The author has returned! Yup, I’m not dead yet.

Sorry to disappoint you like that. I just realized I lost too many days and that it was time to work again. True, school is taking it all out of me, I found a open space between reading, doing homework and drawing (lately I’ve gave that a special amount of attention).

What can I say, except happy reading!

“Well, Lenalee, what do you think?”

The half-Japanese girl took two steps back and took a good look at the girl in front of her. Robin’s long hair was hidden underneath her cap and she still couldn’t believe that some simple make-up could hide her feminine features so well. Her chest was as flat as a pancake at the time and with that long overcoat on her, Lenalee hardly recognized the boy that was actually a girl.

“I say that if I wasn’t there to see you put on all this get-up I never would have recognized you. You look just like a boy!” she said giving Robin a big thumbs-up. The other girl smiled at the compliment.

Robin didn’t knew Lenalee well enough to ask her any services, but this time she was really in a jam and forced herself in telling Lenalee all about her little … masquerade. Considering the surroundings, Lenalee took everything in pretty well. It was still hard for her to cope with the idea, but she agreed to help her friend.

“Thanks Lenalee. And thanks a lot for the help with the bandages. They are … quite unpleasant.”

Lenalee looked shocked. “Unpleasant? Robin, periods are unpleasant, this is murder. How can you live like this?” Robin had tears in her eyes.

“Please, don’t ask …” she pleaded, knowing well that if she were to tell Lenalee the whole story the poor girl would be traumatized for the rest of her life. That ore she wouldn’t believe her (it wouldn’t be the first time, thought).

Still Robin was thankful to the Asian girl for her help. Tying the bandages tight enough was hard and painful and every time Robin would find herself facing the fear that the tie won’t hold and the secret Cross made her keep would crumble to peaces.

Lenalee still couldn’t let things go just like that. “I still can’t believe what you got yourself into.” She said in a motherly kind of way - the kind of mother that usually scolds her children without yelling at them, but making them feel worse then they already are. “And we still don’t know how you’ll get pass this exam.”

“I am still waiting for a miracle. Hopefully master had that settled down. He is a pretty persuasive man, I dare say. I only hope I am doing the right thing.”

“Why is that?” asked Lenalee as she picked up the clothes on Robin’s bed.

“Well, my master tolled me not to do anything till he tells me to. I pray that I know him well enough to know what he’s thinking.” She said heading for the door.

“But what if you don’t?” Robin’s hand paused on the door knob, her mind searching for a good answer.

There was a long pause in which Lenalee felt like she was sitting on needless, but then Robin turned to her with, a sweet and delicate smile on her face.

“I’m dead anyway so there’s no real reason to worry.”

With that she left the room, leaving Lenalee behind to think.

(inset line here ... insert line here)

The atmosphere was as strange as strange could possibly get. At his right he had a blushing master Tiedoll while on the left he had Lavi covering his check with his hand and Daisya holding a bag of ice on his right eye.

“Ok, I’ll bite …” Kanda said in defeat, making Lavi turn. “What happened?”

“We met up with Lenalee …”

“Lenalee?” Kanda repeated, not understanding what one thing had to do with the other. Lavi continued.

“And we got a bit too friendly … Seams she didn’t recognize us but after almost ten years who could blame her. Why, we only met once in a lifetime. Hell, I would forget all about her as well if the chef wouldn’t go off showing pictures of her all around HQ with each and every occasion.” After finishing what he had to say he let out a sight and Kanda now understood where the story was going and after living with Lavi on his back for so long it was no wonder that once the usually hyperactive red-haired-teen had exposed his cheek to pick up a book from the nearby table Kanda distinctly saw a read hand mark on his cheek.

Tiedoll blushed at the memory of the situation.

Remembering that there was one more clown in his proximity, and one that was in en even better shape then the last, he found himself ask again. “And what happened to you?” he asked Daisya who looked like he would be ready to throw himself over the rail and into the ocean … if only the bells in his head would stop ringing.

