Disclaimer: Der Videospiel "KH" ist nicht mein. (that...vaguely made sense?)
Music: Hurry Xmas, L'arc-en-Ciel
Dedication: For Kira Sakura, who has written enough for me to warrant a whole frickin multi-chapter dedicated to her. C:

“So,” the interviewer asked casually, “have you ever had a gig for more than five people?”

Riku (age fourteen) shared a look with the other members of his band before speaking. “Well...five people isn’t very much. We usually play for ten, twelve people at a time.”

“And your fans, are they cool like you?”

“They’re all pretty awesome. I mean, without them bands wouldn’t be able to do what they do—they’re the ones who buy all the CDs and go to lives and stuff, so...” Riku trailed off, shrugging.

“Hey, remember that one girl who chased Sora all throughout town? That was insane,” Axel (age fourteen) said, laughing and tugging at the two or so hats on his fire-red hair.

“Don’t remind me,” Sora (age fifteen) grumbled. “That was sooo not cool—why do I get all the creepy fans?”

Roxas (age sixteen) rolled his eyes. “Birds of a feather, maybe?”

Sora punched him in the arm. “Shut up.”

“So, here we are,” Riku said, standing in front of the small motel they would be staying in for the next day or so. “Might as well get settled in. And then we can get food.”

“Food sounds good,” Sora agreed.

The four checked in, dropped off their luggage in their respective rooms (Sora, Roxas and Axel were all sharing a room. Riku had somehow gotten a room all to himself) and then went to bug a ride out of Marluxia, Riku and Axel’s dad. Mom. Both. Whatever. (the twins' parents were divorced, so Marluxia had taken over most of a mother’s responsibilities as well)

After they’d arrived at the local grocery store, they quickly grabbed a cart and rushed through the store, with Riku balancing on the front, Roxas and Axel on either sides and Sora running as he pushed the shopping cart before jumping on.

“Shit!” Roxas yelled, after thirty seconds of riding through grocery aisles. “We’re going to fricking crash!”

Sora cursed, before hopping off the cart and digging his heels into the linoleum floor while still holding onto the handle.

The cart stopped inches away from the other side of the aisle, with Riku’s feet centimeters away from the frozen food refrigerator’s door.

“That,” Axel began, “was a little too close for my own good.”

Riku twitched. “You think you were close? Shoes are two inches away, here!”

“You know,” Sora interjected, “Let’s just...back away. Slowly,” he said, pulling the cart away. “Everyone off the vehicle, now.”

One by one, they got off before walking soberly down the frozen food lane.

“Uh, Sora...,” Riku began.

“What?” he snapped.

“We don’t need anything from here. You’re in the wrong aisle.”

“...oh.”

Five seconds later, Sora turned the cart around sharply, nearly knocking Riku over as it skidded on two wheels.

“The hell was that for?” Riku asked, glaring.

Sora shrugged. “I didn’t see you. My bad.”

”Your bad, my ass!” he retorted, twitching. “You nearly ran me over!”

Ende gut, alles gut,” Sora replied, sticking his tongue out.

“Oh, fuck you,” Riku said.

“You know, if Dad find out you used that language, you’re in deep shit,” Axel interjected.

Roxas rolled his eyes. “You’d be in trouble too, Axel.”

Sora peered over the top of Riku’s head. “By the way, y’know your roots are showing, right? It might be time to get some more hair dye.”

Riku cursed, looking for a mirror to see if, indeed, the natural silver colour was showing through the black dye.

“Why does nobody tell me about this?” he asked nobody in particular.

Sora shrugged. “Because it’s fun to see your reaction to it when we do?”

“That’s just mean,” Riku said, before running to look for the hair product aisle.

The other three shared a look. “I wonder when he’ll remember we pulled that trick on him last week,” Axel said after a pause.

Roxas shook his head. “He probably won’t. But we can see if he remembers he has six boxes of the same colour in the bathroom at home.”

As if on cue, Riku came storming back. “I do not have roots,” he said sorely.

Sora sighed. “Never mind.”

Riku looked between the other three. “What were you talking about...?” he asked slowly.

