Imagine
CharliesHoodie

Note: Why not combine my two addictions? Lost and John Lennon.

This explores the beginning of Lost, when everyone was at peace and there was indeed nothing to kill or die for…until the Others came.

But lets be happy and remember the good old days.

Disclaimer: I don’t own this song, John Lennon, or Lost. Although, maybe someone else should own Lost other than the people that do right now…

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try:

Kate Austen often wondered if she would go to Heaven, even after what she did. She always heard the stories about how God forgives everything you do if you accept him, and she always kept that in the back of her mind. But it was more of an easy way out, like a back up plan.

The island was a new place. She had been praying profusely as the plane went down. I accept you, God. Let me go to Heaven. I’m sorry. I accept you.

But when she crashed and survived with only a gash on her cheek, it almost seemed as if she had been cheated – like someone thought it was funny how fast she resorted to prayer that they kept her alive.

She didn’t have to worry about going to Heaven anymore. At least for now.

No Hell below us:

James Ford found it amusing that he would’ve gone to Hell if he had died in the crash. He definitely had a ‘bring it on’ attitude about it. Well, it had been amusing at the time. Now it slightly scared him, although he didn’t show it. Eternity was a pretty long time to burn.

He almost wanted to be forgiven by God right away – right when he accepted the fact that he was on the island.

But then he realized he had time. He wasn’t going to die anytime soon – he had survived a plane crash. He was obviously alive for something.

There was still time to live. He didn’t have to worry about going to Hell anymore. At least for now.

Above us only sky:

Jack Shephard remembered how he used to want to be a pilot, how he had even taken classes for it. Being in the air had been his passion for a while – just one of those things everyone goes through and then thinks is silly later.

He was now happier than ever that he hadn’t turned out to be a pilot, but he assumed he would never be happy with any career choice. Being a doctor had more downsides than ups, in his opinion. For one, he was always inside for ridiculous amounts of time. All the patients had the windows in their rooms, so he was never able to just stand at one and look out unless he wanted to go to the ground floor of the hospital. No one ever would think a doctor had a sense of real adventure or liked being outdoors. He did.

Now he was able to look out up into the clear sky and actually take it in for once, instead of settling for the cloudy night skies he had become accustomed to when he came home late from work.

Imagine all the people
Living for today:

Tabula Rasa. Blank slate. Everyone gets a second chance.

On the Island, there were no meetings to run to at six in the morning. There was no cleaning to do, no medical appointments, no work to be on time for, no money to fight over, no utility bills or gas tanks to fill up. All the things that got in the way of really living were gone.

For a while the people had been in a sort of bored limbo, wondering what to possibly do. Then they all realized something, seemingly all at once.

Now they were really living.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do:

For as long as Sun Kwon could remember, she had been held back by the customs of her home country. Arranged marriages, little respect towards women – it was something she was accustomed to, something she never really questioned.

On the Island, seeing all the other women from so many different countries, she realized something. They were all alike. And not a single one of them let anything hold them back. It turned out that the restrictions her country had put on her didn’t matter any longer, at least not here on the Island.

Nothing to kill or die for:

Charlie Pace was always a passionate person. He took things like his music and family seriously. It seemed like if he had to, he would do anything for people he truly cared about at the drop of a hat. Sometimes he did come across as selfish or self-absorbed, but those traits made him feel more secure when in reality, he had much insecurity. When he truly loved someone or something, it showed.

On the Island, the days before he met Claire felt completely blank. No one was around him that he truly did care about, so his guard went down and he found a completely different person within himself.

When he met her, he didn’t necessarily go back to his old self, but he felt better knowing that if the time came, he had something to kill, live, and die for again. But for now, he was free.

And no religion too:

Sayid Jarrah’s faith and beliefs tended to tear him apart from the rest of society. It seemed like outside of the Middle East, he was a mistake. People actually feared him and didn’t trust him, so the National Guard was like a haven. There he was around his own people, people of his religion and people who felt the same things that he did.

When he crashed, he knew there would be some blame on his part when in reality he had nothing to do with it. But Sawyer had been the first and only one to accuse him, and everyone else had left him alone about it. Hurley had seemed a little nervous when he found out about Sayid’s National Guard position, but yet they were friends. In fact, Sayid had some sort of positive relationship with a lot of people there. He didn’t feel used for his knowledge on communications – he just felt respected. He felt like he had no religion.

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace:

The camp had their issues, as far as getting along with one another went. But there were times when everyone was fine and people simply didn’t fight or worry or get anxious. There were times when sitting on the beach of a deserted Island was actually relaxing, and times when they thought it would be silly to go home when it felt like they had everything they needed right there on the Island.

And every once in a while, there was a day that went by without a single mention of getting rescued.

And every once in a while, people simply were at peace with their situation.

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can:

Shannon Rutherfordwas what most would call a material girl. A fashionite. There were little things in the world that would actually make her care about something else other than herself.

But on the island, she had nothing but some nail polish and a small tube of lipgloss to get her by. She didn’t have her Blackberry or the boys she used to make her feel like something other than what she knew she really was.

She considered her stepmother to be the one who brought her down. She had once been a girl with dreams and hopes and a strong love for ballet. But when Sabrina tore those things away from her, she became the person that she knew now.

But with no possessions, with none of the things that made up who she was, could she be someone different?

No need for greed or hunger:

There was no end toHugo Reyes’ stomach. Or so it seemed. He couldn’t get through two hours without eating something, so he knew he had a problem. Luckily, the Island was there to keep him in step. It was a diet of only fruit, boar, and water. No McDonalds and no fried ice cream.

He had nothing to lose but weight.

A brotherhood of man:

Charlie andHurley hit it off from the start. They could both identify someone they would get along with right away. Hurley had been sorting the airline dinners and Charlie had been gathering up water bottles. They had both randomly started talking to each other, cracking jokes, and actually laughing.

Charlie had mentioned DriveSHAFT. And Hurley knew who they were.

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world:

Although it wasn’t always easy for everyone on the Island to get along and live together, they somehow managed to do it those first few weeks.

Sharing wasn’t easy. But after a few struggles and arguments, people began to settle in and realize they weren’t the only ones going through one of the hardest times in their lives.

But was it one of the hardest times, or was it going to be the best experiences they ever had?

And with every good experience, there was going to be trial and error.

But they had faith things would be ok in the end.

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one

I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one
