A/N: Written for Dec. 2nd.

There are nights when he will findtheDoctor out of bed, watching the window and the people below them. He’s watching their suffering and their struggle, watching for Martha, his little beacon of light but mostly, he’s watching the destruction and rebirth of something wonderful.

The Master will come up behind the other, get close enough so his breath makes the man shiver.

“It is beautiful, isn’t it?”

And when the Doctor doesn’t reply, because he never does, the Master throws back his head and laughs, a sound that echoes through the Valiant and the world.
