Felis Domesticus
Author’s Note: I was playing with my friend’s cat and the thought crossed my mine “I wonder what it’d be like to be a cat…” you know…just SLEEP and goof off the whole day/life. Man…pretty ideal…get fed and stuff. Yeah…just thinking, haha.
Please forgive spelling/grammar
PS: December is in the works, It’s a huge chapter sooo…this is me taking a break from it. Slight AU in the way that Riku and Sora are…rivals. More so than they already are. And I think the title means 'Domestic Cat"
“Fire? Oh…I suck at fire spells Merlin!” Sora said, dropping his shoulders in a defeated manner.
“Try again, Sora. If you never practice you’ll never master it!” Merlin encouraged. The blue eyed boy sighed, nodding and positioning his keyblade. Sora plated both feet firmly on the ground and concentrated.
“Fire!” he called out and a small flame erupted from the metal tip of his weapon, spinning around and shooting off across the room. Sora let out a small breath in accomplishment.
“FiRAGA! I said Firaga Sora! Not a Fire!” Merlin said from the sidelines.
“I’m sorry!” The brunet apologized. He frowned and looked down at the Kingdom Key in his hand. He was never going to get this spell right. “Ok…I’ll try again.” he said with more confidence. With a deep breath, Sora held his keyblade out again and concentrated once more. He felt his body tingle a bit and a larger, much illuminated fire began to emit from the tip of his keyblade. “Fire!” he shouted and the large ball of flame just continued to grow, “O-oh no!” Sora gasped.
Merlin quickly yanked out his wand and with a one two, quickly set the large fire out. Sora swallowed and lowered his keyblade. “Goodness me…” Merlin sighed, a hand over his racing heart. If he hadn’t put that fire out, god know what would have happen to the house.
“I-I’m sorry!” Sora quickly apologized. He let his key disappear and he pointedly began to express himself to the older wizard.
“No, no, it’s quite all right Sora.” Merlin assure, holding a hand up to emphasize his point. The brunet sighed and hung his head low. At this rate…there was NO WAY he would be a better magic wielder than Riku. Just the name left a bitter taste in his mouth. That cocky bastard named Riku.
When Sora entered Merlin’s school of Magic, he thought he would be getting one on one time with the famed wizard, but to his surprise he found that Merlin had another student. Sora shrugged it off though, thinking they could be friends and perhaps help each other out. But no! The other student was an absolute…terror! He insulted Sora, made fun of him, criticized his magic skills, Sora just had about enough of the silver haired teen. -No matter how handsome and debonair Riku seems.- Sora stopped his thought right there. Where in the world had that come from?
Sora’s brilliant blue eyes narrowed, muttering a slight chide under his breath. Sora scratched behind his head and decided to go find Merlin and tell the wizard he was heading home. The brunet felt like there was no way he could concentrate now with that worry over his silver haired rival.
“Merlin?” Sora called out, pushing the older wizard’s door open. “Merlin!”
Silence greeted Sora as he walked into Merlin’s office. The brunet curious looked around, oddly, Sora never really been inside of the older wizard’s office before. A cauldron sat in the middle of the room, books upon books stacked on the floor or littered the bookshelves, and a podium with a book laid open in front of the cauldron. The blue eyed boy walked around to look at the book and skimmed a finger over the aged pages. “Hm….” he tapped his chin. The page Sora was reading was teaching a user to turn a person into an animal. Sora’s mind went to work and a small smile crept on to his lips.
He could, inadvertently, change Riku into…an animal. Sora’s smile grew in size and a childish evil laugh emitted from his lips. “Perfect.” he said and began to study the spell closely. What should he change Riku into? Something humiliating to be sure, something Riku could never live down and Sora can use as blackmail. The brunette’s brain was working hard at what animal, then he smiled wickedly.
A cat.
