“You should really be more careful,” said Monique as she made a ladle of her hands in the water. She pressed the sides of her hands together tightly as she lifted them up, careful not to spill any water. The dark-skinned woman stood and turned to face her companion, who was currently leaning back on her elbows on the bed they had made of large jungle leaves. The bleeding on her abdomen had slowed, but not much.

“You should know that I don’t like to be babied.” retorted the woman on the leaf bed. She didn’t like to show weakness and the situation she was in was already compromising enough. Her clothes were reduced to shreds and her gut was bleeding something terrible. To top it off, she was forcibly being taken care of by that blasted leopard girl! No more. I’ll knock that water from her hands if she gets any closer.

A look crossed the dark girl’s face at the expression of her companion and she set her jaw. “Spill this water, and I’ll give you something to really bleed about.” She got down on her knees, straddling her companion, and held her cupped hands in front of the woman’s face. “Drink, you stubborn wolf,” she ordered. She didn’t need this. She was hungry and tired, and the green wolf’s antics were not helping matters any. Didn’t this stubborn wolf realize she’d die without proper care? Though, with her gone, I’d have a better shot at the Blue Fox Princess…

Despite their thoughts, the dark leopard held her cupped hands up, and the green wolf grudgingly drank.
