Today I broke a long, somewhat unintentional writing hiatus to crank out this little piece of nothing. It's a fresh start... and it's kind of short. I may turn it into a short story or expand upon this little scene in my head later. Or not. But for now, here it is.
Sasuke’s face clouded over into distaste, and he simply shook his head.
Naruto rolled his eyes and a tremor wracked its way through his body as a slight breeze began to blow. It slowly prodded the half-open door of Sasuke’s house ever so slightly, opening it wider and wider as moments passed. Sasuke caught it eventually, but made no move to close it.
“Leave me alone,” he said flatly, after a few moments.
“Fuck you,” Naruto replied, just a drop of anger in his tone. Sasuke sighed again and wiped the sweat from his forehead. It was humid and damp, unpleasant like an old, moist sponge, and the sky was a nasty, phlegm green color, indicating an approaching storm.
Naruto tugged at his jacket, unzipping it in a valiant effort to cool down. “You know I’m never giving up on you,” he murmured slowly as he began to pick at a hangnail.
“Don’t bother.”
Naruto raised an eyebrow, in that “Oh, not this again” way of his, and Sasuke only tightened his already white-knuckled grip on the door.
“You… you are not who… what… I need,” muttered Sasuke almost inaudibly, looking at the ground and squeezing the door so tightly that it almost exploded into splinters.
“… they’re not the only things you need, Sasuke,” Naruto murmured back, clenching and unclenching his fists.
“Go home.”
Naruto’s eyes squeezed shut for a second, and then in a flash his fist was barreling toward Sasuke’s face. Sasuke caught it, although sure that his hand had just been shattered from Naruto’s force, and reached his other arm around behind Naruto. Sasuke smashed his lips onto Naruto’s, hard and biting and cruel, with Naruto thrashing back and snarling into the kiss.
Sasuke shoved Naruto back after it ended and wiped the blood from his own lips as Naruto panted and seethed in front of him, eyes slowly turning red.
“Go home,” Sasuke repeated, and then turned and quietly shut the door. Naruto listened over his heartbeat to the sound of Sasuke’s footsteps as he disappeared farther into his house, and then clenched his fists again and walked away, telling himself the same thing he always did after these encounters:
… maybe tomorrow…
