Disclaimer: I don’t own them (except for the original character) they aren’t mine I’m just playing with them and i will put them back when I am done, I make no money off of this it is just for fun

Cross over Harry Potter/ Charmed

A/N: I know I usually try and keep to the actual show without adding anything but I wanted to expand my comfort zone a little and this has been begging me to write it for weeks now. I don’t normally give in to original characters but I wanted to do something totally different and write something completely separate from the actual series, I wanted to see if I could make my own plot story and characters and still keep the other characters in character, a little writing exorcize if you will, besides I kinda get tired of writing someone else’s stuff and wanted to add a little more of a personal touch to my stories. I’ve also never attempted a cross over before and thought it might be interesting as I have never seen this one done before yet it seems to fit.

Also if I did my math right and the first book came out in 1997 and Potter was 11 in 1997 then Harry was born in 1986 so the beginning of my sorry would be sometime in the summer of 1987, sorry it that isn’t totally right but that is going to be the time line I’m working from. And I’m guessing Severus is in his very early 20's and yes I’m playing a little with the times maybe even ages and such in fact I think I’m playing with them a lot in order to get the two fandom’s to fit together as well as with my idea for the story, so sue me!!

Wow people I didn't really ever mean for this to get so long but it seems that the background of this little story was a lot, lot longer then I anticipated, I’m up to 10 pages and I haven’t even gotten to my actual story yet, this is going to be a interesting series funny thing is I meant for this to be a one shot!! I swear my stories take on a life of their own!!

And again thank you to Supergirl for all your help and editing!

OoOoOoOoOo

June 1st 1987

It was only about a month after the fall of the dark lard who was thwarted by a child not yet a year in age, and even shorter then that since Albus Dumbledore had made him his pet project. In fact it was the latter that insisted he take a break, a vacation before he started teaching his first semester of students at Hogwarts.

Severus Snape hated children, he even hated them when he was one, not that he was really so far removed from being a child at the moment either, but non the less he didn’t like the youngest members of his species.

But Albus had insisted and he had yet to win an argument with the elder Wizard. And said disability at winning arguments found him on a plane to America, California to be exact.

If there was anything Severus hated more then Children, and there weren’t many such things, it was the sun. Come on, he didn’t get his pasty white skin by sun bathing every morning and he most definitely didn’t hang out in basements and dungeons because they where warm and inviting. But again he wasn’t really given much of a choice; if Dumbledore wanted it of him Dumbledore got it. He was a tricky man and often got Snape to agree to things he didn’t even realize he was agreeing to. Severus was either going to have to get much better at his arguing skills or he was going to have to just agree to whatever it was the Headmaster wanted and save them all the grief.

Severus took a deep breath placing his shrunken bags into his jeans pocket (Yes Severus Snape was wearing jeans, blue jeans of all things, he silently cursed Minerva for demanding he get a muggle wardrobe for his trip and then insisting on picking it out herself.) He pulled at the sleeves of his green (yes Minerva did have some mercy) button down nervously, the dark mark had mostly faded since the dark lords demise but Severus was ever self conscious about it. As he stepped through the metal detectors Bells sounded around him and if at all possible his face got even whiter.

A large man in a security uniform came over to him and passed what looked to Severus like a thick black wand over him, Severus braced himself and put his hand where his wand would have been had Albus not insisted he pack it in his luggage and shrink it down with the rest of his things. Severus was quick to point out that he wouldn't be able to shrink and un-shrink his bags without the wand and Albus had been all to helpful with that, using his own wand to shrink the luggage and assuring Snape that even shrunken down his wand would work fine when it came to bringing his things back to size.

He had originally tried to get the boy to leave the wand behind completely, on the grounds that magic folk in America didn't use wands. He didn't tell Severus but he was sure being in that community would help him with his own wand less magic, which though not a talent many in their community possessed, he was sure Severus was most capable of. However Albus relented when he saw the fear the thought of not having his wand brought to the younger wizard’s eyes. He understood that fear so he did not press the issue.

He was greatly relived when the big man ushered him through simply shouting "Belt buckle" to the rest of the security team. Snape’s legs felt like jelly, it had not been a pleasant experience and he hadn't even boarded the plane yet.

Severus didn’t spend much time in the muggle world, he had never been in a plane before or even a car for that matter and the thought didn’t sit well in his stomach, but Albus had said it would be wise for him to get away from the magical community in England and so he sent him to America. Why California he didn’t know but Severus was certain there was a reason behind it. Albus Dumbledore never just did any thing; there was always some hidden reason behind it. And he was certain it wasn’t just to help tutor a few witches, there where certainly many more qualified to do such a thing then him especially with such important witches as these.

'But what is Albus up to? What is in California?' Severus thought as he boarded the plane 'well I guess I’m about to find out’.

