Chapter 2: New Environment

--

Well, meeting everyone in the household of the Uchiha mansion was rather... interesting, if Naruto could say so himself. Sasuke's mother Mikoto was relatively nice to him, despite the fact that he was a demon. The black-haired man's older brother was at least decent, if not tolerant; although he did freak the kitsune out a little bit... Sasuke's father, Fugaku, on the other hand, wasn't at all that welcoming.

Upon the knowledge of Naruto being there for slave work essentially, he went full blown slave-driver on his ass. He wasn't allowed to be in the house unless necessary (except being in there for sleep), wasn't allowed to eat the meals they ate or eat at the dinner table, wasn't allowed to take a break from his work until the master permitted it, and wasn't allowed to talk to them while looking at them in the eyes.

Of course, Mikoto got on him for being so rude, but she couldn't persuade her husband to cut back on the harsh treatment, no matter how hard she tried. So, there he was, staying in a dark, damp cell in the very bottom of the mansion's basement, and sleeping on nothing but old rags.

God, that man treated him like some sort of dog! ... Of course, he was a kitsune, so he was related to the dog family, but that's straying from the point. The point was that so far, his stay at the Uchiha mansion really, really, REALLY, sucked something awful.

Naruto snarled loudly and got up from his spot on the concrete floor, pacing around the cell on all fours. The chains of his shackles rattled as he went back and forth, the claws tipping his fingers clicking against the rock-hard cement with an offbeat rhythm. "God, this sucks. First, the Uchiha kid gets an erection in the car, then the Fugaku dude goes off for practically nothing, and now this!" He growled, stopping his pacing to fold into a crouched position. He stared through the steel bars for a moment before smirking to himself, rolling his eyes. "Although, that Sasuke was pretty cute..." He mused, an image of the black haired man popping up in his mind.

The kitsune sighed, shaking his head and beginning to pace again. “But still, that doesn’t help me in any way. I’m still trapped in here with reinforced bars, preventing any hope for escape if I wanted to…” He stopped, cerulean blue eyes darting upwards and staring out through the bars.

He stayed silent for a moment before crouching again, speaking up in a clear voice. “I can see you as clear as day, you know. I am a kitsune.” He said, chuckling when he heard a sound of surprise. The person who made the sound emerged from the shadows, revealing himself to Naruto.

“You know, it’s not nice to spy on others, Sasuke.” He commented, raising an eyebrow. Sasuke turned away from the kitsune and snorted. “Unless you came down here to see me, of course.” The Uchiha snorted once more, turning to face the kitsune. “I didn’t come down here to see you, dobe.”

“Well then, why did you come down here? It’s kinda late for you to be walking around the mansion.” Naruto said, blinking as he stared at the man before him. Sasuke rolled his eyes before gazing at the kitsune, giving him a quick once over; Naruto smirked at the knowledge of the noticable attraction. "I live here, stupid. What's wrong with me walking in my own house at night?"

"Nothing; the fact that you came down here is what's nagging me."

Sasuke's eyelids jumped, causing Naruto to narrow his eyes. "And you aren't allowed down here while I'm here. Your father commands it..." Finally, the Uchiha snorted, crossing his arms. "I care not of what my father orders of me." Naruto raised his eyebrows, quite surprised. "Oh?" Sasuke gave a curt nod. "Besides, I have questions I want to ask." "Why not ask your brother or mother?" Naruto asked, but was answered with a shake of the head from the Uchiha. "Only you can answer these questions I have."

"Well then, shoot."

"Why didn't you escape from my grip when we left the auction?" Sasuke asked, turning his gaze away briefly. "You are... stronger than me..." He added reluctantly, growling slightly. Naruto merely shrugged. "Why escape? It's not like I something better to do, much less a home to return to..." He answered with a lowered voice, his ears lowering slightly. Sasuke's brows furrowed, looking at the kitsune with dark eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"It means that I have no home, nowhere to go if I do escape. So what's the point? Besides--," He said, shifting from his crouch to a sitting position, "despite Fugaku, this place isn't to bad; it's a hell of a lot better than that nasty cell I was staying in at when I belonged to that other man. Plus, I think you're an interesting person to be around." He finished, letting loose a very toothy yawn. The last statement caused Sasuke to let out a sound of disbelief, eyes going slightly wide.

Naruto, the very kitsune demon, Kyuubi, found him interesting?

Now, mind you, if he was a female, Sasuke would be blushing so bad that it put a tomato to shame at this point. But seeing that he's not a chick, his cheeks only tinted slightly, going along with an embarressed cough.

Oh yes, very unnoticable, indeed.

Trying to make the slight blush disappear, Sasuke asked his other question. "That spiral scar on you stomach, it looks like some sort of seal; why is that?" The Uchihas were known to be mostly fearless of anything, but that reputation was just put to shame when Naruto whirled around.

