'Where is Carrie going?’ Troy asked the police officers two days after Gabriella's arrest.
‘She will be staying with her mother.’ the policeman, D.I Stalin, replied.
‘You’ve just arrested her mother.’ Taylor spat angrily.
‘Miss Mckessie, Gabriella Montez is not the child’s mother, let me assure you-’
“Gabriella Montez ran away from home with her baby because her mother started hitting Carrie, Gabriella Montez has Carrie’s name tattooed on her ankle. Gabriella Montez loved that child with all her heart. Gabriella Montez starved herself just so Carrie could survive.’ Taylor yelled.
‘That is a serious accusation, Miss, one of witch you have no evidence.’
‘Speaking of which, I’ve like to give my evidence in court.’ Taylor slammed her hands down the wooden desk which D.I Stalin was standing behind.
‘You will need your parents consent-’
‘I don’t have any parents.’ Taylor replied coldly.
‘Sir, I’d like to give evidence too.’ Troy spoke. ‘She’s been staying in my house, I have the right to.’
‘Fine.’ D.I Stalin growled, before stalking off.
‘She wouldn’t lie about that kind of thing.’ Kelsi shook her head.
‘But how can we be so sure?’ Sharpay shot back.
‘Because Carrie is her baby.’ Taylor said confidently, who holding Chad’s hand.
‘Don’t be silly, Tay, Carrie is her sister!’ Zeke tried to laugh, but none would come out.
‘Carrie is her baby. She told me. She would do anything for Carrie.’ Taylor replied, looking Zeke straight in the eye.
‘How do you know she wasn’t lying?’ Sharpay said.
‘Because she plays with her fingers when she’s lying. She looked me right in the eye when she told me.’ Troy nodded in agreement.
‘It’s true. I’ve seen her doing it.’
‘But why did she say she was her sister?’ Jason asked.
‘That’s for Gabriella to tell you, not me.’ Taylor checked her watch. ‘Excuse me a second.’ Taylor got up and walked out of the cafeteria.
‘What are we going to do?’ Sharpay moaned, wiping her face with her hands.
‘Whatever we do, she’s sill in deep shit.’ Chad sighed.
‘But we can’t prove her innocent. We have no evidence.’ A light bulb went off in Troy’s head.
‘There’s still Carrie.’ He pointed out.
‘She’s two, she can’t even say Gabriella’s name.’ Kelsi pointed out.
‘But baby’s have special connections with their mother. The mothers smell automatically comforts them!’ Sharpay said, catching on.
‘Will that really work?’ Chad asked nervously.
‘It’s our only choice.’ Zeke shrugged.
‘Gabi!’ Taylor said happily, running and hugging her friend. A passing police officer, coughed and shook his head, and the girls sat down on opposite sides of the table.
‘Oh, Gabi, you look terrible!’ Taylor said, horrified. And she did. Her eyes were red and puffy, her skin was red raw from scratching her allergic reaction to the overalls, and she was dirty.
‘Thanks.’ Gabriella tried to laugh, but it came out funny.
‘Gabi, we’re gonna get you out of here. I promise.’ Taylor stretched across the table and squeezed Gabriella’s hand sympathetically.
‘Where’s Carrie? Please say you have her, Tay-Tay.’ Gabriella pleaded, her eyes full of tears.
‘I’m sorry Gabi. They gave her back to your mother.’ Gabriella broke down in tears at her worst nightmare coming true.
‘But she’ll hurt Carrie! She doesn’t even know how to look after her!’ Gabriella sobbed.
‘I know Gabi, I know. But we’ll get her back. I promise, we’ll get her back.’ Taylor said in a shaky voice, a tear falling down her cheek.
‘Promise is a huge word Tay-Tay. What if you don’t?’ Gabriella looked at her tearfully.
‘We won’t stop fighting.’ Taylor said simply.
‘How is everyone? They must all hate me so much.’ Gabriela sighed, looking at her lap.
‘They’re all behind you Gabi. They all believe you. But they know your Carrie’s real mother. The police won’t believe you, but the gang do.’ Taylor spotted the panicked look on Gabriella’s face. ‘But they don’t know the story.’ Gabriella breathed out a sigh of relief.
‘Good.’
‘They’re gonna find out though, you know that don’t you?’ Gabriella nodded.
‘If you say your Carrie’s mother, they’ll want to know why.’ Taylor squeezed Gabriella’s hand once more.
‘I know.’
‘Me and Troy are gonna give evidence.’ Taylor spoke softly. At the mention of Troy’s name, Gabriella’s head shot up.
‘Troy?’ Taylor smiled knowingly.
‘Yes, he is. He’s completely behind you.’ Gabriella smiled slightly. ‘He loves Carrie you know. And he loves you too.’
‘He said that?’ Gabriella said hopefully.
‘No, but I can see it in his eyes.’ Taylor smiled once more. ‘The way he looks at you, how he always sounds so proud when he speaks about you, and he never stops talking about you. You’re his rock, Gabi.’ Gabriella shook her head sadly.
‘He won’t when he finds out.’
‘He will. He always will.’
‘Thank you Taylor. I really needed to talk to someone.’ Gabriella spoke after a couple minutes of silence.
‘Anything for you Gabi.’ Taylor smiled, as the bell went, signalling the end of visiting hour.
‘Goodbye Gabi. Be strong, yeah?’ Taylor got up and hugged Gabriella tightly.
‘I’ll try. Give everyone a hug for me.’ Gabriella said quietly, tears once again falling freely down her face. When she pulled back, she noticed Taylor was crying too.
‘I will. And I’ll come and visit as soon as possible.’ Taylor squeezed Gabriella’s hand once more, before walking slowly out of the room. Gabriela watched her go, before the policeman walked her to cell.
‘I went to see Gabi. She’s a mess Chad. A complete mess. Being without Carrie’s killing her!’ Taylor sobbed. The gang all looked at the couple standing there, their hatred towards Gabriella’s mother growing stronger by the minute, and their love for Carrie and Gabriella overflowing.
‘I have to get her out of there, guys. I promised her I would. And I won’t stop until she’s free and with her baby.’ Taylor said confidently, pulling away from Chad. ‘Now who’s with me?’
