Chapter Twelve: Back in Business

So, so, sorry about the wait in updates, I know it’s been a long time, I just hope you guys are still out there... Please enjoy this chapter, even if it’s a bit shorter than normal...

Chapter Twelve: Back in Business.

Sara stared in awe at the huge hole in the ice wall that had been melted, but it really wasn’t the hole that had shocked her, it was how the hole had gotten there...

Johnny stood outside of the hole in the wall staring in amazement at his hands, “I was just leaning against the ice and...” He clicked his fingers, a small flame flared up then slowly disappeared, Johnny tired again, this time, the flame stayed, “Oh yeah, Johnny’s in business!”

They small group stared at him, “But that’s...” Sara blinked at the small flame dancing around Johnny’s hand, “How is that... I mean I still have my powers and... I don’t get it...”

Catherine, however, was not staring at Johnny but the hole in the ice, “You couldn’t have done that before I ran all around to get out.” She muttered the first bit under her breath so only Greg could hear, then she added louder, “Where’s Sue?”

The group blinked and realised that it was true, Sue was no where to be seen, “Sue?” It was Reed who called out her name, looking around with his eyes, “Sue, are you okay?”

A small laugh was followed by the voice of Sue, “I’m fine, I’m right here,” She suddenly appeared beside Nick, causing him to step back slightly, “Sorry about that – I just couldn’t resist...”

Reed sighed with relief as Sue made her way through the hole in the ice and towards him, “Looks like we’re all ready to get back in action.”

Sue grinned at him, “It will be nice to be back in the action... although I wouldn’t say all of us are back in action.” At this Sue looked down at Greg, who was now leaning against the wall of ice, and grinned.

“Ha-ha,” Greg glared at Sue as he tried to get to him feet, “I’m perfectly fine thank you.” Greg put a hand on the wall of ice to steady himself, then, something none of them were expecting happened.

The wall of ice glowed white-blue, and before their very eyes the ice wall turned into vapour and “flew” into Greg’s hand, engulfing him the white-blue light and emerging him in the icy vapour.

When the vapour and light disappeared they all stared at Greg in apprehension, “Greg?” It was Grissom who broke the silence, “Are you alright?”

Greg gave Grissom a strange look before blinking, “I, I think so...” Greg breathed deeply then grinned, “Yeah, I’m great...” And to everyone’s surprise, Greg stood fully on his feet, balanced perfectly with no sign whatsoever of his injuries...

“You’re okay!” Catherine threw her arms around Greg in a hug and grinned up at him, “I don’t know how that’s possible, but you’re okay...”

“It’s like you can gather energy from ice...” Johnny muttered in awe, “Like it heals you or something.” He pouted, “Man, I wish I could do that...”

“I’m sure you would love to,” Warrick grinned at him but then turned to Reed, “shouldn’t you guys be heading out to help Ben about now?’

“Warricks right, lets go sink out teeth into Victor shall we?” Johnny grinned at them all before flaming on and flying over to the battle scene.

The others quickly followed him, getting there just in time to see Johnny torch Victor with a jet of fire. Victor, totally unprepared and quite shocked to say the least, stumbled backwards and fall into the sand, cursing and yelling as he did so.

“How is that possible?” Victor spat, getting to his feet and facing all six of them, “that is not possible!”

“Well it seems it is,’ Sue growled at him, “Now stop talking – and lets get down to business!”

A burst of blue energy exploded from Sue and crashed into Victor, who once again stumbled back into the desert sand.

“You can’t take on all of us Victor,” Reed yelled, nodding to the others, “just give up now.”

“Now why would I want to do that?” When Victor got to his feet he was surrounded, “I’m just warming up!”

Lightning flashed from the sky and started to crackle around Victor as he attempted to zap all six of them at once... His attempts did not work however as they all managed to deflect or doge the lightning in some way.

“You need to learn some new tricks,” Sara teased him as huge chunks of the rock below the sand broke of from the ground, beginning to lift into the air; “you are so old news!”

The rock smashed into Victor with a resounding thud, he growled in frustration but managed to stay on his feet.

“Johnny, I need you to go supernova again,” Reed yelled, turning to Johnny as Sue and Ben distracted Victor, “Do you think you could do it?”

Johnny nodded, “But what’s to say he wasn’t just come back again – and how are we going to cool him down?”

Reed rolled his eyes at Johnny, “It’s just to get him out of here – and he have are very own ice machine, remember?”

Johnny laughed and grinned at Greg, who gave him the thumbs up, “Right, okay then...”

Johnny took to the sky, circling Victor and getting hotter and hotter as he did so, this time, Reed told Sue not to contain the flame, he had a better idea.

“You think you can just do this again Richards, your pathetic,” Victor laughed, “a little heat never hurt anyone...”

“Not on its own...” Reed had a strange grin on his face, “Sara, can we get some more rocks please.”

Sara blinked, although who confusion quickly turned into a grin as she realised where Reed was going with this, “certainly.”

The earth around Victor rose up, encasing him in a rock like tomb, the fire contained to circle, heating up the rock and causing it to glow red.

Reed turned to Greg, “Now!”

Greg gritted his teeth and sent a very large, very cold ice blast towards the fire and rock. The sudden temperature dropped caused a small explosion, knocking Johnny out of the air and causing Greg to yell in pain as heat flew towards him...

“Did... Did it work?” Sue asked after awhile, a bit weary of the spot where Victor was, steam and vapour obstructing their vision, “Is he... stopped?”

Sue’s question was answered when the steam and vapour cleared; they all stared in amazement at what they saw...

Not only was Victor the statue that they had caused him to be weeks before, half of him was also encased in a melted rock like substance, while the over half glittered with a think layer of ice...

“Hah!” Reed yelled in triumphant, grinning like an idiot as he did so, “let’s see him get out of that one!”