He took a deep breath and looked around, there where muggles every where and he wasn’t thrilled in the slightest. Not that he hated muggles, he really held no contempt for them, but if he was honest with himself he would admit they scared him almost as much as he scared them. He would have run right there and then if he didn’t know for a fact the Dumbledore and Minerva where waiting in the airport in case he should decide to do just that. He was certain they would not go back to the school until the plane took off with him on it.

Severus took his seat which was of course in the middle of two rather large muggle men, and he was doing a rather unsatisfactory job of hiding the disgust on his face. He nearly jumped ten feet in the air when the pilot came on the loud speaker to announcement...

"We will be taking off in just a few moment, we are starting to taxi the runway now please fasten your seat belts." And just like that the voice cut out, with Severus searching around frantically for who it was speaking.

He watched as all the others fastened their seat belts before picking up both ends of his own staring at them curiously as if they where some sort of foreign object, and to him one could suppose they where. He turned the ends about in his hands before pushing them together with a satisfying click. He gave a small triumphant nod, pulling on the ends seeing that they didn’t come apart.

He leaned back in his seat trying to situate himself comfortably between the two mammoth muggles, he was almost successful when the plane started to take flight and that is when pure panic griped at Snape's stomach as the pressure in his head built and his ears started to pop. The Lady in the seat across the isle from him must have seen the look on his face because she took pity on his and handed him a peace of gum across the narrow Isle and large man.

Severus looked at it as if it would bite him and the Lady gave a soft chuckle

"It’s gum dear; have you never seen gum? Just unwrap it and chew, but don’t swallow; it will help with the pressure and ear popping." She smiled gently as she explained handing the two small children sitting next to her each a peace as well. Severus just blinked his eyes, studying the silver foil wrapped stick. He opened the wrapper turning the green peace of gum over in his hand a moment looking at it thoughtfully before throwing caution to the wind and popping it in his mouth to chew.

"Thank you." He managed even sparing the kind elderly lady a smile, well as much of a smile as Severus ever gave. He was surprised at the pleasant mint taste and was thrilled even more that the stuff did indeed help and he was able to relax a bit for the long ride.

He sat back and started thinking about what the headmaster had told him about America. Apparently he would be staying with the grandchildren of an old friend of Dumbledore, a friend that sadly didn't make it through one of her own battles against evil…apparently Voldemort wasn’t the only evil in the world, not by a long shot.

Snape saw the sadness in the mans eyes when he spoke of her and he assumed there had been something between the two and he wasn’t sure if it was the distance between them that was the ocean or if it was the distance between them that was Albus Dumbledore himself that made it not work out. Either way as much as Severus hated the twinkle in Dumbledore’s eyes he hated even more when it wasn’t there.

The granddaughters where three very powerful witches about his age if he wasn’t mistaken, The Halliwell’s if he remembered correctly. The charmed ones he had read about in many prophesy. He had to admit he was interested to meet them; they came from a very powerful line of witches and wizards. Their father was a squib but he didn’t know it. He had no idea that he was the son of a very powerful wizard and witch himself, which explained why the sisters where still so powerful. Their blood line had not been watered down as many thought when it was assumed their father was a muggle, very few people knew he was a squib and his parents had wanted to keep it that way. The secret was taken to their grave save for the fact that Albus Dumbledore knew, but then again he knew everything. Now of course Severus himself knew but he had been sworn to secrecy. They feared if people knew that their father wasn’t a muggle they would be able to surmise just how powerful the sisters would be and that would be a tactical misstep.

He had done some research on the Wizerding community in America, there wasn’t a very large one which he supposed made sense to him; the Natives of America where not magical, at least not in the sense that wizards and witches where magical. They had their own separate sort of magic that the earth granted to healers and healers alone it was more a connection with nature and the knowledge of how to use that connection, and nature itself to their advantage then it was actual magic. It also wasn’t in any way connected with the wizerding world.

So since the natives where not witches nor wizards that meant that the only witches and wizards where the ones that colonized the America's, and not many wanted to leave what was then a flourishing magical community back in England and Spain. So since so few witches and wizards colonized, it was then safe to infer that was the reason the magical community was so small. Especially when taking into account the muggle born that never had the benefit of Hogwarts, the watering down of the magical blood line due to marrying muggles, and the squibs that where born to pure blood magical folk you where left with a rather small gene pool. Especially since there seemed to be much interbreeding between the magical folks that colonized and inter breading brought out defects and thus for caused far more squibs then usual.

He was also very aware that he was being sent not only to teach these three witches but to learn from them as well; apparently the girls’ grandmother had bound their powers shortly after their mother had been murdered. They where far to powerful and the grandmother thought it would be safer if they did not come into their powers till they where older. Unfortunately the grandmother was killed herself before she could unbind them and teach them, However upon her death the binding had come un-done and left the three sisters with much power and no one to teach them how to use it.

Severus was snapped out of his own thoughts when the plain hit a patch of turbulence, Severus grabbed the arm rests so tight his knuckles where white with the effort. Not much scared Severus Snape, but this plane, this plane was terrifying him!

