She stood there in her grace of white robes, hair flowing freely down her lithe back and smooth shoulders. Her pale horse-like ears atop her head twitched to every sound that echoed in the room, bouncing off the walls and floating into their canals. She stood majestically with her small hands resting on her hips and her white tail hanging limply from the base of her back. Her blue-sky eyes blinked once before she continued to stare at her six-eared husband and process the news he had just informed her of.

A tournament? Over the throne of all of Makai? Established without her knowledge or opinion?

Her ears suddenly flattened to her head, immediately taking away any false hint to her good nature. She wanted to growl, she wanted to stomp her feet, she wanted to bop him in the ears! But she couldn't. Her infant twins lie sleeping in their crib just behind her back...she must remain silent to ensue their happy dreams.

She finally sighed and turned to face her babies without saying a word. Her eyes went from silent rage to motherly love as she watched the tiny boy and girl snuggled together as they slept off their previous meal of Mother's milk. With a gentle hand, she tucked the blanket closer to their fragile bodies and bent down to place a soft kiss on either's head.

Behind her, her husband blindly stared ahead and listened to each soft kiss land on his children's foreheads. It seemed just like yesterday when he and she were wanted theives and he was the one receiving soft kisses of affection. But they were now queen and king, lord and lady...mother and father...and he was rarely spoiled with them anymore.

He knew the news of the tournament wouldn't be welcomed by his love. She wouldn't be able to participate because of her recent pregnancy and birth of the twins. She would have to sit in the stands, one in each arm as her husband and oldest son battled for the throne of Makai.

Not only that, but he knew she didn't wish to leave home. They spent a thousand years of thieving, training, and lies to get this far. Wasn't wealth and respect what the two wanted? They had finally established that and realized how boring it was to be pampered day after day. How annoying it was to have every wish fullfilled before it even entered their mind. Most of all, how tiring it was to do nothing all day.

If they lost the tournament, then they would lose their established dream. But maybe that's what both truly wanted. To start over and relive their life of narrow escapes and fun-filled adventures.

A sudden smile creeped onto his features and he slowly approached his wife from behind. While he was thinking, the baby girl had woken to a rather loud lighting bolt as it struck nearby. She gently craddled the tiny infant in her arms, forgetting the fact she was once a wanted thief and murderer. The baby's cries of fear and sleepiness soon faded as she recognized her mother's shallow voice.

He placed a hand on her shoulder, his palm nearly covering her entire upper arm. She could feel his comforting warmth from behind and eased back to lean against his firm chest, still rocking the baby girl to sleep. He smirked again and brought up his free hand to cover his wife's and help support the baby girl's gentle weight. From that soft carress, she forgot about the tournament and their past. She even left out the future and closed her eyes to take in the present.

From his calculations, she was just angry because she wasn't involved. But it was true enough that both desired something different...something new...and that is what the tournament will bring.

This is my version of Yomi's wife. She's 1/2 unicorn & 1/2 dragon (hence the horse-like ears and short temper). She was bred by a "collector" way back when Youko & Yomi were still bandit partners. She escaped and met Youko & Yomi.
