her best to stay strong and attempts to guide the fragile and broken girl in the right direction.

The night of September 29th, Taylor stood at her window, biting her nails for the first time in her life. This was a sign of pure worry, as Taylor began to pace back and forth. It was 11pm, and she had not heard a single word from or about Gabriella the entire day. The ‘about’ was strange enough, rumours were still flying around about her emotional breakdown and it was extremely hard to dodge them. Even on the weekends. Which it was at the present moment. On a normal Saturday, she would have seen her best friend twice, and answered her tearful calls at least 5 times. But today was anything but normal. Taylor picked up the phone, then put it back on in the holder.

“She’ll call.” Taylor whispered to herself. It didn’t help her one bit.

She glanced out the window again, that faced the silent street below. Gabriella would usually be seen running along the sidewalk in tears. But today there was nothing. Not even a fox ran by. She sighed and fell back on her bed, arms out-stretched, before turning herself over to look at her pine bed-side table. She picked up the frame that rested there and smiled. It was her and Gabriella at her sweet sixteen. Her and Gabriella in happy times. They had fruit cocktails in their hand and were laughing hysterically for no reason. Taylor wished she could still see her best friend smile, but her face never showed and happy or positive emotion. She placed the picture back on the stand and changed into her pyjama’s.

“Maybe some sleep will do me good.” she muttered to herself, crawling into bed. After a while, she fell into a restless slumber, her dreams filled with the happy memories of the two best friends.

Taylor walked towards her locker and was shocked to not find Gabriella leaning against it. Now she knew something was wrong. No calls yesterday, not at school, and she hadn’t been on her driveway where Taylor would normally meet her with her. And Taylor had, for once, been late, due to her late night. She pulled out her phone and pressed speed dial 2, Gabriella’s number.

“Number disconnected.” A robotic voice came through the ear piece.

“What?!” Taylor shouted, causing a dozen or so students to look at her quizzically. She glared at them and they quickly went back to their business.

She knew there was no point calling Gabriella’s house phone, as she never picked it up anyway. She sighed and walked down the hallway towards class, but stopped when she heard the cheerleaders latest gossip.

“Gabriella Montez is dead!”
