Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. Meh, that's about it.
Whelp, here's the story, peeps!
Chapter 1: Youngest Uchiha's Christmas Gift
The sky darkened slightly as it began to snow, gentle yet cold winds blowing softly outside. But what did it matter? He was inside, where it was safe, warm and calm...
"Aww!! He's so CUTE!!"
Eh, so much for calm...
Two cerullion blue eyes simply looked up at the woman before her, her dark eyes twinkling as she stared at him. She reached over and ran a hand through his golden mane, making his ears twitch with affection. Although he was NOT cute (rugged and handsome, he prefered), he didn't mind the compliment one bit. Not one bit, and he didn't even mind sitting underneath the giant Christmas tree or being surrounded by many, many presents.
But the pink bow was a little too much...
"Mother, it's a male fox. You should not discrace his gender with pink bows." A deep voice said, speaking the large kitsune's thoughts. "Yes, and he is sort of big for a fox. Are you sure he's kitsune?" Another male voice asked, removing the bow and replacing it with a blue bandana.
'Now that's more like it.'
The fox was indeed very large, probably as big as a donkey, if not bigger. He was, in many ways, unusual. He had a long golden mane that fell over his shoulders and back, completely hiding the fluffy scruff of his neck easily; his fur coat was moderately long and completely gold instead of brown or red. Two black tipped ears poked through from under the spikey locks, twitching at every little sound made. His body rippled with muscles, shifting at every small movement he made. The most unusual thing was the large spiral scar on his belly, the spiral surrounded by smaller scars that looked almost like words.
Instead of the usual brown or gold, his eyes were a very rare cerullion blue, staring at the humans in the room with inhuman intellegence. Underneath such beautiful and unusual eyes were three, long, whisker-like scars on each cheek, every individual scar traveling from under his eyes to the end of his cheeks. Last but not least, he had a long fluffy tail, the tip of the tail looking as though it was dipped in white paint.
'Of course I'm a kitsune, you retard! I just happen to be the king of kitsune and the biggest one alive...' The fox thought, standing up and walking over to the younger male. He pushed up effortlessly and placed his front paws on the male's shoulders, standing up on his hind legs. The fox looked down at the human he was steadying his balance on and gave a foxy smile, his tail wagging as he gave him a doggy-kiss on the cheek. The male lips quirked up to a small smile, patting the fox's head affectionately.
"Well, he certainly is a big fox. He's taller than you on his hind feet, Itachi!" The male's mother said quietly, almost skipping over to the two. The said fox turned his head to look at the woman, lightly pushing off of Itachi and onto her shoulders. She giggled as he gave her doggy kisses, his tail wagging swiftly behind him. She pushed his muzzle away gently and smiled up at the kitsune warmly as she stroked his ears, earning a happy purr from the massive fox; mind you that this kitsune stood a head taller than her and a few inches taller than Itachi, and he's 5'11.
"But he's sweet, Fugaku. He'll be a great present for Sasuke. Plus he'd be a great hadicap animal." She finished, still scratching the fox's ears. When she was finished, he got his paws off of her shoulders, landing gently on the floor. He looked up at the last male of the room, who was, in turn, staring straight back at him. 'Handicap animal? Is the kit blind or something?'
"Well..." Fugaku began, rubbing his chin in thought. The fox raised a furry eyedrow before twitching his ears, tilting his head cutely to the side.
'Heh, for the king of kitsune, I'm sure not acting like a ferocious beast.' He thought, almost shaking his head. The female gave him another gentle ear rub, causing him purr once more. 'But then again, they don't seem like humans I should snap at. They're nice enough...' He was brought out of his thoughts when the male, most likely the leader, shook his head.
"Well, I guess he can stay for Sasuke. And he'd be able to go back to his school with someone keeping an eye on him." He decided, walking over to the fox and patting his head gently. A grin etched across his lips as the male smiled down at him, wagging his tail happily. Although he did admit that he wanted to know why Sasuke was handicaped .. Oh well. At least he can get a new place to stay from the cold outside...
"Mikoto, you can bring Sasuke down here now." He said, turning to look at the woman. She only shrugged and began to walk out the door. "Alright, but be careful; there's about to be a stampede of children." She warned teasingly, jogging away and closing the door.
