“Hales! Come on, school waits for no man.” Said Lucas Scott with a small smile extending across his face. He was tall, blonde and had stunning blue eyes. Lucas was a kind and generous young man, who held himself most of the time like a very responsible. He stood in front of his mother Karen’s Café impatiently waiting for his friend.

“Then it will have to wait for a woman!” yelled a voice from inside. “Besides a girl needs time to gather herself.” Laughing as he yelled. A few moments passed when Lucas spoke again.

“Haley James!” Half amused as he said it. Haley, a bright young girl with spunk. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind and she is a very patient and understanding person, easy to talk to. She and Lucas has been friends for years, they had grown to be best friend.

Then a petite girl with dirty blonde hair came out of the café , throwing up her hands in aggravation.

“People need to eat Luke.” Stuffing the remainder of the muffin in her mouth. “Lets go.” Haley said running to the car, barely audible over the muffin she had yet to swallow. Lucas just looked over to her and smiled and drove off.

“So are you gonna let anyone stand in your way?” said Dan Scott, a middle aged man with anger in his voice and a dark resonating effect in his eyes. Staring down at a aggravated looking young man.

“No dad.” Nathan Scott. His soft brunette hair accentuated his piercing eyes. Nathan isn’t really a bad person, he has just been around Dan too long. He is afraid to let people in , but beyond the rough exterior is just a misunderstood, and some what’s compassionate young man. He was seemingly bored with the talk with his father as he let out a large sigh.

“Hey.” Dan said snapping his fingers in his sons face. “What’s up with you? You sound like you don’t care what happens to your basketball career.”

“What if I don’t.”

“You shut your mouth. We have worked to hard for you to go changing your mind now.”

“I’ve worked to hard.” Nathan said in a whisper glaring down at the floor.

“What?” Dan said in an agitated voice.

“Nothing.” He lied. “ Just forget it…Look I have to go. I cant be late.” He said grabbing his bad and storming out of the house he had come to hate so much.

“This just sucks.” Haley said walking with Lucas in the quad at school.

“What?”

“I haven’t gotten any requests to tutor anyone for a few weeks.”

“Oh no! it’s the end of the world.” Lucas said sarcastically. “How ever will you survive?” Starting to laugh at himself.

“Shut up.” She said playfully punching him in the arm. “Are you and Peyton gonna be at the very first and possible last karaoke night at the café? Or better yet are you gong to show us some kind of hidden talent you have?

“Yeah we’re going to be there. But the only hidden talent I will be showing off is that of clearing table.”

The two shared a laugh, then Haley spoke stopping by a door.

“Well this is my stop. I got to go. See ya later.”

“Bye.” The two said in unison. Just as Haley was out of sight, a shoulder came directly in contact with Lucas. A voice yelled out from behind him.

“Watch it!” said an irritated looking Nathan. He then looked at Lucas and gave him a smile. “Well if it isn’t Lucas. The bastard of Tree Hill. Suddenly Lucas started to speak.

“And to think, I was starting to miss your very unintelligent comebacks.” He said staring down his brother. “Haven’t you ever heard that a witty saying proves nothing?” After a brief pause Lucas began to speak again. “I didn’t think so little brother.”

“You talk a lot. You want to back that up?” Nathan said with fire in his eyes.

Lucas didn’t say another word, just smiled at him and turned away to hear Nathan speak again.

“That’s what I thought.” He said hitting fists with his friends as they started to laugh. Lucas just kept walking not even giving his lethargic brother a second thought.
