Chapter 10: The Truth Why You’re Here

“Damn!” He hissed loudly.

“W-What’s wrong?”

Athrun shook his head while taking deep breaths and quickly stood up.

“Everything.” He croaked and looked around. Seeing Cagalli’s t-shirt beside him, he grabbed it and handed it to her.

“W-Why?” he she felt an overwhelming mix of anger, curiosity and embarrassment at his rejection.

“Ulen Hibiki entrusted you to me, Cagalli.” He said as his chest rose and fell at his attempt to cool down the fire inside him.

Her eyes narrowed.

“You were thinking of my father while you’re making love to me? I can’t believe it!” she grabbed her t-shirt and covered her half naked body. “Go away, Athrun!”

“Let’s go back home together.” He said firmly and held out his hand to her.

“Go to hell!”

“Don’t be such a child, Cagalli.” He said impatiently, angrily. Angry because he almost forget his promise to Ulen. In most of the time they’re together, he always controlled himself, but this woman pushes his control to the edge.

“I don’t want to betray your father’s trust.”

“Trust? My father wouldn’t trust me with any man! Let alone you and on this shangrila…” She hissed.

Partly, she’s thankful because he stopped in time. But a huge part of her felt humiliated. It’s as if she’s the one who seduced him. She doesn’t know of any way to fight her embarrassment but only through anger.

“Then you’re wrong.” He said softly. She looked more and more tempting to him every minute. “You’re father entrusted you to me.”

Cagalli’s brows met. Beneath her anger, she can sense something oddly suspicious in what he just said right now.

“What has my father gotta do with this, Athrun? You’re the one who wanted to put me here, and you deceive us!” she said angrily, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.

“C’mon… Cagalli…” he tried to avoid the conversation.

“Answer me. Athrun!”

Athrun sighed and looked at her for a while. There’s anger and sadness on her eyes. He’s sure that Cagalli wouldn’t stop until she found out the truth. She was stunned when he told her the truth of why she was here at the first place.

He knew that she felt rejected, he saw her tears forming in her eyes which was quickly covered with anger. Hell! He’s gone mad when it comes into this woman. He’s getting softer. He must be getting old now.

“Can we forget all about this, please?” he pleaded and reached for her arm again.

“What is it about my father’s trust, Athrun?” she asked again.

He rubbed his hand on his face then look at the endless sea.

“It was your father’s plan that I brought you here…”

“W-What?” her brows met that covered her anger with confusion.

“Alright.” Putting his both of his hand in the side pocket of his jeans, he looked at her.

“You’re father felt humiliated to the Zala’s because of what you did at the party. And he wanted me to teach you a lesson and purposely bring you here. You should understand now why I shouldn’t continue what we just started earlier and also my intention to you...”

Her eyes were widely open as she look at Athrun. Ulen sent her here! Her mother, does she know this? And Kira and also her cousins Dearka and Yzak? Did her family set her up? She can’t believe it, that they did this to her. Tears form in her eyes. Felt betrayed and most of all, she pitied herself.

Athrun silently mutter an oath as he saw Cagalli’s look. He bent his head down a bit to her, held her shoulders and gently pulled her against him.

“Oh, Cagalli, please…”

She pushed him harshly away from her.

“I don’t need your sympathy and stop treating me like a child!” she said in a croak, anger eminent in her voice. “And leave me alone, I want to be alone.”

“Cagalli, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you and your father doesn’t have any bad intention towards to you.”

“Don’t defend my father, Athrun.” She said tightly. She didn’t want to cry in front of him for the second time.

“You go home first. Don’t worry about me. I won’t suicide by crossing the sea again.”

“I won’t leave you here!”

She stood up, holding her shirt at her chest.

“You won’t force me, Athrun. I can fight you, you know that.”

His jaw flexed. “You can’t win against me, Cags. You’ll get hurt.”

She smiled at him sweetly. “Dare.” She said before turning her back to him and slipping into her t-shirt.

Athrun swallowed hard and looked away from her beautiful back that had dirt and red marks which had resulted from lying down at the planks of the wooden bridge. His manhood throbbed with unspent lust. He’s not sure which one of them is lecturing whom. Maybe for him, for self-control.

“Cagalli, c’mon..” he tried to hold her when she face him but she stepped away from him and turned around. She face Athrun again and gave him a flying kick that caught him at his stomach. He fell down, causing the bridge to shake on impact.

Cagalli quickly grabbed the rope handle of the bridge, afraid that the bridge might completely fall down and the shark would have them for dinner. She quickly stepped backwards and stumbled into the shore. She hadn’t taken two steps when Athrun pulled her leg and she fell down. In seconds, he was on top of her, pinning her with his body.

“You can never beat me, Cagalli.” He whispered huskily. “I know you’re going to attack. I allowed you to hit me to test how deadly your martial arts can be.” Athrun smiled, his eyes caressing her face.

“Your face is lethal enough. You can kill a man, love.”

“I promise to kill you!” she wanted to shout at him but it came out in a whisper.

Athrun was on top of her and holding her arms so tight. She knew that she loathed him that time and hated him more because she felt a something stirring inside her. Something that made her feel weak.

“Every which way, I like fighting you, Cagalli Hibiki.” He let go her one arm and buried his fingers in her hair and tugged her hair a little roughly so that she would look up at him.

“Do you know what I want to do with you now, don’t you?”

“W-What?” his masculine scent and clean breath filled her nostrils and she can’t help herself but to shiver.

“To kiss every secret parts of you, love, from head to foot… And to fill you with my flesh.” And he harshly took a deep breath, as if moving heaven and earth themselves in an effort to regain self-control.

“Now, don’t be stubborn and let’s go home…” He stood up, pulling her with him.

At the second time, Cagalli felt rejection. But she tried to ignore her embarrassment, anger and frustration that resulted from his mocking.

“You want me and yet you’re scared with Ulen Hibiki and to my brother and cousins, aren’t you, Athrun?” she sneered. “Of course, they’ll kill you once they learned how you enjoyed mauling me.”

“Cagalli…”

“You fear with my father and my brother and cousins override your lust, Athrun Zala.” She said, stressing every word and smiled at him mockingly.

“That’s fine; I don’t want to indulge myself with a coward, anyway. The men that I met in my life have feared my brother and cousins, not to mention my father.”

Atrhun’s eyes and mouth were almost a line and his square jaw looked more prominent as he fought to control his temper. Suddenly his expression changed and his lips twisted in a mocking smile.

“So I am a coward, huh?” he shook his head mockingly as his eyes never left her lips.

“And what should I call a person like you, Cagalli Hibiki? One who likes to anger a man just to be kissed and touched? What was the term? A tease?”

“I didn’t ask to be kissed by you! You harassed me!”

“Oh, yeah…” he answer, amused as he held her chin and raised it so she would look at him.

“So that’s why how you respond to my kisses? Why, you tasted my tongue as if was a candy…”

Cagalli’s face flushed in embarrassment, her eyes narrowed and she quickly looked away.

“Damn you, Athrun Zala!” She said over her shoulder as she ran back toward Aegis.

Before, she was scared of those venomous snakes that might be living in tall grasses, now completely forgot about it.

She mounted the stallion and, without looking back at him, kicked the horse to a gallop. She’s already far away from the bridge when she heard Athrun’s laugh echoing the forest.