Itachi turned to look at the fox, crouching to be eye-level to him. "My little brother became bound to a wheelchair in an accident, so he had to be homeschool for the two months. Because of that, he didn't get too see his friends a lot. Your job is to be his aid and his friend." He explained softly, patting the kitsune's head.
The fox just nodded his head, fully understanding his job... until he remembered that he was under a Christmas tree. He was under a huge, decorated tree with many presents surrounding his large form, which meant...
'Uh oh...'
All three males looked up at the ceiling when they heard little feet loudly running around, all of them rushing down the stairs. They waited, eyes locked onto the door before them. Suddenly, the door burst open, many kids of different ages pooling into the extremely large living room.
'Woah!' Thought the fox, turning tail and disappearing behind the tree; good thing he was smart enough to leave before anyone saw him. He watched from under the tree, sighing as all the kids sat down and began to unrap their presents. Adults entered the room a few moments later, all of them smiling when their kids came up to them and thanked them for the gifts. All, except one...
One boy, no older than five, stood out from everyone, charcoal eyes downcast as he was wheeled over to the tree by Itachi. Nothing there was for him, not a single gift, and his older brother stated such a fact to him. 'Is that the Sasuke kit?' He thought, watching as he stopped with his brother.
"Nothing, aniki?"
"Nothing in a box, atleast. You got something better than a boxed present."
"What?"
"Wait a minute, he's coming up now." He said gently, a tone he only used with his brother and mother. Sasuke looked up at his older brother. Itachi pointed at the tree , as if cueing the fox to walk out.
He could take a hint.
The fox padded until he was in view, earning a loud gasp from the black-haired boy. The animal was huge! Such a gasp caught everyone's attention, all eyes staring at the boy with question. He looked up at Itachi with a silent question, his mouth open with disbelief. The older male smiled and patted his brother on the head, kneeling beside the wheelchair. "He's a kitsune, one just as big as a donkey."
'And still growing, buddy.' The fox thought, huffing slightly.
Large charcoal eyes shifted to stare into cerullion blue, causing the fox to tilt his head. The boy wouldn't come closer to him, probably because he was afraid of running over a paw. The fox mentally shrugged. 'Then I'll just have to come closer to him.' With that thought, he walked over and sat down infront of Sasuke, looking down at his shorter form before nuzzling the crook of his neck. He giggled as the fox's cold nose trailed over his bare skin, bringing his hands up to cup the kitsune's scarred cheeks.
Every occupant in the room, except Itachi, Fugaku and Mikoto, gasped at the sight of the kitsune, eyes wide as they saw how big the fox was compared to Sasuke. The fox was sitting down and Sasuke was in a wheelchair, and he was still two heads taller than the boy before him!
Sasuke's lips twitched slightly before curling into a large grin, his dark eyes sparkling at the fact that the mighty fox was his pet. He was huge, bigger than any other dog or wolf, and he was his! All his!! At such thought, he reached out, his short arms attempting to rap around his neck. The fox raised a paw off the floor and leaned into the hug, a smile stretching across his muzzle as he looked at the chair-bound boy.
"Cool!!"
He snapped his head up to see all the children flocking for him, all with gleaming eyes and wide smiles. They surrounded him and Sasuke, their hands stroking his soft fur. He looked around, hearing many voices shouting as the kids petted him, Sasuke pouting slightly against him, obviously jealous that his fox wasn't giving him attention.
'Hmm...' He got up to stand, making the boy hugging him let go to stare up in the unique eyes. He lowered his head to Sasuke, motioning him to grab onto his muzzle by nudging his chest lightly. The boy complied and yelped when the fox lifted him up from the floor, craning his neck so he could slide safely on his back. Sasuke blinked before grinning, grabbing onto his mane like someone would to a horse's reins. The fox lowered himself so that two more kids could get on before trotting around the room, earning squeals of joy from the riders. The adults all chuckled as they watched the scene, the giant fox playing gently with the kids of the Uchiha clan.