The older exorcist revealed a black eye when he took off the bag of ice, and noticed the raised eyebrow Kanda had. There was no avoiding the question, especially when Kanda had a good enough idea of what was the reason for the blackened eye. “I, kind of …” The only problem was how to say it without the whole Order fining out. “… I met up with one of Lenalee’s friends and kind of … forgot to keep my hands where they … I mean I know I goofed but It …”

“Spill it up!” Kanda gnawed, revealing his Mugen.

“I touched a girl’s … butt” Tiedoll’s face became red as a tomato and Kanda simply stared at his team mate. Even thought the last part of the sentence was only a whisper Kanda could hear it ever so clearly, and at the moment his brain managed to process the information Kanda’s fist came in contact with Daisya’s head. But all the same, he regretted not being there when it all happened. That would have been quite the scene.

But then again, he would have regretted not going.

Kanda could still remember the sight of General Cross and Supervisor Komui talking about something of what the Japanese suspected as to be something of great importance for they both had serious expressions on their faces. Usually he wouldn’t eardrop on another persons’ conversation, but the temptation was just too great to help himself. Like a cat, he moved closer to the two and hid behind a barrow, perching up his ears to her them.

“You think you can do that for me?”

“Let me get this straight. You want me to do something that would send you at the Supreme Court at the Vatican charged for treason and make me lose my job and probably my head along with it.” Komui had said as if was a mere fact. “The offer sure is tempting but I must say no.”

“Come now Komui, where’s your adventure spirit?”

“Never had one, but regardless of how much I would love to help you I still made an oath when I joined.”

There was a long pause but then Cross finally spoke up, but in a voice so thoughtful Kanda never imagined the General could poses.

“I gave the kid my word on it. I can’t back away now, no matter how much I hate it.”

“I still think it’s a bad idea. We are putting our heads on the line for someone who, by nature, is supposed to be an enemy. And now, you, of all people, are asking me help hide it from the secretary? You must have a death wish, General.”

“I know what you must be thinking but I also know you know it’s the right thing to do so before you’ll do anything, think things over. Till then, Supervisor …”

That was when they parted, leaving Kanda in the dark. It was odd that he wished Lavi was there when it happened, because as much as he hated to accept it, the rabbit was way better at figuring things out then he was. But then again, this was none of his business and as much as he liked to know what was going on, his mind went against his desire and pretended nothing had ever happened. After all, he was just an exorcist while the other two were very important people within the Order.

‘And it’s not like there was something I could do about it anyway’ and he knew that was the truth.

Just then, the door to the hall crept open and a young boy, no older then fifteen from what he could see, came in after bowing his head a little he closed the door again and took a seat near Lavi. Kanda noticed how his gloved hand reached for a magazine but stopped to think about the choice then got another one.

Nothing out of the ordinary, but Lavi was right there to point out the abnormal in the normal.

“He’s Cross’s disciple, isn’t he?” he said in Kanda’s ear, eyes never leaving the new comer.

“So what if he is?”

“Don’t you find it a bit odd?”

Kanda looked at the boy who was now browsing the magazine. What was so strange in that? Reading the expression on his comrade’s face, Lavi moved to explaining everything is a short whisper.

“The guy almost picked up a girl’s magazine. Isn’t that strange?” Kanda didn’t know at the time if he was annoyed ore intrigued by Lavi’s observation. Maybe the boy was a bit more girly for all he knew; ore better yet, he made a mistake. Children often make mistakes when going to the doctor.

“Maybe he just hates doctors, so give it a rest already. Lavi.”

The boy was looking a bit nervous to begin with. It was for an inexperienced eye to notice that, but Kanda had more then enough experience. The bowed head and the continuous movement of fingers on the paper were more then suitable proof for him, but he couldn’t quite point out exactly why the younger one was nervous.

“What happened to the always suspicious Yuu-chan, Yuu-chan?”

It didn’t take long for Mugen’s tip to reach a sweating Lavi’s nose, the two exorcists gaining the whole room’s attention.

“Call me by my name again and I will slice you in two.”

