Prologue: A Tragic End, due to the Hero's Misconception

It's over, Link thought, staring at the standing, yet lifeless body of Ganondorf. Just as the dark swordsman's eyes went white with death, the Four Spirits Ordona, Faron, Eldin, and Lanayru appeared over the hill, a great gold of light flashed the area and immediately faded. Unexplainable hope filled Link, as he raced up the hill in hopes of seeing Midna...alive. When she had fitted the Fused Shadow to stop Ganondorf's beast form, first warping him out of the castle, he had felt a strong rush of panic and dread, like he had felt when Zant had hurt Midna, nearly killing her, but this panic was stronger. Then he knew he had to kill Ganon. If not for all of Hyrule then...for Midna.

Reaching to the top, his worn, brown boots skidded to a stop. On the grass of the old battle field kneeled a figure cloaked in a long Black robe. "Midna...?" He called cautiously to the figure. Suddenly the figure stood and turned to face him and to his surprise, she was a beautiful woman, tall with flaming orange hair and cloud-blue and midnight-black skin. The said cloak covered her back while a long black skirt with red and orange hems adorned her lower half.

She smirked at his gawking face and she taunted, "Am I so beautiful you have no words?"

He smiled, a large smile exposing rows of white teeth. "Maybe," He whispered, stilling smiling. It wasn't for his secret love to hear, but she appeared to have heard anyway, a blush tinting her blue cheeks. She glanced away a small smirk on her lips.

As Midna neared him, the smile still there, Link missed the glint of a sword behind his beloved, yet it was too late as Midna cried out doubling over in pain. "MIDNA!" She reached a delicate hand over to him, blood trickling from the side of her mouth. When falling to her knees, Link's azure eyes widened in pure horror at the sight of Zelda yanking the sword from Midna's shoulder, a cruel grin twisting her face.

Brows furrowing, storm-blue orbs darkening at her betrayal, he rushed the Princess of Hyrule, forgetting the sword in her hand and the lack of one in his own. A glove-clad hand clamped tightly around her throat, lifting her until her heel-covered feet left the ground . Barking out in a very wolf-like manor, he roared, "Traitor! What's this about?! Have you used us all along, to your sick amusement?!" His answer was that of her straining to breathe. He roughly shook her, snarling, "Answer me!"

Zelda merely grinned, spitting in his face. "Why should I tell you? You pathetic excuse of a Hero! Can't even save the one you love!" Link's lip raised in a wolfish snarl, swiping the saliva roughly off his face. His free hand joined the one around her throat, in a all-out strangle of the Princess. He tightened his grip, grinning in vengeful satisfaction as Zelda's eyes rolled to the back of her head, much like Ganondorf's.

Just when Zelda began falling limp, a large sword, dripping green and black of the Twilight, was thrust painfully into the Hero's abdomen. Link couldn't even gasp out at the sudden agony, so his teeth clenched. Zelda fell out of his loosened grasp. He jerkily moved his head down to glare at the weapon, eyes widening once more at the sword. 'The...t-the...Master...S-Sword...! Bu...but w-who...' He slowly, again in the same jerky movements, glowered over his shoulder, to see the evil amber eyes of Ganondorf. 'N-no!'"I...ki-killed you!"

The dark swordsmen laughed at the Hero's situation, finding it all too funny. " So you thought, hero. Did you think I'd let a mere human kill me? The Ruler of Hyrule AND Twilight?! I admit I was weakened, but that's all you heroes could ever and will ever do to me!" He cackled. Link looked over to Midna, to see her lay face-first in the pool of her own blood. "Mid...na," He whispered weakly again, reaching out to her as she did for him. He failed her...failed everyone. Failure. The word drummed agonizingly in his mind. How could he be so blind? So naive to think this was the end? Maybe the worlds of Twilight and the Light will be written in blood. His blood.

Link gave another aching start as the Master Sword was snapped in half, from where it was plunged in his body, leaving the spread of black and green Twilight poison as well as the very blade. The same poison that turned him into a wolf. Spots, as well as tears of failure, blurred his vision, which gazed longingly at the still form of Midna. Distantly, he heard Zelda join Ganondorf in cackling. He slowly,as if time were stopping, fell to the grass.'Midna...I'm so, so s-sorry...please, please forgi-forgive me...' Were the Hero's last thoughts, his hand clutching the blue one of the women of his thoughts and his heart. Both their eyes lay open. Dead. The betrayal and sorrow dully reflecting from the red and the blue orbs of the Heroes...

SVR-LINK IS DEAD! NOOOOO! Have no fear, this story is too question-raising to be a one-shot. Sorry it was so short, but meh not much to write I wanted to get to the point...sort of. Tehehehe! Until chapter two, Bye!
