Bella’s A Drunk?: A Truth or Dare Story

Edward had passed me a note during Biology.

‘Bella, darling, I’m so horribly sorry but I won’t be here this weekend.’

‘Why? Are you and your family hiking again?’ I wrote, using the term the Cullen’s used for when they went hunting to satisfy their….vampiric needs.

‘Just me and Carlisle. Everyone else is going together for 4 days, but wanted to stay with you, so I’m going this weekend.’

That was so sweet of him. I mean, all he could get on a weekend trip were deer and small game. He was passing up his favorite “food” for a chance to spend more time with me.

I smiled over at him as the bell rang, signaling the end of class. The weekend was finally here! I was glad to be out of school, even though a weekend without Edward was guaranteed to be unbearable.

"Bella!" Alice screeched running towards me. "This weekend is going to be so much fun! You're staying over, by the way. I called Charlie and he said yes!" Her enthusiasm scared me. There was no telling what she had planned for the weekend.

Edward rolled his eyes. “Of course he said yes, Alice. He would have said yes if you told him you were taking Bella to a strip joint to get her a job.”

Alice hugged me, and then zoomed out of the room as quickly as she had entered it. Edward and I walked out, his arm around my waist.

“You know Edward…. I would almost rather you stay the weekend, and I be alone for four days than endure another sleepover with Alice…” I hinted suggestively.

“Sorry, Bella; if I don’t go, Alice will, and then she gets to watch over you for four days, instead of one night. And this weekend won’t just be Alice; it’ll be Jasper, Emmett, and Rose too.” He rubbed soothing circles in to my arm with his fingertips. Edward walked with me out to his Volvo, taking me over to his house immediately after. Alice had already gotten my things for the weekend and had it on the bed in Edward's room. Emmett was excited at the prospect of getting to stay with me for an extended period of time; he loved my human reactions and the fact that I fell a lot.

Later that day, Edward and Carlisle were gone, and Esme was upstairs relaxing, and taking a very long bath. “What do you want to do?” I asked. I was sitting on the couch, doing what I normally did while Edward was gone, which was think about Edward.

“I have an idea.” Emmett grinned evilly. “Let’s play Truth or Dare.”

“Emmett that is the stupidest thing you ever thought of. Last time we played that, bad things happened.” Alice said in an ominous tone.

“What kind of bad things?” I asked, curiosity leaking in to my voice as I watched Alice get up; disappear for a moment, then reappear, with her laptop.

She pulled up Google, and typed in something to fast for me to see. Then, she clicked the third link on the page. The Wall Street Crash of 1929, also known as the Crash of ’29, was one of the most devastating stock market crashes in American history. It consists of Black Thursday, the initial crash and Black Tuesday, the crash that caused general panic five days later. The crash marked the beginning of widespread and long-lasting consequences for the United States…..

I looked at her face with horror. “That is what happens,” Rose said from her perch on the loveseat’s arm rest next to us, “when your fiancée dares my husband to handle our stocks for a week.”

If I wasn’t scared before, now I definitely was. What had I gotten myself into? Emmett and Jasper came into the room then, ready to play judging by the looks on their faces. Emmett had an evil glint in his eye, and Alice was now sitting on the floor with a smirk that could scare anyone, human or otherwise.

“Okay, everyone, get in a circle,” she said cheerfully. Everyone arranged themselves in a small circle around the coffee table in the living room of the Cullen’s house. “Okay,” she said, “I’ll go first. Emmett? Truth or Dare?”

“Dare,” Emmett said confidently. I had a feeling that Emmett was going to make this game very interesting.

“I dare you to….” Alice continued with a smile, “Run through the park dressed as Michael Jackson asking all the little boys to come home with you.”

I couldn’t help myself; I was in hysterics by the time she finished her sentence. There was no doubt that the poor children at the park were going to be traumatized. This was going to be so much fun. Alice ran up the stairs, most likely gathering supplies for Emmett’s costume. She came back with a big, white collared shirt and a pair of black baggy dress pants. She stuck a long black wig on his head and proceeded to add some black eyeliner and red lipstick. When she was finished, he looked just like a well-muscled Michael Jackson. How did she get so good at this? We all went out and piled into Rosalie’s car, heading towards the most crowded park in Forks to execute the dare.