Yes, that was perfect! Sora nodded to himself, agreeing that turning Riku into a kitty cat would suffice enough. Sora gave himself one more nod and started to practice the spell. He looked at the chair and summoned his keyblade. Could turning an inanimate object into an animal work? Sora wasn’t sure and there wasn’t any sort of warning on the book so Sora just shrugged it off. “Ok…” he murmured, looking hard at the chair.
Sora recited several lines the book gave him to say and he closed his eyes. Concentrating hard, Sora felt his energy serge through him, focusing on the tip of his keyblade. With the last line of the spell being said, Sora lifted his keyblade high and shouted the last few words and waved his Kingdom Key at the chair.
The ball of light spiraled forward, missing the chair and bounced off the mirror behind it. The brunette’s eyes widen and he ducked, but it was too late. When Sora’ opened his eyes, he felt a little off. -Why is…everything so big- he asked. He tried to stand, but nothing happened. His blue eyes blinked and looked down. -AH!- He held up his hand to find that he didn’t HAVE a hand anymore but a paw? A small white paw. -O-OH NO! I-I got hit with the spell!- Sora meowed distressed and clumsily ran to the mirror that had ricochet the spell to him. Around him his clothes pooled over him. Quickly, Sora dragged and hid his clothes in a small corner and began to panic.
Sora saw in the mirror instead of his face a tan cat with a white chin and stomach starring back at him. Sora meowed again and hung his head. Oh how embarrassing. Instead of turning Riku into a cat, he somehow managed to turn himself into a cat. This was one to keep to himself for sure. -I wonder how long this spell will last…- he thought and walked over to the podium where the book still laid. Using his new cat skills, Sora jumped right on to the podium. -Oh I can get used to this- Sora thought vaguely.
-Hm…lets see…spell…- he tilted his head and with his white paw skimmed the pages. His blue crystal eyes blinked and he sat down. -Ok…here we go. Spell will last … about twenty four hours or more!?- Sora jumped up on all fours at that. -TWENTY FOUR HOURS OR MORE!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!- Sora began to meow in a distressed manner, complete sadden now. What was he to do within twenty four hours? He couldn’t be seen like this. It was just unacceptable. So Sora opt for just hiding out here in this room. That would be easy, right? Just laying around like a normal house cat and looking around. Just play with this or that, sleep here or there, yeah, Sora could see being a cat would be easy.
All he needed to do was avoid being seen. Easy peasy lemon squeesy. So the once brunet jumped down from the podium and sauntered over to a the cauldron. Well, what was he to do now? Sora looked down at the tail that absently curled around him. -Holy…! I got a tail too!- This fascination quickly faded as boredom soon overcame the blue eyed feline. He started to head towards the door when it flew open.
Letting out a hiss, Sora’s cat reflexes made him jump back and arch over. He quickly calmed and looked up at who it was that came in. His eyes widen and he instinctive ran behind the cauldron.
Riku blinked and looked down just in time to see a tan cat run away. The silver haired teen blinked and slowly set his bag down. “A cat?” he asked out loud to himself.
Sora tensed when he heard footsteps near him. -Shit! SHIT! I-it’s Riku! He…he can’t see me like this!- Sora panicked. Then he blinked. Riku didn’t know who he was. Riku probably just thought he was a random cat. So Sora peeked around the large caldron and looked up to see Riku carefully circling around the boiling pot. Aqua eyes met blue and Riku slowly knelt down. The older male slowly reached out a hand to let the cat sniff his hand. Riku was curious as to who’s cat this was or what it was doing here. Was it Merlin’s cat?
“Hello kitty.” Riku said. Sora scoffed in his mind. -Kitty? Watch it buddy, this kitty will bite you- Sora thought in his head. As Riku’s hand neared, Sora kept stepping back. He bared his little teeth and hissed at Riku. The older male was persistent though. Riku reached for his bag and quickly dug around. Sora looked on curiously. -What is he doing?- His cat nose picked up the faint scent of food and his ears perked up.
