Well hello again! I’m sorry for not updating in a while but I was so busy with work and everything. To make up for it, this is an extra long chapter! More twists too! But I’ve decide to change some main plots okay, Chazz will no longer be the one who questions his sexual preferences, that will now be Jaden! Sorry if I confuse anyone.

Chapter 6

Today was finally the day. The day of the school’s marathon duel! The stakes are definitely high too for everyone. Chazz wants to win so that he will finally get a chance to visit his grandma since her time was running short. Meanwhile Blair must win the marathon in order to persuade Zane to go back to duelling. But previously Syrus overheard that something bad is going on to sabotage the race. So the little blunette was running around everywhere trying to find Blair in order to warn her about what is going on. However, Blair along with the other chosen students was having some last minute race preparations with Dr. Crowler in one of the classrooms.

“Now I want a good clean race!” lectured Crowler. “We don’t need to surely rely on such dirty methods just to win this race, after all it’s only North Academy!”

“You got it Teach! I’ll make you proud!” chirped Jaden enthusiastically as usual.

“No! The Chazz will! He’d win this race! Just like last year! Got it slacker?!” snapped Chazz as usual.

Suddenly the sound of the door knocking furiously was heard.

“Please let me in! I have something important I have to tell everyone!” it was Syrus

Crowler opened the door. “Listen slacker Boy! We’re busy discussing the marathon duel which will take place in just minutes away! So you best be getting lost right now and not to come near this room!!!” scolded Crowler as he slammed the door in Syrus’ face.

Right after that the bell rang for the marathon duel to begin and Syrus was almost trampled over by the stampede of students running across the hallway.

Everyone gathered at the school’s main quad. The 8 selected students from North Academy were already there lined up and ready to race. Then Atticus followed by Jaden, Aster, Alexis, Bastion, Hassleberry, Chazz and Blair came and lined up next to the North Academy team. All the students were cheering excitedly.

Syrus tried to get past the crowd to warn Blair about the evil plan but poor Syrus was too tiny to squeeze through the massive crowd.

Blair looked around at her team mates. They were all either stretching or looking at their cards. She figures she should probably do the same since everybody else who were watching were talking amongst themselves anyways.

Suddenly she felt nails had just digged onto her feet. She looked down at her white sneakers. Blood was dripping out of the shoes. She bent down in pain.

“I can’t believe this just happened! The race is about to start too!” she panicked to herself. She looked around for any suspects who might have done this to her. But there were so many people surrounding her it’s almost impossible to find out who might done it and without her even knowing.

Then she saw Chazz who was on her left side tying up his shoe laces. She noticed he has spike shoes! Chazz then faced her.

“Hey Flannigan! Let’s give it our best.” He smiled at her.

“Yeah…” Blair was getting suspicious of Chazz. Why did he say that? He was all rotten to her before, and he has spike shoes too. He could be the one who did it to her! He was next to her the whole time after all.

Then the Chancellor came out to the starting field holding a microphone.

“The long awaited Marathon Duel is finally here! We even have a special guest here Maximillion Pegasus!” introduced Chancellor.

Pegasus came out as stylish as ever. “Give me nice clean race boys!” he said the noticed Alexis “…and girl” then he pause when he saw Blair. He eyed her suspiciously.

“Now before I declare the start of the race, is there anyone who isn’t up to shape to do the race today?” Sheppard asked the students.

‘So if was to pull out I should probably do it now…’ Blair thought to herself. ‘Stuff it! I faced worse injuries than this!’ she decided to continue with the race.

No one else said anything. “Okay! Without further ado, let’s start the race!” the chancellor held the starting gun in position to declare the race. All the students get into position.

“On your marks… get set… GO!” the gun was triggered.

The students all took off fast! After facing the first opponent at the obstacle, it was Atticus, Jaden and Aster to finish first taking off in the lead. Plus their athletic skills pretty much put them in the lead. But of course someone was there to sabotage them.

Atticus was first so far since he has long legs making him take longer steps when he runs. He blew kisses to everyone whilst running until he was pulled aside by the collar by Jasmine. A North Academy student smiled at that sight.

“Hey babe! Sorry but I was in the middle of the race! We can go on that date later!” he said smiling but Jasmine has rage and fury in her eyes.

She shoved a piece of paper in his face. “Here’s a list of the 15 girls you’re currently dating!”

Atticus was shocked. “Uh… how did you get this?” but he was shoved from behind by Mindy

“So you were playing with me the whole time?!” she cried

Fifteen other girls shoved him around as well.

“Crap! How did you all know?!” he exclaimed

With that incident, Atticus was no longer able to participate further in the race. The north academy principal laughed hard as he saw what just happened. “Plan A worked perfectly!” he chuckled

With Atticus out of the race Aster was in the lead. Being the world’s top duelist and having great athletic skills pays off big time. This was just a small activity for him.

But suddenly a North Academy student from the sideline screamed “Look! Like OMG it’s Aster Phoenix! Don’t let him get away fangirls!!!!”

And with that a stampede of fangirls tackled Aster to the ground. Now he too could not finish the race.

The Principal of North Academy laughed once more. “Great! Now even the great Aster is down! Plan B is brilliant!”

With that incident Jaden is now in first place but suddenly North Academy students from the sideline called out to him.

“Hey Jaden! Can I duel you now?” asked one of them.

And Jaden being a bit stupid and not realising that this will absolutely slow him down replied “Sure! Get your game on! I never back down from a challenge!”

