Author's Note: Well, here's the companion fic to Moonlight. ( : This fic is actually a lot less angsty than Moonlight, but that's because it's set in the morning after and Blair as a few realizations...
Daybreak, Chap. 1:
Blair is more than a little confused as she wakes up to the bright sunlight streaming through the window, momentarily un-focusing her vision. A light trail of goosebumps make their away across her body as the cool wind hits her skin and she shivers, realizing the absence of a lithe body and flowing golden hair next to her. Her mind groggily registers that Serena must have left because her clothes are no longer strewn across the floor along with Blair’s. Inexplicably, a painful lump forms itself in her throat. Why was she getting upset about this? It wasn’t like she expected to wake up to a cuddlefest with Serena after they had sex.
Sex with Serena. She had had sex with Serena. The fully gravity of the thought was just barely reaching Blair’s mind and suddenly, a torrent of memories are gushing into her mind. They are memories of Serena’s beautiful hands traveling her body gently, memories of her lips leaving a red-hot trail behind them, memories of her electric blue gaze piercing into Blair, insisting that she let go of her unshakable control. And she had. She had let go of her body and her mind through Serena’s own vulnerability and willingness to share something so sensual with her. It had been rough and bitter the first time, but the next time around, there was a hint of something that Blair hadn’t caught onto at that moment. It was love. Pure, utter love.
Although it had been Serena who had left to Connecticut, Blair realizes that it is her that has been running all along. She realizes that she has been running from Serena’s love, a love so true and stable that it scared her. It was a love so strong and intense that it made Blair afraid to forgive her for the fear of losing control to that love. The fact of the matter, Blair discovers, is that she is pushing Serena away because of the simple fear of losing her control over the other girl, who could easily wrap her around her fingerBlair Waldorf was never wrapped around anyone’s finger, much less Serena van der Woodsen’s long, tapered one.
The abrupt realization weights on Blair like a ton of bricks because she is soon experiencing various conflicting emotions. She misses Serena’s warmth as she feels her skin cool to the touch. She wants Serena’s lips to travel all over her again to make her feel wanted, to make her feel loved. She wants to give into the addiction that is Serena and never let go. When Blair feels as though her emotions are threatening to spill over, she feels a faint vibration next to her. She picks up her phone, opening up the new text message while wondering who could possibly be up this early. Her hearts pace gradually escalates as she reads:
B,
Sorry 4 leaving u so early. I wanted 2 catch daybreak. Reminds me of u. B back soon…if u don’t mind. Miss u already.
--S.
Blair feels a warm, tingly feeling spreading from the top of her head down to the tips of her toes. She glances out of the window and gasps in awe at what she sees. The sky is painted with stunning oranges, reds, and yellows, spreading light across the ground in a breathtaking view. Everything was illuminated in bright hues, casting an already sunny disposition on the natives of New York City. It was one of the most strikingly gorgeous views that Blair had seen in a long, long time.
S,
That’s funny bc the moonlight reminds me of u…