The silver haired teen held out a piece of meat to the stray cat. Riku slowly coaxed the cat out from the safety of the cauldron. “C’mon, it’s just food.” Riku said gently. Sora’s ears picked this up and frowned he best he could. So he was nice to Cat Sora but not Human Sora? The brunet sat down and pouted. Or he thought he was pouting. “Tch, tch, tch, c’mere.” Riku tried to persuade the hard headed feline. Sora would not budge though, he absolutely refused.
The smell of the dried meat was proving difficult to turn down how ever and Sora found himself inching forward little by little. -NO! Must…resist…Riku! ARGH!- Sora started to nip at the dried meat offered to him, licking and lapping. Riku let a smile grace his lips and he started to pet and stroke Sora. The once brunet began to purr at the ministrations being bestowed upon him. Sora grew mortified. -He’s PETTING me and I’m PURRING like…like…like a house cat!- he screamed. Regardless of what his body was saying, Sora inched closer and bumps his head against Riku’s pale hand.
“You like that kitty?” Riku asked playfully with a small chuckle. -Oh god YES I like- wait…NO! No I do NOT like that!- Sora’s mind screamed. Despite his inner war, Sora purred and arched his back against that pleasure bearing hand and purred louder. “You’re a cute one.” Riku said, letting Sora take the rest of the meat in his mouth. The silver haired teen slowly shifted and picked up Sora. The blue eyed feline meowed in surprise, but Sora made no attempt to move. He just lifted his cat had and meowed at Riku.
“You’re so cute.” Riku simply and continued petting Sora. The brunet purred again and lifted his head against that hand once more. -Oh man…I’ll never be able to live this down…- Sora thought absently, but at the moment, he could have cared less. “I wonder who you belong to?” Riku asked as he scratched the under side of Sora’s chin.-Right now I belong to you…oh, scratch me again- Sora thought. He meowed up at the silver haired teen, wanting attention. -Wait! What am I DOING? I gotta stop this…this is Riku for gods sakes…- and with that, Sora swiped at Riku’s pale hand and jumped down. He looked over his shoulder to give Riku a mean hiss and ran off.
“Wait!” Riku called after. He quickly picked up his back pack and chased after Sora. The brunet was quick though and rounded a corner without a sound. His padded feet quickly ascended the stairs, his tail high in the air as his ears picked up the sounds of Riku’s feet following after him. Sora started to trot a little faster, eventually breaking into a slight run as he slipped into an open door. Blue eyes watched as Riku past the door and if Sora could laugh while in his cat form, he would have. So he just settled for a light meow.
This caused the sleeping form behind Sora to jump. Pluto raised his head and his eyes zoomed on to Sora who’s back was facing him. Immediately, Pluto’s dog senses kicked in and he slowly rose to his four paws. Sora was unaware of this, but soon his whiskers twitched and Sora turned his cat head. “MEOW!?” jumping to his four feet, Sora slowly backed up against the door and felt his fur stand on end. -Pluto! it’s me! Sora!- the brunet tried saying, but the only sound that escaped his throat was scratchy cat sounds and meow’s.
Next thing he knew, Pluto was barking at him and Sora bolted right out of the door. His first instincts were to find Riku. At least in the safety of the older and taller male would he be safe. -Riku! Riku! Rikurikurikurikuriku!- Sora chanted in his mind. Behind him, Pluto was barking like mad, chasing after him and baring his teeth.
Said silver haired teen had just about given up trying to find that cat when next thing he knew, that’s what exactly what he had in his arms. Sora had managed to track down Riku with his scent and nearly tackled him. Sora jumped into Riku’s arms and clung. Pluto came to a screeching halt as he ran into Riku. “Whoa!” the older male exclaimed as he held Sora. The brunet let his nails out as he desperately gripped Riku’s shirt. Sora turned his head and hissed at Pluto -STUPID DOG! See if I ever give you my food again!- ad with that Sora had two options.
