The Quiet Ones

Sesshoumaru doesn’t speak overmuch.

She wonders if this is because he realizes that words are meaningless, it’s the way someone lives which should be the only judge on their character.

She wonders if it is because he thinks words are a waste of time, when everyone else should be able to divine the reasons for his actions on their own.

She wonders if it is perhaps if it’s just because he is a dog, through and through, and hasn’t quite mastered their language yet.

No matter the reason, he finds ways to show what he means, so that he doesn’t have to say anything.

When he decides that he finds her adequete, he shows her by stepping in for her defense in the final battle, taking Naraku’s last death dealing blow that was meant for her.

Kagome shows him she appreciates it by tending to his wounds, and softly caressing his face.

He shows her that he’s grateful by pressing a hard kiss in to the dip of her neck and she shows him all the places that he is allowed to go.

Sesshoumaru doesn’t speak overmuch.

So when he says he loves her, she knows he means it.
