A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory
a far-off memory that's like a scattered dream,
I want to line the pieces up - yours and mine...

That’s how all her dreams started. She would hear those words while she found herself walking around in darkness for what seemed like hours. She was suffocating with fear, she hated being in the darkness alone, she could sense something watching her every move, listening, waiting…

Finally she sees a door at the end of the trail, once she got to it, she opened the door, and there was a burst of light that blinded her so she covered her eyes. Once the bright light was gone, the sound of the ocean came to her ears; she opened her eyes and saw that she was on a beautiful Island surrounded by clear tropical water. This place looked familiar to her, like she has been here before, but her head throbbed as she thought about it. She let it slide as she went to near the ocean and sat down in the warm sand. She relaxed as she felt the sun beat down on her skin as her blonde hair blew gently in the wind. She stood up and couldn’t help but walk into the water, she looked down to see her reflection, and she was surprised at what she saw. She looked younger, than her average fifteen year old self.

“Hey Kimi-Chan!”

She turned around, her train of thoughts broken; she tilted her head in a confused manner, whispering “Kimi-Chan?” as if she heard it from somewhere. She turned and saw the boy who called out the name, she could tell he had brown spiky hair, but she couldn’t see his face. He ran up to her with an excited smile. He was calling her?

She wasn’t in control of her actions, “Hi So—!” she shouted back. His name cutting off, not being able to hear the whole thing, but deep down you knew what the name was.

“Come on Kimi, Ri— is waiting for us at the Papou Tree”

Papou tree… She thought, she heard that from somewhere before, but where? “Okay I’ll be there in a minute.”

“Okay!” he said happily and ran off to the Papou tree.

She stood there thinking about how she was going to tell her friends, that…That she was moving. The young girl sighed, and gathered up all her courage, and headed over to the bent tree. As she got to the tree she sees the boys waiting for her one. The more the girl thought about it, this seemed more like a memory, than a dream...

‘BEEP BEEP BEEP’

I slammed the snooze button for the fifth time that morning, to shut it off. Soon I was dozing back to sleep, not even thinking about the dream. “Leena! Get your ass out of bed!”My older sister Cassandra yelled through the door. Cassandra isn’t really my sister, heck, we don’t even look alike. She has stunning red hair, and bright emerald green eyes, while I had soft blonde hair, and blue/green eyes. Cassandra and her parent adopted me when I was eight; I lost both my mother and father in a car accident, and me being the sole survivor. The thing is that I don’t remember anything; I don’t even remember what my mother and father looked like. Anyways Cass is about seven years older than, which makes her twenty-two years old, and me and her live in Surrey, while her parents live in Vancouver. “Do you have a hot guy with you?” I called back.

“No,” She answered, in a tone as if she heard the stupidest thing ever.

“Then go away!”

“Ugh, DON’T make me go in there!”

I shot up, not wanting to experience the whole cold water thing again, “I’m up, I’m up!” As you can tell I’m not a morning person. I don’t understand today why I have to get up early, it’s the last day of school and also last day of Exam, BUT the exam is after lunch and then I’m free! I laid in bed for a second, remembering my dream. I’ve been having them more and more, the weird thing is, the people in them are from Kingdom Hearts, “I’ve got to stop playing Kingdom Hearts before I go to bed,” I mumbled.

I threw the sheets off, and looked at the time. The numbers flashed 8:10am, I shrieked, “I’M GOING TO BE LATE!” I quickly did my morning routine, and got dressed into what ever I grabbed from my closet, brushed my hair, I examined myself one more time, thinking I looked good. Running into the kitchen, I grabbed a piece of toast. Before I was out the door I heard Cassandra telling me not to be home too late. Luckily we lived pretty close to the school, I made into homeroom just before the bell rang.

I sat down beside my best friend Kaily; she had gorgeous dark brown hair that went to the middle of her back, and soft chocolate brown eyes. She maybe over dramatic sometimes, but that’s why I love her. “I thought you were going to be here at lunch,” She whispered, as the teacher did attendance.

“I thought so too, but Sandra had other plan...” I groaned.