He could, one, spend the whole day running around, trying to avoid Pluto and possibly from getting killed or two, spend his day safe and not dead with his rival Riku. Sora didn’t need to take long to decide what he wanted and opt for the latter. He pulled himself closer to Riku’s warm body and meowed as cutely as he could. Riku looked down at him and smiled warmly. This sent Sora a chill down his spine for reasons unknown. “C’mon, you’re coming with me.” Riku said affectionately, stroking Sora down his spine and scratching behind his white ears. Blue cat eyes slid shut and Sora was back to purring again. -Damn straight I’m coming with you…- Sora thought absently and just nudged Riku’s hand again.
“You’re an affectionate kitty, once you gain your trust that is.” Riku said with a smile. He promptly chided Pluto a bit and walked off to the front door. He didn’t find Merlin and left a note to send for him when ever the older wizard got back. -Huh? Oh no, if he taking me to his house?- Sora thought. -My stuff!! MY CLOTHES!- Sora meowed pathetically at this, but Riku didn’t understand him. “Are you hungry?” he asked the Sora turned cat. Sora looked up at the aqua eyed teen and meowed quietly. “You’re so cute.” Riku said, giving the cat a small squeeze. -So he has a soft side for cats…- Sora thought -I guess that’s blackmail worthy-

Sora was dropped down on the floor gently once he arrived at Riku’s place. His cat sense took over and he began to poke around. Riku watched as he shrugged off his jacket and kicked off his shoes. The cat slowly walked around, Sora’s tail in the air as he walked hesitantly around the couch. -Nice place…cozy…neat…- Sora nodded in approval. He sat down and looked at Riku, giving the older male his spoken approval. Riku smiled down at the feline and squatted to pet Sora behind the ears once again. Sora meowed appreciatively and purred softly. Riku chuckled and stood. “I bet you’re hungry.” he said.
-Eh…not really but…hell, ok- Sora thought. -Just don’t feed me that cat food junk- he though with a sigh. He followed Riku into the kitchen and jumped on to the counter. He sat patiently as he watched as Riku brought out a bowl and began to search for something edible for cats to eat. -That’s right, pamper me!- Sora thought. So what if Riku was his rival, right now all that the silver haired teen knew was that he was just some cat and he was going to feed him.
-I guess being a cat isn’t that bad after all- he thought as his tail wrapped around him. Riku looked at the tan cat and frowned a bit, “What do cat’s eat? I don’t have any cat food…” he said. -Argh…just give me whatever man…- Sora thought. Riku looked in his fridge and settled for a pack of bologna. He ripped a few bite size pieces for the feline and offered it to Sora. The once brunet looked down and sniffed at the bowl. -Ok…so you don’t get the greatest meals…- but Sora quickly eat up each piece. In under thirty seconds, he looked up at Riku, licked his lips and meowed. “More?” Riku asked, surprised at how fast the cat downed the meat product.
“Meow…” Sora said and jumped down from the counter. He slowly walked into the silver haired teen’s living room, jumping up on to the couch.
“Ok…guess not.” Riku said and tossed the pack of bologna back into the fridge and followed the cat. Sora looked up and meowed. -Ok, so you aren’t THAT bad…- Sora concluded. He just had to wonder if Riku would be this nice to him once he was human. -Darn spell last about twenty four hours…or more. I’ll hope for twenty four…- Sora looked at his paws and sighed. How embarrassing.
The minutes ticked by as Riku was settled on the couch, a purring Sora on his lap. An idle hand stroked Sora all along his body. -Mmm…right there…ah yes…God Riku, you are very good with your hands…mmm- Sora though absently. His tail swished approvingly as he butted his head against Riku’s giving hand.
