A/N: Because so many people asked, I decided to write one more part of this. Enjoy! Also, you should know that this story is set after the trial, probably about a week later.
The sunlight came through the window at eight the next morning, casting a warm light over Emmett’s face. He woke up slowly, eyes opening, and realized, suddenly, that somehow during the night, he’d managed to completely wrap his arms around Elle. His first instinct was to jump away, but he didn’t want to risk waking her up. He watched her as she slept, the sun making her blonde hair lighter than it already was, and she stirred, eyes fluttering open.
The first thing she noticed was Emmett’s eyes looking at her, and the second was that after she’d placed his arm back around her during the night, she had shifted back so that she was completely against him, which she realized totally crossed the friendship line.
“Um…” she said, glancing around awkwardly.
“I...um…sorry.” he said, pulling his arms back at his sides, Elle noticing the coldness without them there.
“No, no, it’s fine.” She said, slowly sitting up, “I…actually…okay, I have a confession.”
He looked at her, eyebrows raised.
“Well, last night, I woke up because your arm slipped onto me. I put it back and tried to go back to sleep, but then…” She trailed off, blushing, “I kind of…put it back.”
His eyes widened. “What?”
“I…okay, I don’t know what happened, I was being impulsive, I just…I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that-“
She was cut off suddenly by Emmett’s lips on hers, kissing her softly. When they pulled apart, she let her jaw drop in surprise, feeling like she wasn’t good enough for this moment with her disheveled hair and pajamas, when she saw him smile.
“What was that for?” she asked, breathlessly.
“I was being impulsive.” He said, referencing her earlier ramblings.
She smiled back at him, “How long…how long have you felt that way about me?”
He looked down and mumbled, “Since you took me shopping.”
She raised her eyebrows at him, hitting him lightly on the arm. “You’ve felt this way for a month and didn’t tell me?”
He shrugged. “I figured…you would never want someone like me, especially since you came here for Warner…”
She shook her head, “Warner and I are over. We never would have worked out. But you…God, Emmett, I wish you’d told me sooner. I…I’ve been in love with you for such a long time…”
His eyes shot up at her when he heard the word ‘Love,’ and suddenly every doubt he’d had about them seemed to fly away.
“I love you too. So much.”
With that, he kissed her properly, giving her a chance to respond to him.
“You know,” she said when they broke apart, smiling and taking his hand, “We should be impulsive more often.”
A/N: So…random. But that’s okay.
