Doki, Doki, Doki

Doki, Doki, Doki

Lain sat at her new computer and giggled softly, "You're not getting the best of me.." That was her, mimicking the sound of the heart...mocking it. Doki Doki.It had been two years since the incidents. She thought it was all over. Her parents were still recovering, and her sister was in a mental institution. But everything seemed normal. She smiled as she looked at her screen, the name Alice popped up with the words "girls night out?"

A smiling lain typed back.

Lain:Where?

Alice:The club, thats where of course!

Well... it depends..

You DO work there now!! Your not obligated to go, but you can get your friends in for free you know!

Alright, fine, you convinced me..

The screen blipped and the window with the text closed. Lain began to shut down what she was working on, as the computer cut out. "huh?...dammit..what happened?" She muttered softly as she stood quickly and checked the monitor. She saw nothing with the wires seemed wrong in those ports, but the screen flickered back on. Screening across the monitor, were flowing words that went up in codes along the screen, a few more flashes and the screen went black again.

"what are you doing huh?" She whispered to herself. The ghostly girl put her trembling fingers against the screen. So what if she was still a bit nervous with this thing? What happened so long ago..was still a big deal. Letting out a soft breath, after a moment of blackness she calmed, then dropped her hands. Blinking, she realized what her hand had been hiding.

nail olleh...

"nail olleh?...Hello Lain?" She sat back down and she whipped the keyboard off the desk, typing back to the old computer. "Who are you?

ivaN...

Her heart began to pound. Navi...

Doki, Doki, Doki, Doki

There it was. Pounding in her head. She grabbed the monitor and slammed it off the desk. "not again.." There was a light knock on the door and lane looked over.

"lain?"

"yes pa?"

"What was that?"

"Nothing pa, i tripped, I'm fine.. I'm going out with alive tonight.."

Pause..

"alright Lain, not to late.."

Lain looked at the crashed monitor and sighed. "it..it was a hacker.. Alot of people know the wired lain.." She nodded then. That was it, that was what was getting to her. She just had to calm herself, it was getting around the time it all had happened anyways. With a soft smile she changed and she ran out the door. 'Lets go Alice, fun tonight.'

She took off outside, she was garbed in orange and that silly teddy bear cap. It was a joke between her and Alice now.. and she always wore it at the club. She smiled gently as she cleared her mind. "no worries..lets celebrate." And with that, she was off down the street,
oblivious to the blood,
the pain,
the torture, yet to come.

The girls reached the club, Cyberia, where lain worked and where they often had gone on their girls night out in the past.

Now if you were wondering, after Eiri had come alive in the computer, and after lain 'defeated' it, if you will, and saved her friend Alice, she helped Alice understand things. It took Alice some time to be able to be around Lain again but she understood and she has been once more, best friends, ever since.

Now as they walked quickly, Alice pulling Lain in an ever-so-excited manner, Lain began to feel nervous and uneasy ,but could one blame her? Absolutely not. Alice pulled her down the stairs and into the thumping beat of the music and the flashing, multicolored strobe lights. Not to mention the smell of sweat, after all there were many people dancing, which caused ones body to get rather warm.

Now as Lain looked around, she relaxed and began to have some fun with Alice. They went onto the dance floor, and the easier, more lay back lain started to come out as her and Alice danced. Antics and jokes were done and spoken between the two, they took breaks and got cans of juice. As they sat there Lain looked at Alice. "Alice...i don't feel so well about today..i mean..my computer was acting weird an-"

She was cut off, Alice waved her hand gently in front of her face and then winked at Lain. "No worries Lain!! Come on, you spend WAY to much time on that stupid computer! I swear things'll start happening again..."

Lain shook her head. "But I'm using an old computer, not a navi, so I'm not pulled in like that..i don't have that kind of software anymore."

Alice shook her head and laughed softly. "Alright well," She paused, crushing the juice can in her hand and then dropping it into the trash. "don't be a party pooper, finish your juice and ill see you on the dance floor!" She laughed softly and took off, joining the dancing crowd once more. Alice didn't seem at all concerned, but lain's heart thumped rapidly in her chest.

She nursed her can of juice as she thought hard and long. She sighed. "Alice is right...i have to calm down anyways, I'm always nervous today anyways.." She smiled and nodded then and sipped her juice easier now. Something distracted her though, this time it wasn't a computer.

The flashing strobe lights were going more frequent, and faster now. Something was wrong, and before lain could think the lights went out and there were a couple soft yells at the sudden darkness. Everyone fell silent. A tall black man behind the bar that Lain sat by pulled out a match and lit and large candle that had several wicks. The light being strong enough the light the entire room.

The music stopped, and there began a slight cracking sound, very faint but growing. As if something was stocking them from within the walls of the nightclub. She glared lightly then stood up, she knew what was happening. "no...it cant.." She dropped the can and the orange liquid spilled onto the ground making a sticky mess. She moved toward a railing put to help people trying to get onto the higher level (it was constructed with a lower floor within the basement for the dance floor. This on lain stood, had tables, small round ones, chairs, and the bar. The DJ had a higher floor all his own. But it was more like plateau.) and leaned over, staring.

Doki...Doki...Doki...

What was that? It felt as thought something had just whispered into her ear. The speakers whispered this though, and the DJ began to look around, it hadn't been him. Only Lain really spoke the mock heart beat aloud as she somehow always heard the heart beats..heavy and unsettling. Fast paced and frightened. She was so concerned, so frightened at this moment she didn't even notice her own heart beating so fast it could kill her.

A soft chuckle lifted into the air from the speakers and those cracking noises grew, and grew, and grew, louder and louder. Her eyes darted to the ceiling over the center of the dance floor. Those with common sense, which was most in that club, moved away from the center but one stood there. mesmerized by something...just staring...staring up, at the center of the ceiling. Lain leaned over the railing and cried out. "ALICE!!...Alice MOVE!!" She reached out.

Just then Alice looked over. "La-CRUNCH" Before she could speak, before she could move, something fell from the ceiling and killed her, blood instantly splattering as screams filled the small space and people filed for the door. Now this thing..it was constructed of mostly wire..it seemed. And the sound it made, coming through was not that of something FALLING through but something BREAKING through. The candles went out, blinding everyone from what was happening.

Lains heartbeat finally got in her head. Her eyes grew damp but she did not cry, she had forgotten how, and now all she did was hang her head a brief moment in despair but then it shot back up at the sound of the thing moving. "eiri...if thats you...I will KILL you this time!!" She took off in the darkness, she knew this place like the back of her hand, having worked here long enough. She dove over the bar and moved to the back door, the black bartender was already gone.

As she opened the door a light from the exit flooded the small hallway and showed how the things wires went right through the walls there, still moving through. With a grunt lain maneuvered through and over and under these wires and ran up the steps, reaching the exit, looking back only once to say...

I am sorry, Alice.
