On the Run, chapter 2: Nelson On the Run.

Lisa stood, foggy eyed, but refusing to shed a tear, over her father’s grave.

“Damnit dad, why did you have to go and die” she whispered, on the verge of breaking.

It had been three long, painful years since a car crash took Homer Simpson’s life, as well as the life of Chief Wiggum.

Police had said alcohol was involved and ironically, Homer had been sober, and Chief Wiggum, drunk off his ass.

Her flashback of her father’s totaled car was interrupted, when she saw a shadow, drawing close to her, and she tensed, breathing hard, her hand flicked toward her back pocket, and her switchblade.

“Relax Lisa, I aint here to cause no trouble”, a boy’s voice said.

The voice was deep, but still held a childlike tone, and was only just deepened into manhood.

“Nelson, why are you here, Aint you supposed to be at school, beating up a nerd or somethin’, She asked, her hand almost in her pocket now.

He sighed, and looked at the ground, tongue-tied.

Finally he spoke.

“I…need you and your gang to help me”, he said ashamedly.

“Tch, you The great Nelson need our help!” Lisa exclaimed, voice dripping in poison, as well as sarcasm.

“Look, I can’t go to school, my gang stabbed me in the back, Kerney wanted to lead, so they framed me for some murder, now I’m on the run, please, if they catch me they’ll KILL me, they still have the death penalty here. I’m only 16, I don’t wanna die yet”.

Lisa thought for a moment.

“Alright, but what’s in it for me?”

Nelson smirked, and Lisa instantly knew that if she played her cards right, she could het away from her ass-hole step father forever.

“This”, she said “could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship”.
