LET ME GO
A/N: Okay, so this is a completely new story and a completely new plot for me…The only other multiple-chapter stories I’ve written were paired together because they’re a part of a series. Anyway, that series was Miley-based, and this story is Lilly-based. Hope you like it!
ONE-TIME DISCLAIMER: The title comes from the song by the same title by 3 Doors Down. This story is not based on that song, nor am I claiming any ownership of that song. Listen to the song, though...it's great!
DISCLAIMER:It’s simply not mine.
Twenty-five year old Lilly Truscott had been living in Florida for the last seven years, and for the last five years, she’d been working at an electronics store. She was store manager, so when they decided to open a branch in Malibu, California, they asked her to move there to be manager at the new store.
So there she sat on a plane, flying from Florida to Malibu. Next to her sat a little girl in the middle seat, and next to the little girl sat a woman probably in her early forties.
Lilly listened to her iPod while watching the screen where they were showing the movie. The girl beside her giggled at the movie, Ratatouille. The movie was over ten years old, but it was a classic. Like Finding Nemo.
“Please fasten your seatbelts and prepare for landing,” Lilly heard over the loudspeaker.
The seatbelt made a click sound as Lilly followed the directions and noticed that the girl beside her did as well.
Slowly, the feeling of descending overcame Lilly, and she finally felt a bump as they landed.
When the flight attendants gave the all-clear to stand up and start exiting the plane, Lilly stood on her tippy-toes to retrieve her stuff from the overhead compartment. Lilly started to walk toward the isle, but stopped and looked at the young girl who was still sitting in her seat.
“Coming? Or are you just going to stay on the plane and go back to Florida?”
“If it’s an option…”
“It isn’t. Come on, Rose, we talked about this. I know you’re gonna miss your friends, but you’ll make new ones. This is a really good opportunity for us, Rosie. We’ll have more money.” Lilly bent down and picked up Rose with one arm and her carry-ons with the other and walked off the plane.
“Put me down, Mommy! I’ll follow you, just put me down!” Rose screeched.
“When you calm down and ask nicely, I’ll put you down.” Rose took a deep breath.
“Mommy, will you please put me down?”
Lilly nodded and set Rosie down. As soon as her feet hit the ground, she turned and bolted back to the plane.
“Rosalie Lola Truscott! Stop right where you are!” Lilly commanded. Rose immediately halted. She knew she was in big trouble. There were very few times she ever heard her mom call her Rosalie, and there were even fewer times that she’d been called by her full name.
“Rosalie, you do not run away from me and you certainly do not disobey me. You got that?” Lilly asked, taking Rose’s hand and walking into the terminal.
“I’m sorry, Mommy. You hate me now, don’t you?”
Lilly looked down at Rose who had the puppy dog look on her face. Lilly looked into her blue eyes and melted.
“Of course not, Rosie. I could never hate you,” Lilly said, setting her bags down and putting Rose on one of the chairs. “You’re my baby girl, and I will always love you. You hear that?”
Rose nodded. “I love you too, Mommy,” she said as Lilly once again took her hand.
“You ready to go see our new house?” Lilly asked.
“We have a real house with a yard?” Rose asked, already dreaming of a tree house and a Slip-N-Slide. All her life they’d lived in an apartment.
“We certainly do,” Lilly said. Rose smiled. “See, Rosie? This isn’t going to be too bad, is it?”
“Maybe not.”
A/N: Thank you for reading the first chapter of my new fic. I hope you liked it. Please review:D