"Sorry folks just some turbulence," There was the voice again, ‘where the hell it was coming from’? Snape had no clue.

Snape took a deep breath as he felt the plane calm down again; he couldn’t wait to be on the ground again. He knew Dumbledore had his reasons for not allowing him to apperiate and that the flu networks weren’t connected to the United States but surely there had to be a better way to get to America then this. Severus made up his mind then and there he would set up a port key at the Hallowell’s should Albus decide he needed to spend more then just these next few months with them.

It was the longest most torturous six and a half hours of his life, and that’s including his time spent with the dark lord, before the plain finally landed in California. The descent of the plane had been as miserable for Severus as the take off but he took a breath of relief when the plane finally landed on solid ground even if the jerk the plane did when touching down had sent his stomach plummeting.

He couldn't disembark the plane fast enough even as he was being shoved back and forth between muggles he managed to push his way through to freedom. Though he wasn’t sure where his freedom was as he stared around the huge airport, one much bigger then the small one he had left from in England.

He looked around with wide dark eyes fishing in his pockets for his passport as well as the small worn muggle photo that Albus had given him of the sisters. He found them both tucked neatly in his pocket where Albus had quickly shoved them before shooing him off through security. Now he was faced with dealing with customs on his own.

He approached the customs area with much trepidation clutching his passport and the ID Dumbledore had gotten him tightly in his hand along with the photograph and a small peace of parchment with some information written on it. When it was his turn an older man approached him, he was wearing a security uniform different yet not unlike the ones worn by the security back in England. The man approached him and started to pat him down; Severus jumped back and looked at the man.

"I suppose you have never been through customs before. Calm down young man, I’m just making sure you aren’t carrying anything on your person that is not aloud to enter the country, Where is your luggage?" The man asked giving him a suspicious look. Severus hadn't really thought about how odd it would look for him not to have any until that moment.

"Oh... It got lost; I didn’t have a carry on." And it must have been the English accent that made him sound convincing because the man didn’t ask any further questions about it and just resumed patting him down, seeing as he didn’t feel anything suspicious he backed off and started asking questions.

Severus was glad for this as he didn’t like being touched all that much and being pat down like that had unnerved him terribly. He took a deep breath collecting himself tucking a stray lock of black hair behind his ear.

"Passport and ID," The man asked holding out his hand and Severus handed them over.

The man ‘Hmm’d’ and studied the photos and information looking back and forth between Severus himself and the documents.

"Severus Tiberiouse Snape? Interesting name..." the man said

"That is me, yes." Severus said narrowing his eyes a bit, he didn’t think his name was 'interesting'

"And how long are you going to be in the states for Mr. Snape?" The man asked

"10 weeks Sir." Severus answered

"And where will you be staying at, and who will you be staying with?" The man asked

Severus didn't like all the questions but he opened the peace of parchment for the address information.

"I’ll be staying with the Halliwell’s and the Halliwell Manor 1329, Prescot Street, San Fransisco." He said reading the address from the parchment.

"Very well…" The man said stamping the passport and handing it back along with his ID ushering him out of the customs area, and Snape was glad to go.

Snape walked through the airport staring at the photo and looking around every now and then to see if he could find anyone from the picture. He wasn’t having much luck.

He jumped ten feet in the air when he felt a hand on his shoulder, man he was unhinged!!

"Oh, I’m sorry I didn't mean to scare you." A young lady with long black hair and dark eyes said to him, she was also holding a photo that she had been previously studying herself.

"You wouldn't happen to be Severus Snape would you?" She asked looking from him to the photo and back. Severus just nodded still trying to swallow his heart back down.

"Oh good, I’m Piper Halliwell, you'll be coming to stay with me and my sisters." Her voice was sweet and Snape relaxed a bit.

She looked at him and cocked her head asking rather confused "No luggage?"

Snape reached into his different pockets and pulled out his three shrunken suit cases and showed them to her, she looked close studying them intently.

"Now that is peculiar." She said, Snape just looked at her wondering how a witch couldn’t know about shrinking down baggage but he quickly shook his head to clear the thought remembering they had rather different styles of magic

"Well come on then my sisters are waiting on in the car for us." Piper told him. Snape who had said nothing to her up to this point froze

"C-Car?" Severus asked, he knew what a car was but he wanted no part in actually riding in one.

"Oh Grandfather said you weren’t used to technology. I guess I didn’t even realize you may have never have ridden in a car before. It is really no big deal I promise it is safe. Come along you really don’t want to make Prue angry!" she explained putting a reassuring hand on Snape’s back. To his own surprise he didn't feel the need to pull away from the affection and that was odd to him. Severus took a deep breath and nodded putting his bags back into his pockets before following allowing Piper to guide him to the car, with a hand to the small of his back.

'Wait did she say Grandfather!' Snape thought when they reached the car, there was most definitely more going on here then he had been originally told.
