NY

“Bonasera.”

“Stel! It’s Calleigh!” Calleigh gushed excitedly.

“Hey Cal, what’s up?”

“You’ll never believe this! You know the weekend you and Linds have off?”

“Yeah?” Stella asked, sitting up in her bed while glancing at the clock.

“Horatio gave me the weekend off too!!!” Calleigh squealed.

“Cal, you’re at work already? It’s 5:30 in the morning…on a Tuesday!” Stella complained.

“You have to come down to Miami this weekend!!”

That woke Stella up. “You mean…YOU want ME to come down to MIAMI?”

“And Lindsay.”

“Me and Lindsay to come down to Miami?”

“Yesss… That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you for the last 5 minutes…” Calleigh said exasperated.

“Well. It’s not my fault that I’m not awake and absurdly cheerful like you at 6 in the morning.”

“Come on Stel... Please!!! It’ll be so much fun!” Calleigh wheedled.

“I’ll talk to Lindsay and we’ll think about it okay?” Stella agreed.

“I just got a call out but call me later okay? Maybe we’ll 4-way Cath and Linds…Gotta go! Bye Stel!” Calleigh finished.

“Bye Cal.”

Stella looked down at the phone in her hand, then to clock at her beside table. She threw the phone on the other pillow and slumped back against the comfy mattress. Cal…that girl is always excited about something or the other, she thought with a smile before she fell back asleep.

Miami

Calleigh walked into the break room with a gigantic smile on her face.

“Hey! My favourite CSIs! What’s up?” She sing songed.

Eric and Speed looked at each other, with wide, sleepy eyes and then turned their gaze back on Calleigh.

“Calleigh. It’s 6 AM. How can you be cheerful?” Tim grumbled sleepily.

“Well…Stel, Linds and I all got the weekend off! They’re thinking about coming down…” Calleigh told them.

“That’s great…” Eric muttered, yawning.

Calleigh’s house after work

She had just made it through the door when her phone started ringing. She dropped her purse, ran to the phone laying on her granite countertop and hit the talk button.

“Hello, this is the Attic Static Department, I’d like you to go up to your attic and see if you’re hair gets all frizzy,” the voice on the other line said in a strong country accent.

“Stel, I have caller ID you know.”

“Aww damn! You ruined all the fun!” the New York CSI pouted on the other line.

“You really need to work on the accent too,” Calleigh teased.

“I am hurt, Calleigh Duquesne,” Stella replied mockingly and then in a valley girl voice she continued, “I thought you were like my like friend but like whatever. Like obviously not.”

Both the women laughed.

“Get this. Cath has the weekend off too!” Stella shrieked happily.

“Oh my god. Are you serious? That is weird. When was the last time we all have the weekend off?”

“I don’t think it ever has happened, come to think of it.”

“Let’s 4-way Linds and Catherine,” Calleigh suggested.

Within a few minutes the four CSIs were on the phone together.

“Catherine Willows, Lindsay Monroe and Stella Bonasera, you get your asses down here this weekend!”

“Well, hello to you too Cal,” Catherine muttered dryly.

“How are we supposed to get there?” Stella inquired.

“Give me about 3 minutes and I can book your flights for you…” Calleigh offered.

“You’ll pay?” Catherine asked hopefully.

“Dream on,” Calleigh shot back teasingly.

“I’m in,” Lindsay piped up.

“She speaks,” Calleigh remarked sarcastically in mock surprise.

Lindsay’s house

Lindsay rolled her eyes and moved over to her couch, where she sat cross-legged on the brown cushion. Her boyfriend walked over and sat beside her.

“Who is it?” the guy asked Lindsay.

“Ooooh! Linds! You’ve got a guy at your house?” Catherine questioned mischievously.

“Spill it,” Calleigh demanded.

“It’s just Flack,” Lindsay said embarrassed.

“Just Flack. JUST Flack. I’m wounded Monroe,” he said loudly and directly into the phone he continued, “is that any way to treat your boyfr- “

Lindsay lunged at him and clapped her petite hand over his mouth.

