Legacy of the Lost

Hey, kid, what are you doin’?” a female voice proclaimed.

The ‘kid’ shook his head. “Oh, I don’t know…” he stated, his head down low.

The first kneeled down and placed her hand on his shoulder. “What do you want to do?” she asked.

He sighed. “I want…” his head lifted up, again, his blood boiling. “I just want to make all this suffering go away!” he cried out.

The female nodded her head. “You and me both,” she replied.

Standing up, she looked down upon the boy. She held her hand out, beckoning him to grab hold. “Come with me. Together, we may have a fighting chance.”

His eyes beamed. He stood up, staring into her eyes. “Promise?” he asked.

She smiled. “I promise.”

“BLAZE!!!” Silver cried out, screaming at the top of his lungs. He outstretched his hand, trying to pull her back in, but his hand passed straight through hers.

Blaze’s body became transparent. It began to rise away from the platform, high up into the air. She watched as the world gradually grew smaller and smaller. She waved her hand, watching him go. “Good luck, Silver!” she called out.

She threw on a fake smile. Perhaps he’d buy it, initially. In truth, she didn’t want to do this, but she didn’t want to cause another travesty… Iblis was her priority, her responsibility. It took her two hundred years to finally vanquish the flames. She wasn’t willing to let him go, again.

Silver watched from afar as Blaze rose high into the sky. He simply stared ahead in a dull silence, not wishing to watch, but unable to turn away, either. When she vanished into the clouds above, he glanced around in awe as the world was filled with light… a majestic light, never seen for two hundred years, flowing freely across the world…

He lowered his head, staring at the ground. What was the use, though…? The world was saved, but now he only felt alone… Without Blaze, there was no one to share it with, for she was the only other person he knew among the survivors left in the world…

Meanwhile, Blaze the Cat found herself staring around her in awe. Flickers of colorful light moved about before her very eyes; like fireflies, only appearing in all the colors of the rainbow with streams of light following behind them. She could now feel a strange sensation… Blaze realized that she must be nearing the edge of the world.

Images appeared before her eyes. She could see all of time itself, all at once, appearing among the lights. She even saw what appeared to be numerous other timelines that had been created; all at once, and all together in one massive collection of the history of the world. Not just a single history, though, but all the world’s different histories created through loopholes in time and space.

A black hedgehog looked down from a cliff side upon the vast wasteland of the world below, the only survivor after thousands of years of history. Flames lashed about, engulfing anything and everything. Iblis rose up from the ashes, reaching out, and devouring. The hedgehog just stood there, willingly allowing the beast to feast upon his flesh, consuming his body, willing himself to die along with the world, as Blaze herself watched from afar, unable to end her life.

Elsewhere, a half-robotic fox stood sternly above a crook, absolutely no emotions on his face. He was clearly a cop of some sort, seemingly from Station Square, but obviously not the same one that existed in the past of her own timeline. As the view changed, she suddenly found it out to be what appeared to be Sonic! What was going on here?!

The scene faded, though… Now she saw the black hedgehog, again, but with two others. He stood proudly at the center of a ruin, staring directly at a figure before his eyes. A battle android and a female bat stood at his side, willing to fight to the death. The hedgehog removed the two rings off of his wrists and embraced himself for a coming onslaught.

Once again, it, too, faded… She saw Sonic, again, looking out a window and into space. He looked down at his hands and whispered something. A pink hedgehog came up behind him, obviously curious as to what he was doing. He shrugged it off and promptly began to head out of the room, though quite a few others went out before him. He turned back and said one last thing before at last leaving the room.

Another image appeared… Blaze looked onward, eying the sight, curiously… A faint light glared in a hollow chamber, casting shadows on the far wall. She saw the shadows of two figures enter into the room. One was rather short and stubby; clearly some kind of anthro. This one appeared to be a hedgehog, not unlike in appearance from some of the ones she had seen earlier.

The other was taller and thin. It was a female with short hair; clearly of the human race. She stepped forward and looked forward at a small glass dome. A white flame burned endlessly within. The other one walked up beside the girl and Blaze quickly realized that it was indeed Sonic. The two talked for a bit and began to discuss the matter at hand.

Now Blaze at last saw the face of the girl. It was a face all too familiar to her. She blinked in surprise. ‘When did this happen…?’ she asked herself, stunned beyond belief. Then, though, she realized that this must have been another alternate timeline.

