Shadow of the Day
Not much to say other than this is inspired by the song 'Shadow of the Day' by Linkin Park.

I close both locks below the window
I close both blinds and turn away
Sometimes solutions aren't so simple
Sometimes goodbye's the only way
"Your new name will be Tara Bluewood," he told her. "You'll be staying as a boarder at Kadic Academy until I've finished my business."
"Yes... father," she spat the word 'father' the same way someone might say 'fat'. He left the room, and she walked over to the window to stare at the sunset.
Sunset, the time of ending, the time when everything shut down shop until morning, when they would be refreshed and ready for the day. At sunrise. She blinked back tears, knowing she'd be in another country before that time came.
And the sun will set for you,
The sun will set for you.
And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in grey,
And the sun will set for you.
Kadic Academy
Aelita Stones, her roommate, smiled warmly at Tara when they entered the room, but the look in her eyes told Tara she wasn't happy to be her roommate. Tara set her things down then placed two bean bags- one light blue and the other white- next to her bed, in case she fell out of it during a nightmare.
"I'm sorry I have to be your roommate," Tara replied to Aelita's lying eyes.
"What? Why?"
Pink cards and flowers on your window,
Your friends all plead for you to stay.
Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple.
Sometimes goodbye's the only way.
"You don't want me to be your roommate."
"I-I do too!" Aelita stood up defensively.
"Uh-huuuuuuuh," Tara looked at Aelita doubtfully.
"I don't have to prove myself to you. I don't mind you being my roommate."
"Is that why your hiding something?" Aelita looked shocked, then frightened.
"What?"
"It's all in your eyes."
And the sun will set for you,
The sun will set for you.
And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in grey,
And the sun will set for you.
Aelita ran out of the room. That wasn't uncommon for Tara, so she strutted casually over to the full-length mirror that came with the room. A girl with elbow-length light brown hair and bright hazel eyes stared back at her. She wore white tennis shoes with blue stripes down the side. She wore a pair of tight short shorts and a blue-and-white bandana-print halter top that showed her flat stomach. At the moment her hair was pulled back into her usual ponytail, her layered bangs parted to the side. She had white streaks outlined in blue that were pulled backwards into it, but if her hair was down they'd flow to the end of her hair and there'd be a circle of them around her head.
Aelita returned when she was opening the window. She brought three boys with her and a Japanese girl.
"Hi, Tara, I'm Yumi!" The Japanese girl said.
"Uh-huh." Tara was preoccupied with pushing the window up and open. It had obviously been closed a while. She pulled aside the curtains and then pried the covers off. When the bed was empty, she threw a blue pillow on it and sat down.
And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in grey,
And the sun will set for you.
"I'm Odd, this Ulrich, and Jeremie," a cute blond said. She refused to admit she thought he was hot. She nodded her head slightly to show she'd heard him. "What brings you here to Kadic?"
"Why am I being interrogated?"
"We're just interested!" Yumi said defensively.
"Intersting subject's closed," she replied coldly, sticking in a pair of headphones from the MP3 player in her ears and laying back on her bare could here 'Shadow of the Day' by Linkin Park playing from across the room. Odd would've liked to question her more, but Jeremie's laptop started to beep and they left.
Finally, she thought, and she started to cry.
And the shadow of the day,
Will embrace the world in grey,
And the sun will set for you.
