Several days had past since the meeting with the Gray Fox now, and Drake still hadn't gotten a word from the guildmaster at all. "Did he forget about me?" He finally asked one day. Len-Ka was about to say something about keeping his voice down, but just at that moment, as if summoned, Mak-Dee entered the house, closing the door quickly behind him, and leaning on it, breathing hard. "Mak-Dee?" Drake asked, looking at the old argonian with concern and slight alarm. "What is it?" Mak-Dee smiled at Drake, and held out an envelope.
"You're first orders...from the Fox." Drake stared wide eyed at his neighbor, then at the envelope addressed to him. He took the letter, opened it, and read aloud, though quietly so nobody could hear them from outside.
"You're first task has come, Drake. I need you to be in Leyawinn Castle. Something there has disturbed me. I need you to get in there, and see what's going on. This will be dangerous. Don't be seen, by anybody.
The Gray Fox." Len-Ka stared at his son with worry and shock.
"B...But we can't send our only son in there!" He said, shaking his head and reading the note for himself. "That's like sending him to Oblivion itself!" Mak-Dee shook his head with a somewhat saddened look in his eyes.
"It's the Fox's orders, Len-Ka. Drake...must obey them." Drake stared from his father, to Mak-Dee, and back again.
"B...But Father's right! It's suicide! Everybody knows that the countess hates argonians! Including the count's steward!" He paused, then sighed and said. "I'll do it. It's probably not that hard to get in there. Who knows? Maybe this won't be as hard as it seems." He too, however, had his doubts. He couldn't help but wonder, was the Gray Fox trying to kill him off? Reenlay entered the room, a worried expression on her scaly face.
"I don't like it." She said softly. Len-Ka sighed and nodded. Mak-Dee had the look of a man who'd just recieved a death note.
"Why?" He finally asked softly. Drake looked at him with confusion. "Why did I have to be the messanger for this?" Drake looked at his neighbor with a gentle look and said.
"Don't worry about it. I'll just go get my stuff, and I'll be off. Come on, how hard can it be?" And with that, he headed to his room, gathering up every lockpick he had, which was quite a few considering the fact he hadn't done much theiving at all. Soon after, he was set, and had said his goodbyes. "I'll be back." He said with a nod as he stepped out the door. "I promise, I'll be back." And with that, and one last wave over his shoulder, he set off for Leyawiin Castle, fully aware of the danger ahead of him, and ready to take it head on.