After Jaden was victorious, another student wanted to duel him next and it keeps going on and on letting several students to pass them.

“Hahaha! Shepard was an idiot to make this fool participate in the race! Duel Academy has no chances of winning now!” Cackled the North Academy Principal.

With that incident Chazz and Blair was in the lead along with one other student from North Academy. Chazz and Blair finished their duels fast but both have the same strategy that is to start consistently not too speedy to gather up energy for the last 100 meters. They ran alongside each other, their speed almost equal.

Meanwhile two boys from North Academy went into one of the toilets to pee in the urinals. Whilst doing so they were talking to each other.

“Flannigan has absolutely no chance of winning now!” said one of them.

“Yeah steeping on his foot with spike shoes was a smart plan! They’ll never guess it’s us!” said the other.

Suddenly a door from one of the toilet stalls was kicked open. Zane Truesdale stepped out of the stall and faced the two boys. Zane had heard everything they said.

“I guess you discussing your plan in a public toilet weren’t very smart at all you idiots.” He said in a calm manner as he slammed them against the wall. The two boys was scared of Zane.

”Now tell me, who made you do this?” he threatened

“Our Principal! He bribed us to do it!” they yelled out. “We’re sorry!”

Zane let them go. “You’re pathetic.” He walked out of the toilet to join the rest of the spectators.

Blair and Chazz were still running next to each other. But Blair was pushing on, her feet began to hurt more and more with every step she takes. Chazz noticed the blood on her white sneakers.

“Hey Blair, give it up. Your feet is bleeding!” he pointed out. “I’ll finish the race and win it for our school!”

That sounds good to Blair, she didn’t want to continue, and it hurt too much anyway. But then she remembered the promise she made to Zane. She then had flashbacks of pictures of Zane she had of him. He was holding medals and trophies. He had a huge genuine smile on his face. It was a smile she or anyone else hadn’t seen for a while. That was when she decided to keep going.

“I’m going to finish this race!” she finally decided. She set her speed faster.

Chazz was shocked. What could be so important to make a person push themselves this hard?! He went and caught up next to Blair again.

Meanwhile the student in the lead from North Academy ran into the bushes and switched person! Yep they cheated.

Blair, Chazz and the cheating student from North academy finally made it to the final 100 meters. They just have to run around the duel arena twice and the first person to reach the stage after running around the arena is the winner.

Blair was in the lead with Chazz in second place. But then the cheating student began sprinting beating Blair and coming now coming in first place. But Blair pushed forward again and was now alongside the cheating student.

All the spectators are now in the audience seat in the duelling arena. Zane stared at Blair. In his heart he wanted her to win this race for him, even though he knew it was a stupid reason.

It was only 50 meters left when suddenly Blair’s feet could no longer withstand it. She collapsed to the floor. Chazz was still running but saw Blair struggling on the ground.

Zane saw this and immediately jumped from his seat and ran towards Blair. Chazz too ran towards her to help, this action lost Chazz the race. The cheating student won the race. But no one cheered for him. They were all concerned about Blair.

“Listen Chazz, go get the school doctor Ms Fontaine.” Said Zane “you’re our school’s fastest runner right?”

“Yeah.” Chazz immediately took off running. He stopped in his tracks for a bit as he began to have this painful feeling in his gut. Like something important had let go of him. But Chazz continued running. Sartorious glanced at him from a distance.

Meanwhile Zane helped Blair up. “Can you walk?” he asked.

But she only collapsed again. So he placed her on his back giving her a piggyback. He carried her back that way. The whole group of spectators clapped and cheered.

“You did your best Blair!” yelled one student. They clapped at her efforts. Zane continued on carrying her when he saw the duel disk in her arm. He stared at it for a second having a flashback of the time he used to duel in this arena. He loved it like crazy. But he continued on walking.

He placed her down to the Health room. Chazz was there too. “Ms Fontaine isn’t here, I don’t know what we should do…” said Chazz

“I’ll take care of him.” Said a voice. It was Pegasus. “I’m actually very good at first Aid I’ll have this student all fixed up in no time.”

Then Sartorious came in to the health room. “Chazz can I see you for a moment?”

Chazz headed over to Sartorious outside the health room. Zane also exit the room.

“Chazz, your grandmother just past away.” Said Sartorious in a sympathetic tone.

“Damn… Chazz you fool… why do I always stuff up at the worst time?” he said in frustration.

“But she wants me to tell you she’s very proud of you Chazz.” Said Sartorious, “You see, she saw what you did. How you gave up your chances of winning to help another person out.”

“Wait! She saw that?! But how?!” said Chazz, “She isn’t here is she?!”

“Well you see, she died before the race even began. And now yes she is here to look after you. And she’s very proud of you.”

Chazz was no longer sad. “Grandma?” he called out. “You can see me everyday now!” he cheered happily.

That evening Blair finally got up. Her feet was covered in bandages. She climbed off the bed in the Health Room.

But Pegasus stopped her tracks. “What’s the hurry? Relax a bit!” he insisted.

“No I’m better now. Thank you anyway.” She said as she began to make her way out. But Pegasus blocked her path.

“Not so fast….” He smiled slyly at her. “Answer me this, what is a nice little girl like you doing dressed like a boy in a high school like this?”

Blair’s face dropped. Her cover had just been discovered.

Hahaha Sartorious reminds me of Ghost Whisperer!