Sasuke laughed as he nuzzled the fox's neck, giggling when the spikey yet soft mane tickled him. "Naruto... your name will be Naruto." He whispered, a large bright smile on his lips. The fox perked his ears up, grinning himself as he trotted around with the children. 'He guessed my name... Odd... Huh, I guess that was a lucky break for me. Besides, I think I'm gonna like it here.' Naruto thought, wagging his tail as he played 'horsie' with every child in the household.
"Kids, dinner!"
Naruto snorted and opened his eyes, raising his head from the warm lump on his front legs. He opened his mouth and yawned, revealing several rows of razor-sharp teeth. The large fox moved to stretch, but stopped when the weight on his front legs stopped him. Looking down, he saw Sasuke sleeping soundly against him, nuzzling into his chest sleepily. His ears perked when he realized that all the children he had played with earlier were snuggled against his body, some using his tail as a blanket.
This caused a smile to make it way to his lips, eyes softening as they all huddled closer to him. 'Aww..' He thought, looking around to every child against his body.
"Aww!" He looked up when someone quietly voiced his thoughts, his blue eyes landing on Mikoto. She smiled at him and placed a hand on her cheek, dark eyes twinkling with adoration. "You make a good babysitter, you know." She said, padding quietly over to the large fox. He only tilted his head, ears perked up. 'Babysitter? I thought I was suppose to look after the boy only, not the whole litter of kits.'
"And it seems that you make a good, fluffy pillow too." He snorted, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, I bet you're hungry." "You better believe it, lady!"Remembering that she couldn't understand him, he nodded his head, letting his pink tongue hang out while he panted. Mikoto, having no problem with an animal that can understand every word she was saying, smiled, tapping her son on his forehead.
Sasuke mummered something into Naruto's fur, trying to escape whoever was attempting to wake him up. "Sasuke, if you don't wake up, I'm gonna have to eat your share of the cookies..." His dark eyes snapped open immediately, making a sound of protest and sitting up from his position.
Upon hearing the word 'cookies', all the kids woke with a jump, racing out of the living room and to the kitchen. They left Naruto, Sasuke and Mikoto to stare at their retreating backs. Mikoto smiled and shook her head before standing up, looking down at Sasuke and his fox companion. "Come on, you two." She said, motioning towards the door. Sasuke, with Mikoto's help, got up on his back and the kitsune stood up, trotting after the young woman and following her to the kitchen.
When they reached the dining room, Naruto couldn't help but stop and gape. 'Woah.'
Fugaku, dressed in a black robe casually leaned back in the comfortable red plush velvet dining chair in which he was sitting in that was at the head of the long cherry wood dining table. The table was so large that it could seat up to at least twenty people and was formally decorated with a few antique golden candleholders with white candles and white linen doilies situated underneath a couple of small brown wicker baskets that were all generously filled with various ripened fruits. Also at each seat’s place setting were fine white china dinner plates and expensive silver flatware that were all arranged properly.
The dining room itself was very large as well. The flooring, which was neatly polished to a reflective shine, consisted of a checkered pattern in black & white marble and the walls were made up of smooth gray stone. Many expensive hand-painted oil paintings of various people and scenic settings hung all around the room, as well as golden antique candleholders situated here and there along all of the walls. Hanging above them was a large, pure gold chandaleir.
'Damn, these people are rich.' He thought, looking around in awe. He heard a small sound come from his rider and continued on, passing the all ready seated children on the way. From the dining room, he entered the kitchen, looking around as he was met with new surroundings. It was simple enough, to rich people standards, at least. But it still looked really nice.
"Go to Mama, Naruto." Sasuke said, so quietly that only those with inhanced hearing could pick up. Luckily, Naruto had such hearing and complied, padding over to Mikoto and nudging her hip with his nose. She looked down at him and Sasuke before smiling, handing her youngest son a plate. He grabbed it, but his mother didn't let go immediately. "Are you sure you can ride your fox while holding this plate?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Naruto." Mikoto took a visage of slight surprise, looking down at Sasuke. She smiled and nodded, even though he couldn't see the movement. "So you named him." Sasuke nodded, while Naruto gave a short bark. Mikoto let out a small laugh before letting go of the plate with a stern, "Be careful," allowing Naruto to walk slowly back into the dining room.
