A/N: This is my new BWOC story. I know I haven't written one of these stories in a long time. But, I hope you enjoy this story.

"Hey Tommy. Get'cha head in the game!", Merton said.

Tommy looked confused. "What?", he asked taking books out of his locker.

"Get'cha head in the game. I'm trying out for High School Musical.", Merton said as he showed Tommy the script in his hands. Tommy smiled. "Good luck buddy.", he said as he tapped Merton on the shoulder. Merton sighed. "Thanks. Hey maybe you should audition too.", Merton said.

"Sorry, I'm not an actor.", Tommy said as he walked to his first class.

"Come on, you'd better audition before Brian does.", Merton said.

"Brian's auditioning?", he asked.

"I am auditioning Dawkins. So you'd have no chance anyway.", Brian said from behind Tommy. Tommy turned around and saw the dark-haired boy behind him. "Oh yeah? What makes you so sure?", Tommy asked as Brian walked and sat right in front of Tommy. Brian turned around.

"Because I always get the lead. And with my talents, you'd never stand a chance.", Brian said as he turned around and faced the blackboard. Tommy growled. "You know what, I think I will audition. Give them something to talk about.", Tommy said to Merton. Merton handed him the script. "Glad to hear that buddy.", Merton smiled.

"Alright, all auditioners on the stage now.", the drama teacher said as she clapped her hands together. Tommy sighed. He was actually going to audition. And for none other than the most popular musical between girls. He sighed as he waited his turn. First a girl named Sandy auditioned for the part of Gabriella.

"That was absolutely beautiful.", she said.

Sandy smiled and ran off stage. "Next.", the teacher called.

"I would like to try out for Sharpay.", Lori said. Tommy looked at her. "Lori?", he asked laughing. Lori shrugged. "What? Can I help it if I'm a sucker for a movie with Zac Efron in it?", she asked smiling. Tommy sighed and watched as Lori did her part. She was amazing. She would make the best Sharpay.

"Very good Ms.Baxter.", the teacher said writing her name on the callbacks sheet. "Next.".

Merton stepped forward. "I'm trying out for Ryan.", he said.

"Go on.", the teacher said taking a sip of water from her water bottle.

Merton sighed and did his part. He actually sounded good. Like he had acted before.

"Mr.Dingle, I am... stunned at your talent.", she said. "Very amazing. Next.".

She scribbled his name on the call-back list while Merton ran down to sit next to Lori.

It was getting closer to Tommy's turn. He was getting impatient. Finally... "Mr.Dawkins, we're ready for you.", she said as she stared at Tommy's brown eyes and he gulped. He sighed and walked to the front. "Who are you auditioning for?", she asked. Tommy whispered, "Troy.".

"I'm sorry.", the teacher said.

"Troy.", he said louder.

"Well, go on with the audition.", she said as she sat in her chair.

"Okay.", Tommy said, sighing. He listened to the music and began singing never taking his eyes off his archrival Brian. When he had finished the whole room, except for Brian, clapped and cheered. "Well, Mr.Dawkins, I will see you at the callbacks. And I will post the list on Friday.", she said. "Thank you to all who auditioned.".

"Wow! You were amazing Tommy!", two girls said as they passed him in the hall.

He smiled. "Thanks.", he said.

Sandy walked up to him. "Wow, I'll never be as good as you.", she whispered looking at her feet. Tommy smiled. "It sounded like you were. Don't worry, you'll definitely get the part of Gabriella.", he said winking making Sandy blush. He walked away. Only to bump into Brian. "Hunt.", Tommy said.

"Dawkins.", Brian said.

"I see you're jealous.", Tommy smirked.

"I'm not jealous.", Brian said as he crossed his arms.

"Tommy. Why didn't you tell me?", Merton ran up.

"Well, if you'll excuse me, I gotta take this.", Tommy said as he walked away. "Tell you what?", Tommy asked. Merton glared at the taller boy. "That you could sing.", he said. Tommy sighed. "Oh that. Well, I guess that everybody expects me to be a certain way.", Tommy said as he sighed.

"Well, you have some talent. Maybe you could join my band.", Merton said.

"You have a band?", Tommy asked.

"Well, no. But, I will someday.", Merton said.

Tommy rolled his eyes and walked off. Merton followed behind. But, Brian wouldn't give up that easily on the lead. If he had to bribe the drama teacher he would. He just needed to stop Tommy from getting his role. He sneered and walked down to his 3rd period class and sighed. "Dawkins, you will lose this role.", he said to himself.

A/N: Just for the record, I sorta thought about Zac Efron being Brian in the story. And also, I do not own ne of the characters except for the ones that I have made up, such as Sandy and Brian.