“Hehe … Relax, Yuu-chan …”

Some people might actually learn from their mistakes, but others were simply to dense to do so. Lavi just so happens to be one of those people. Nobody was really surprised when the overactive bunny was running around the room with a dangerous Japanese exorcist on his tale.

“Somebody save me!” cried Lavi as he kept on running and practically swore out loud when he spotted Daisya taking up bets on how long will Lavi last until Kanda will slice him to peaces. Planning to get back at the older exorcist was a big no-no, especially when you’re been chased, because before Lavi got the chance to understand what was happening he tripped on one of the small tables and landed on the couch Robin was sitting on.

Shocking his head to make the bells stop from ringing, he got a good look at the face of the one he knew to be Cross’ disciple. The boy’s face was pale and a bit feminine, even more then Kanda’s. He could clearly see a nasty cut that went right over his left eye, all the way from his forehead down the cheek. But the most surprising thing about the boy was the eyes he had. The color of the stormy sky and in the same time as clear as ice-clean water, those eyes were captivating and if he didn’t knew he was a boy, then Lavi would have cried “strike” in the best manner he could ever make. Still, he didn’t know why, but he could have sworn he saw those eyes before.

But there was no time for goofing around. In the middle of his taught he was interrupted by a shadow that cast itself down on him. It was Kanda and his eyes were demanding blood. At the sight of Mugen healed tightly in his hands, Lavi paled intently and without even thinking he dukes behind Robin, pleading for mercy.

Meanwhile, Robin was facing a crude dilemma: that of how had she gotten herself into such a problem in the first place.

She was a bit nervous when she entered the room, but when only a few heads turned to look at her for only a brief moment she relaxed. Everything was going well and she took a seat a little further away from the others. Still, being in the same room with so many exorcists made her feel uneasy. Trying to shock the feeling away she moved to pick up a magazine and browse it a little, just to calm her down. Unconsciously, she moved to pick up “Real Life”, one of her favorite magazines. But just then she was supposed to be Allen Walker, a boy, and from experience, she knew that no fifteen year old boy was ever seen looking at such a womanly magazine. Looking around the others, she spotted one more suitable for “Allen”, a older edition of “Aviation”. She was not fond of those weird things called airplanes, but at least that would shake out any unwanted attention. Ore so she hopped.

A little further away from her, a read-head she recognized from earlier that day was whispering something to another boy she had also recognized. And also, luck had it that a third party was also there: the pervert from earlier that day.

She was a bit glad when she saw his blackened eye, but also a worried. What if the red-haired recognized her and now he was telling the other one. She was getting more worried by the moment and unconsciously began to play with the papers.

She practically jumped out of her skin when the Japanese teen pulled out his katana but then looked at him in amazement when he pointed it the red-haired exorcist. Everything was upside down for her and just as she was getting her thoughts sorted, she fond the boy she remembered was named Lavi land near her. He had looked at her for a moment and she was glad that Lenalee had placed a ton of make-up on her face, otherwise the boy would have been looking at a face as read as scarlet. The moment didn’t last long thou for the other boy, who the Cook said was called Kanda, came close to Lavi with murderous intention. In a split second, Lavi was behind her, practically bagging for mercy and now she was the one who was facing a very sharp katana, one that might do her a lot more damage then it can ever do to the frightened teen.

“Yuu-chan, please calm down. You’re scaring the others.”

“I don’t give a dam! I endured long enough. I want your head!”

“Then please point that sharp thing towards him, not me!” Robin screamed out in fear. “I don’t know what you’re problem is but I have nothing to do with it!”

Just then they were interrupted by the sound of Komui’s voice reassuring another exorcist. “See, I tolled you it won’t be that bad.”

“Next time make sure to worn me!” the other yelled back and left the waiting room in a hurry. He sure looked like he was glad to be out.

“Allen Walker?” the scientist asked. Robin, remembering that was the name she was supposed to go on as, sat 45 percents of her attention over to Komui (the remaining 65 percents were reserved for Kanda’s Mugen)

“Present …” she muttered in a high voice, mostly from fear.