His eyes had shifted from cerulean blue to crimson red, the blood colored orbs swimming around a slitted pupil in the center. His fangs and claws, if possible, had grown even longer, sharper, making the sharpest blade of a sword look very dull. The whisker-like scars on his cheeks seemed to become darker and rougher and, with the fact that his eyes seemed to be more foxy, made him look like a dangerous demon.

More so, a dangerous kitsune.

Sasuke was so startled of the sudden change that he actually jumped away from the cell, eyes wide and breath quickening. Black orbs stared at the kitsune with apprehension, the fear only growing when Naruto let out a growl.

"None of your fucking business!!" The kitsune snarled, snapping his fangs together to make a loud clanking sound. His growls and snarls stopped, however, when he faltured as he stared at Sasuke. His appearance reverted back to normal (as normal as it came for Naruto) and he plopped down to the concrete, letting out a slight sound akin to a guilty whimper.

"...Sorry." He whispered, his voice rough and low. Sasuke reclined from his rise of fear, the fright shifting into slighly guilt. "I didn't know it was a personal subject for you..." He said, looking at the kitsune. Naruto let out a sigh that was filled with exghaustion, giving the impression that he was tired. "That's... that's enough questions for tonight, and I have to get up really early in the morning." He started, lying down on the rags. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, Sasuke." He whispered, closing his eyes.

Sasuke stared at the kitsune for several minutes before sighing; he wasn't going to get an answer for the last question anytime soon, especially since it seemed personal. With another sigh, he turned around, starting to walk down the dark hall.

"...Sasuke..." Upon hearing his name, the Uchiha stopped, looking over his shoulder to see the blue eyed demon. "I'll answer your question... when I feel up to it. I owe you that much, especially since you've been the most tolerant of my presence. Okay?" Sasuke gave the kitsune the slightest smile, but it was pure all the while.

"Whatever, dobe."

And with that, he walked down the hallway, leaving Naruto to stare after him. The kitsune smirked afterwards, raising an eyebrow. "Don't call me a dobe, boy. You'll never know when I feel like changing your mind..." He whispered, his fangs glistening as he grinned, despite his slightly fowl mood.

This Uchiha kid was very interesting, indeed.

Meanwhile, unknown to both Sasuke and Naruto, Fugaku was currently pacing in his work room, letting out a series of curses. The man in the room with him only watched with amusement, an eyebrow raised as the Uchiha would occasionally stop to growl, before starting his pacing again.

"Fugaku, I don't see the problem in having the kitsune; actually, I think you are a fool in being upset about it." Said the man. Fugaku whirled and glared at him, anger rising as he heard the comment. "I am not mad for having the kitsune, it is my son I'm mad at. He deliberately disobeyed me, just to buy a monster!"

"And indeed, this kitsune is a monster... a powerful monster that anyone would die to have. You are just too blind by your hunger for power to see the true potential of having this sort of strength." Fugaku, once again, glared at the calm man, watching as he pushed his glasses back up with utter disgust.

"And I suppose you, Kabuto, know the potential in having this demon?" He said sarcastically, rolling his eyes as Kabuto merely chuckled. "As a matter of fact..." The white haired man reached into his pocket and pulled out a card, placing on the work desk before him and Fugaku. "..I do. Read this card."

He hesitated for a moment, but curiousity got the better of the Uchiha, driving him to pick up the little card and flip it over. His eyes skimmed the dark, typed words on it, his brows furrowing in something akin to confusion when he was finished.

"The Demon tournament? You want me to enter the Kyuubi into this... this disruptive so-called sport?" He asked, somewhat disgusted at the thought. Kabuto simply nodded, smirking. "Yes. Think about, Fugaku; this is a world wide competition, and many demon owners around the world participate in it. If you enter your demon as proporty of the Uchiha, and win, then your ratings with double... no, triple, because of three main points from all of this."

Kabuto held up one finger. "Number one, the Kyuubi is the strongest demon alive, and is a much experienced fighter I'm sure. On top of that, he's the demon lord. Anyone would pay just to get a glimpse of him." He held up two fingers. "Number two, this tournament will pay anyone to get many attractions. If you bring the Kyuubi, and if he wins the tournament, then they will be sponsered by you, and it will increase your income of money by rates you never thought possible." He held up three fingers. "And, lastly, number three. Owning the Kyuubi means power... so, is you own him, you basically can own anything you want, just by entering this tournament. They will give you anything just to see him perform, just to get the stadium filled with as many people as there are in Tokyo. With the kitsune, the chances of that will be much higher, meaning a much higher chance for you to be able to own just about every company in this country, if not the world."

Kabuto smirked as the shock passed through the Uchiha's eyes, before standing up, stretching his back out.

"I understand that you may need to think about this all, so I will give you three days; in three days, the tournament starts. The sooner the answer, the better." He offered, patting Fugaku's shoulder before heading towards the door.

"Until the next time we meet, Fugaku."

And with that farewell, Kabuto left, leaving the Uchiha leader to think of the things most likely promised in this all, just because of one demon. A small smirk formed across his lips, eyes narrowing. The possibilities, there were so many of them with the luck on his side.

Who was he to not take advantage of that?