“Not another word!” she hissed warningly albeit playfully.

“Ouch,” Stella commented.

“Hey Linds, put him on speaker,” Calleigh insisted.

“Fine.”

She put the phone to her chest muffling any sound from her end of the phone.

“Promise you won’t dump me after this conversation?” Lindsay asked him.

“Of course, Linds. It’s just a phone call,” Flack said sincerely.

Lifting the phone back up, she hit the speakerphone button and said, “Okay guys, we’re on speaker.”

“Who is it?” Flack repeated.

“It’s Calleigh, Catherine, and Stella,” Lindsay informed him.

“Hey Flack!” Calleigh chirped warmly.

“Hi Calleigh!” Flack responded.

Flack had met the three other women many times before. The three CSI teams in New York, Miami, and Los Vegas were very tight. He, Danny, Nick, Warrick and Eric were super great friends and it was the same for the supervisors and the girls on the team. The CSIs and detective (him being the only one) knew the other teams just as well as they knew the people on their own team.

After all pleasantries had been exchanged, the conversation boiled down to the real topic, the weekend in Miami.

“Flack, can you convince Stel to come down to Miami this weekend?” Calleigh pleaded.

“You have the weekend off don’t you?” Don asked his friend.

“Yeaaaa, but…”

“Then go! Stella you definitely need this vacation,” Flack advised wisely.

“What about you, Cath? Are you in? I mean we haven’t seen each other in AGES! We totally need this…girls weekend out!” Calleigh rambled.

“I’d love to but who would watch my Lindsey?” Catherine asked sensibly.

“How ‘bout Warrick? He loves Linds...no not you Lindsay...Catherine's Lindsey! It’s only a weekend,” Flack suggested, “and if he’s working then bring him over to your mom or sister’s house.”

“Okay, I’m in then!” Catherine said eager for the vacation.

“How about you Stell?” Calleigh asked. “We can’t have a rendezvous without you!”

“Fine…okay, I’ll come then,” Stella agreed.

Miami-Calleigh’s house

“Yessss!” Calleigh cheered.

“Okay…now that that’s done,” Catherine said.

“Flack, you break her heart and I’ll break your face!” Calleigh warned.

“Cal!” Lindsay said mortified.

“It’s okay, Linds. I understand Calleigh…and I wont do that because I love her and I’ve seen your gun collection,” Flack assured Calleigh and Lindsay as well.

“Ooh! Linds, you’ve got yourself a good one! I’m so happy you two have finally gotten together!” Catherine congratulated. “Anyone with half a brain could feel the chemistry between you too,” she gushed, “you two are perfect for each other and make the CUTEST couple!”

“I…I…have to go,” Stella mumbled.

“Yeah, me too. I’ll send you guys your itineraries later tonight. Talk to y’all later! Bye,” Calleigh said and with that the two women left the conversation.

That was weird…it almost seemed as if Stella wasn’t happy for Linds…no…it must be something else,” Calleigh thought to herself.

Calleigh opened her laptop and logged in. Pulling her computer onto her knees she relaxed against the comfy black leather couch. She had just gone to the American Airlines website when an instant message popped up on her screen. It was from Stella.

GreekGoddess94: Hey Cal…

BulletGirl 3: Hi Stel…r u okay?

GreekGoddess94: Can u book my flight so I can come down on Thursday?

BulletGirl 3: tomorrow?

GreekGoddess94: Yea…

BulletGirl 3: k…gimme a sec…

Calleigh minimized the window and explored the airline’s website. Clicking on the “Flight Availability” button, she checked what flights were available for Thursday. Seeing just one option from New York to Miami she clicked on the flight number and booked a seat for her friend.

BulletGirl 3: Ur flight is at 10AM tomorrow k?

GreekGoddess94: Kk…thanx a bunch Cal

Calleigh watched as Stella’s status became offline. There was something seriously wrong with Stella Bonasera.