Axel whistled—or at least, tried too. And failed badly. “Oh, nothing.”

Riku frowned at him. “Suuuuure...”

There was an awkward pause.

So, what else to we need to get?” Riku asked cheerfully, waking down the hall. “Do we need any vegetables or shit?”

Sora shook his head. “I don’t think anyone feels like cooking tonight. Let’s just get some instant stuff and go back. That okay with you guys?”

Axel shrugged. “S’fine with me. Rox?”

“Yeah, s’all good,” Roxas answered.

“Same here,” Riku added.

“Cool. Let’s go, then.”

“We’ll take the bags out!” Axel said helpfully to Marluxia, coincidentally preventing them from paying the bill, and leaving Marluxia to put it on his credit card.

The four unloaded the plastic bags into the back of the van, shut the hatch and went to return the shopping cart to the corral.

“Hey, hey, Sora. Push me, ‘kay?” Axel said, hopping into the cart with his knees hanging over the edge.

Sora rolled his eyes. “Why not?” He grabbed the cart with Axel in it and started running, before letting go, watching Axel sail across the parking lot.

“You’re going to crash, you know!” Riku called. Axel rolled his eyes, stuck his legs out straight and braced for the impact. It came with a large amount of noise, as Axel’s feet pushed the carts he crashed into together. He hopped out, and walked back to the other three.

“That,” he proclaimed, “was fun.”

“It was dangerous, too,” Riku said, put out.

“Yeah, well, you’re a sissy,” Axel replied.

“...you're a prick, then,” Riku said, making a face.

“Girls, girls. No reason to fight,” Sora said, grinning.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Him,” Axel said, pointing at Riku, “I can understand. But me?”

Roxas shrugged. “You have the same face, don’t you?”

“But...but...the hair! The clothes! The nails!” Axel cried, flailing wildly and pointing in the general direction of Riku’s black-painted fingernails. “Total difference!”

Riku stuck out his tongue. “You’re just jealous ‘cause Dad won’t let you dye your hair.”

Axel shuddered, eyeing the lone purple streak in his twin’s hair. “I’m glad he doesn’t.”

Marluxia drove up to them, rolling down the driver’s window down. “Boys, into the car. I’m sure you want to eat, and the longer you stay here the longer you wait.”

Riku sighed. “Alright, alright, we’re coming.

“I hear you have a new single out,” the interviewer commented. “What’s it called?”

“Uhm...’It’s my Life’?” Axel replied, the German accent tinting his English.

The four immediately burst out laughing uncontrollably for a reason the interviewer couldn’t fathom.

“Really?” he asked.

“No!” Axel replied quickly, still laughing away. The band continued to laugh for a good while, with random repeatings of the phrase ‘It’s my Life’ thrown in for good measure. (Mostly by Riku)

And so, that was how the interview ended. It was a good thing the group didn’t know it would be released on a special DVD for the fans until it was too late.

AN: Okay, I know Axel and Riku being twins and Sora and Roxas not makes little sense. But, as a fanfiction writer, it is my job to break through the status quo and challenge the limits of what we, as authors, can do. Does it not then, make sense to not go with what conventional writers would do and instead set a new limit?

Kidding. (partially) I figured (since these are set positions, the twins are guitarist and singer, and the drummr and bassist are unrelated--they just met randomly) that if I set Roxas and Sora as twins, it would become centered around them. And I SUCK at writing Sora. And Roxas to an extent. Ages are arbitrary. I know it doesn't make much sense. And don't worry, Riku will return to his natural hair colour in later chapters. (:

A nice little prize to the first person who can guess what musical group this fic has been based off of. (if you know your stuff, the interview should've given it away. xD) x3

Pairings will be decided later. Axel is the older twin by ten minutes. xD

I do hope you'll stick around for the next chapter! Thank you very much for reading, und yorushiku onegai shimasu!

EDIT: 11/30/07: general typos cleared up. I'll elaborate much more on the setting, etc. in the next chapter (which will probably be a little more...wistful than this one.) in the meantime, GO READ SAKULINE. xD It needs love. I'm not kidding