“You sure are affectionate…” Riku murmured. Then he did something Sora, if he were to be a human at this point, would have definitely freaked out about. Riku leaned down and kissed the top of his head, right between his ears. If cats could blush, Sora would be doing so right about now. Sure it wasn’t on the lips or anything, but it was still a kiss nonetheless. Sora meowed softly and lightly clawed at Riku’s shirt in a kneading fashion. “I still wonder who you belong to?”
-Mnnn…at this point, I belong to you…now pet me again!- Sora said and stretched out along Riku’s lap, offering his white belly. Riku understood this and scratched along the tan cat’s stomach. This earned more purrs and soft ‘meows’ from Sora and soon he was sure he would fall asleep. Riku saw this and smiled, “I guess it is getting late. Let’s go to bed. I’ll try Merlin’s later.” Riku said. Sora jumped down and meowed.
-Wait…your room? Your BED? Am I gonna be sleeping in…your bed?- Sora froze and watched as Riku started to walk off. The older male paused and looked at Sora, “C’mon, aren’t you coming?” he asked and patted his leg. Sora walked behind the silver haired teen slowly, but still trailing behind. -Well, yes, I’ll go, but don’t you think this is a little fast in our relationship?- Sora asked. He laughed inside at this, but jumped up on to Riku’s bed. He froze and tilted his head. This won’t be that weird, would it? He looked up at Riku and immediately fell off the bed. Thankful for having cat like reflexes, Sora landed on all fours. “Whoa! Are you ok kitty?” Riku asked.
Sora had just caught Riku taking off his shirt. The brunet was having a heart attack at this point. -Holy-! He…he’s stripping in front of me!- Sora screamed. He slowly peaked his head around the corner of the bed and watched as Riku pulled off his pants as well. Sora ducked behind the mattress once more, meowing softly. -My god…is he built…- Sora thought appreciatively. He heard the bed squeak and he looked up to see Riku in a white wife beater and pajama pants. Sora thought it was safe then and jumped back on to the bed. -You know…- Sora began to think as he attentively walked along the length of Riku’s body -I don’t believe in one night stands…- The silver haired teen turned the TV in his room and on and settled under the covers, patting beside him where Sora should lay. The tan feline sauntered over to the designated spot and circled several times before settling down. “Comfortable?” Riku’s voice came. Sora looked up and meowed in approval. “Good.” the older male smiled.
Eventually, Riku fell asleep and Sora was content where he was. He was watching the TV, his tail flicking every now and then. -Hm…this feels awfully nice. Riku next to me like this and all…- Sora thought -I guess…he isn’t THAT bad…I mean…he was nice to me and all…saved me from Pluto…took care of me…hm…yeah…I guess I just got to competitive with him.- Sora yawned and stretched, his nails showing themselves then retracted. -I guess I’ll start being nice to him and stuff. I mean…I was rather…stuck up.- Sora laid his head down against Riku’s warm chest -Mmm…yeah…nice to him…nice…nice warm….warm nice…mmm- and he was asleep.

Sometime during the night, Sora stirred, his body coming into contact with Riku’s. He murmured something in his half dream state and opened his bleu hazy eyes. Sora looked down and saw Riku’s sleeping face. He smiled and reached out to brush back a few strands of silver hair with his paw when he saw his fingers. “Hu-!” he immediately slapped a hand over his mouth and sat up. -Human!- Sora exclaimed inside. He looked down at his hands and smiled, oh was he happy to be human again.
But the down side was that he was, inadvertently, naked and in Riku’s bed to top it off. Sora swallowed and quickly climbed out of bed as quietly and stealthily as possible. He quickly found a pair of pajama pants and a shirt from Riku’s pile of clothes and pulled them on. “I swear I’ll return it!” he whispered and quickly ran to the door. He paused however and looked over his shoulder.
Sora quietly walked back to Riku’s bedside and smiled, “Thanks for taking care of me.” he whispered and quietly leaned down to place a kiss on Riku’s head this time. With that, Sora quietly snuck out of his house like the cat he was.