The kitsune stopped beside the table, settling on his belly to let Sasuke off. The boy stared at him for a moment before setting the plate down on the floor, tilting his head. 'Right, he's handicapped.' The fox thought. He craned his neck back and allowed the boy to grab on. Moving slowly, he managed to get him down on the floor safely, the child leaning against Naruto's side and moving the plate down infront of him. The fox's nose has been teased by the smell of the dinner; succulent salmon steak, au gratin potatoes and steamed asparagus.
He lowered his ears and let out a quiet whine, the sound heard by the boy leaning against him. He cut the fish in half with his fork, separating the two pieces. He picked up a few potatoes and asparagus and held them infront of Naruto, a smile etched onto his lips. "You want some?"
The fox ran his tongue over his lips and toke the offered meal with his front teeth, careful not to hurt Sasuke in the process. He tossed back his head, one of the potatoes in his jaws, and chewed, swallowing the bits of the cooked vegetable. Doing the same with the other potatoes, asparagus and salmon, he finished within two minutes, feeling satified. As his thanks, Naruto gave the youngest Uchiha a lick on the cheek, earning a laugh from the handicapped child. He rubbed his cheek to remove the fox drool, his smile still plastered on his face.
After he finished his own dinner and his promised cookies, Sasuke somehow managed to climb back onto Naruto's back (with the fox's help, of course), who stood up and trotted to the kitchen, where the maid was washing the dishes. "Here you go, ma'am." Sasuke said, holding the plate out to her. The maid smiled and took it from him, giving the two pats on the head. "Thank you." She simply said.
Naruto nodded to her before trotting out of the kitchen and dining room, sniffing his way down the hall and into another room leaving that room to go into another. He simply explored the large house, trotting during the whole trek. The boy on his back bounced happily, a bright smile on his features as his mighty fox journeyed around the house. He patted the kitsune's back lightly with is hands, signaling him to go faster. Naruto obeyed and trotted faster, getting patted on the back once more.
The kitsune grinned. 'So, you want to see how fast I can go, huh kit? So be it!' With that thought, he took off, letting out a laughing bark when he heard Sasuke shout with glee.
After about an hour of nothing but running around the house like a lunatic, Naruto stopped his romp to take a short break. He let his tongue hang out as he panted, lying down to the floor beneath him. 'Betcha that was a lot of fun, pup.' He thought to himself, turning his head to look at the quieted boy. His blue eyes softened when they landed on the sleeping form of Sasuke, the handicapped child leaned forward on the kitsune's neck.
'Guess I wore him out. Heh heh.'
Standing up quietly, the fox made his way to the living room, where he found Fugaku and Mikoto cuddled together on the couch while they watched a movie on a widescreen TV. Naruto let out a bark, catching their attention immediatly. He moved so they could see the slumbering Sasuke, giving them an expectant look. Mikoto chuckled before getting up from her spot, walking over to the large fox.
"Looks like you wore him out." She said, taking the boy in her arms gently. With a comment to her husband, she took her son up the stairs and to his room, the kitsune hot on her heels. 'Why would they have the kit's room up the stairs if he's handicapped?' He thought, shaking his head. As long as someone helped him up and down the stairs, then Naruto had no problem with the location of Sasuke's room.
He looked around, taking in the surroundings. The walls were painted a pretty shade of gray, not too light and not too dark and the boy's wheelchair propped up against it.
'So that's where it went.'
It a big queen sized bed with black sheets, a closet that was filled with various clothes, a gray door and no rug, which was understandable since the boy was in a wheelchair.
'Simple enough.'
Naruto looked up when he saw that Sasuke was already tucked in, getting a gentle kiss on his forehead from Mikoto. He let out a sound and walked around her, leaping onto the bed gently before crawling over to the boy. He curled his massive body around him, letting his head rest beside Sasuke's.
Mikoto laughed lightly before leaning over, kissing him between the ears. "Good night, you two." She whispered, walking out of the room and closing the door gently behind her. Naruto smiled before curling closer to Sasuke, purring lightly when the boy snuggled against him.
"Good night... Sasuke." He whispered before closing his eyes, falling into a peaceful sleep.