The girl held the glass in her hands, staring deeply into the cool flame within. She began to reach forward, but she quickly pushed it back and cried out. Blaze could not hear what she was saying, though, of course, so all she did was watched and listened.

The tears streamed down the girl’s cheeks. She seemed to cry out to Sonic, but the hedgehog just shook his head. He lifted up a finger and smiled. At this time his mouth opened, saying something, but Blaze was unable to determine just what he was saying.

The girl shook her head and dried up her tears. At last she nodded back in reply. She opened the top of the glass and blew lightly. The flame went out and darkness covered the room. The imaged faded before her eyes.

Suddenly, a strange phenomenon happened. A bright light spread across, absorbing everything in its path. It was pure white… All of time was consumed in its grasp. What was the event she had just witnessed…? It must’ve been a future event that did not yet happen in time…

Despite the stray of her thoughts, she quickly noticed that the white light continued to overtake her… It was nearing at a rapid pace… What in the world was this…?

Suddenly, her body stopped. An awkward sensation fell over her. She began to drift… She forced eyes opened as something…happened…

With a mighty force, a ripple echoed in the space-time continuum. The white light stopped. Blaze hung endlessly in the darkness, not knowing what had happened… Was this the end…? Perhaps the transportation had failed, her part torn apart… Where was she…? Her eyes continued to drift, until at last she felt them close…

Chapter 1: The Awakening

Waves washed up against the shoreline. Eyes drifting, mouth hanging… She suddenly gasped out, breathing in the warm air. Her body was soaked; her fur drenched… She opened her eyes and saw that she was now on a beach. She blinked in surprise. “Wh… where am I…?”

“’Ello there, mate!” A young, female voice called out.

She cried out, backing away. “Wh… what?!”

The girl giggled a bit. “Wah, ‘ah said ‘ello, there!” she stated. She walked up and carefully looked the cat over. “So, hou are ‘ou, then?”

The cat blinked. “Uh… I’m Blaze…” she muttered.

The girl giggled, again. “Wot are you doin’ ere?”

Blaze glanced around, surprised. What was she doing here…? She concentrated, trying to remember…

To leave the past behind me…”

Was it that light?!”

The ultimate life form…”

At long last, I will be able to join with you!”

Did your parents ever tell you the truth about Solaris…?”

The Iblis Trigger MUST die!”

He must be sealed into the Master Emerald before he can destroy the world as he did before!”

It is a transcendent life form that exists in the past, present, and future…”

Mephiles!”

I want… I just want to make all this suffering go away!”

Good luck, Silver!”

The cat slammed back into the ground. A sharp pain echoed through her head. The young girl standing nearby looked at her, awkwardly. She raised an eyebrow. “Wot is the matter with ‘ou?” she asked.

Blaze shook her head, a little more than surprised, herself. “I… I don’t remember…” she muttered, softly.

Author's Note(s): Yes, another day, another fanfiction. Told ya' I'd get this one up. Here is, of course, my new Sonic fic, Legacy of the Lost. There's also The Legend of Zelda - The Scepter of Darkness, my first full-length Zelda fic, which seems to be my most-reviewed fic thus far (sad, isn't it?). This fic is one of confusion and mishap. The story will contain many similar aspects to Sonic Rush Adventure. Two characters exclusive to SRA will also appear, though everyone else pretty much consists of OC's. Of course, you have already seen Marine. She will also appear in Chapter 2, but that is the last you'll see of her. Basically, it's only a cameo.

Additionally, I threw in another cameo. During the little flashback segments shown previously where Blaze views events throughout different timelines, one of them is a small reference to the Cy-Fox Stories.

Disclaimer: I DO own Blaze the Cat! ...well, okay, so I will as soon as it comes out... Wait, Blaze isn't getting a game?! Nevermind... I DO own Sonic the Hedgehog, though! It's on my Sega Genesis and it's very fun. Oh, wait, wait, you mean the copyrights to the characters? Well, why didn't you say so! Blaze, Silver, Marine, and anything else Sonic-related, is copyright SEGA/Sonic Team. The concepts behind Cy-Fox is owned by Miles the Cy-Fox. The concept and plot for this fic is owned by me.