“It’s your turn now. Kanda-kun, Lavi-kun, please let our friend go.”

Robin noticed the look on the Japanese boy’s face and she didn’t like it at all. The Asian didn’t seam pleased, but finally obeyed and moved Mugen in a more harmless position. Seeing this as her chance to escape, she hurried away from the two and on her feet. She was nervous, but she hoped she was a good enough actor as to hide this.

Tough moving steady and even, she could hear her how her blood vessels were pounding in her ears. Her eyes were starting to wonder around the room in search of something not even she knew. Then she spotted him: a man about ten years older then Komui. He was breathing hard and sweating more then even her. His eyes were too wide for a normal person and he was holding onto his head with both his hands. From where she stood, the other man wearing an exorcist’s cote was looking pretty much like a madman. But that was only what one of her eyes had to say, the other’s words were totally different.

She could see it.

The spirit that was chained inside, the spirit held captive within an empty case … she could see the akuma. She had spotted it from the moment she had entered the room, but knew there was nothing she could do yet. If she was to attack the thing then she might have a chance in killing it with only one blow, but then again she would have to explain herself in front of a dozen other exorcists why had she just killed one of their comrades.

No. She couldn’t afford to make mistakes at a time like this. She decided that it was best to just pretend as if everything was all-right. The sole was not too deteriorated so she had to estimate that it was a level 1, 1.5 in the worst case. Inferior levers aren’t very smart, so she shouldn’t worry too much. But then again it looked disabled, like it would burst in any second.

But it wasn’t long before that prediction had come true.

It has been mere moments till Robin has reached the middle part of the room and half way to the door to the medical cabin. This moment was crucial. The other akuma knew she was one too but she didn’t know how it would react. It was a dangerous game and she had to play it well.

Finally, the other broke.

In a flash, the other akuma’s body began to change and twist until all could see its true nature. Indeed, it was a level one and from its reactions Robin could see that it was its first time killing. ‘Too slow’ she wanted to say, but instead chose to move into action. There was nothing she could do. It has exposed itself before it was time. Sooner ore later someone would have found it and exorcise it. The only thing that cheered her up was the thought that she was the one to do it, for she had managed to mutter a gentle ‘good night’ to the poor thing before the spirit passed the boundaries of this simple human world.

“Wow, good reflexes kid!” one of the exorcist said wile some others seemed sad, ore were saying things like “it was about time they gave themselves away.”

“I agree. And what agility … I see we have a rare talent among us. Why don’t we hurry up so you can get back and celebrate his little victory?” Komui said happily showing her the still opened door.

It was not over. She was still playing this game and she couldn’t afford to lose. Taking air in what she believed to be lungs she moved closer and closer towards to door till finally, she passed both it and Komui, now fully entering the other room.

She made it. But still wondered what will happen once that door would close. Again, it didn’t take long for that to happen as well, for shortly after, the door closed behind her.

As for poor Lavi, he was left to stare in horror at the now closed door as Kanda’s Mugen has yet again gained its rightful place at Lavi’s neck, a truly devious grin dancing across Kanda’s usually straight face.

Liked it? Hope so cuz’ this was my 16th attempt to write this dam thing. I just couldn’t get the part with Cross and Komui out to well (they are complex characters and I find it hard to write about them). Still, Robin is fun to porter and also fun to write about. And the reason why she may seam a bit OOC for you (if you stay to compare her with Allen) would be because she is a whole lot different from the Allen we all know and love. Still, I’m not sure myself if that is what she is suppose to think, but giving the circumstances I plan to make this a bit more like a Death Note fanfic then a actual -man one. I need practice in writing and this is just the stile I need most practice with. It will still have it’s moments of romance, but when you are a akuma on a ship filled with exorcists in the middle of the ocean you must know how to outwit them all, otherwise you won’t survive.

That’s all for now! Reviews are loved and critics are encouraged, flames are ok but silence pains me.

R&R as per usual.