Nothing much happened during classes; really all they did was give us a study block. Soon the bell rang for lunch. Kaily and I were walking to our usual spot, meeting up with Tyler, outside under a tree, to eat our lunch. AS we pasted through the Cafeteria, I was thinking about all the dreams I’ve been having, they couldn’t mean anything could they? I was pondering too much on the idea that I could even hear that Kaily was trying to get my attention. “Aaliyah, Aalie, AALIE!” She shouted, in my ear, causing me to winch, I glared at her. She gave me an innocent look, which soon turned to concerned, “You alright, you’ve been spacing out a lot lately,”

“Yeah I’m fine, I’m just thinking,” I answered.

“What? Were you thinking about Jake,” She teased. I blushed. Jake was my crush, I’ve liked him since last year, he’s really sweet, but he doesn’t really notice me, well he is older, and he is going to be senior next year. I snapped out of it, “No!’ I exclaimed, pushing her.

“You so were!” Oh how wrong she was.

“Look, can we just forget about this, Tyler is waiting for us,” I said, walking ahead of her, she notice something was wrong, by the tone of my voice, she wanted to ask, but she decided against it. We found Tyler sitting at our usual spot, already eating. Tyler is a pretty good looking guy, messily spiked sandy blonde hair, and nice green/grey eyes. I can tell he and Kaily like each other, but their too stubborn to admit it. We sat down, joining him, and just started talking about random thing. “So Aalie did you beat Kingdom Hearts 2 yet?” Tyler asked while taking a bite of his sandwich.

“Yes! I finally did last night.” I cheered, wanting to get up and do a happy dance.

“YES! Finally you can shut up about it.” Tyler said, getting excited. Yes I always blabbed about Kingdom Hearts (KH), I can’t help it, to my friends, I’m considered the ‘Disney Queen’, and when I saw KH I bought it!

“Nope, I’m just going to start it all over again!” I said in a happy tone just to piss Tyler off.

“Ugh, I bet you’re only starting over again just so you can watch Sora, get over him, he’s just some made up character whose been taken by a priss that wears pink, why not, go for someone like Link!” Kaily said. As anyone can tell, she loves Legend of Zelda. She always got annoyed when I talk about Sora, since I talk about him a little too much. But I couldn’t help it, every time I look at him or any other of the characters, it like somewhere deep in my heart, I once knew these people.

“Yup!” I said happily, both of them did an anime fall. “But Kaily, Link, Also has a ‘priss’ that wears pink…Zelda,” You told her, “And in Twilight Princess, he has Ilia,”

“Come on Aalie I know you like Sora but not that much?!” Kaily yelled, ignoring my comments; to her Zelda and Ilia don’t exist. Same thing with me…Kairi does not exist… If only that was true... A thought came from deep within my heart, there was so much hatred towards her, it was like she really was real, and that she stole something precious to me.

“I don’t know why I like him so much, I feel like I’ve met him or someone like him before.” I said thinking about it, but nothing came to me. The bell rang indicating that it was time to go back inside, and take the exam, and get out of here!

The Exam wasn’t so bad, I think I could’ve done better, but whatever, as long as I don’t fail, I’m okay. I walked back home, I notice that there was no car in the drive way, meaning Cassandra wasn’t home yet. With my key, I opened the door, and headed into the living room and plopped down on the couch, turning the TV on. Soon I felt a migraine coming along; I’ve been getting a lot of those lately. I sighed and decided to take a nap. I turned off the TV, and headed upstairs, and into my room, changed into some comfortable clothes, and collapsed on my bed. Soon sleep contained me.

I was back at that same Island again; I was sitting at the edge of the deck, looking at my reflection. I could see that I looked like I was about eight. I soon realized that this was me, before the accident, but why was I at Destiny Islands. In my reflection I saw that tears were running down my face, obviously I was crying…Why? I know it wasn’t for the loss of my parents. I looked out in the distance and saw two familiar looking boys…They were playing with another girl with short red hair and blue eyes. I felt hatred toward that girl, hatred that she took my two closet friends away from me, especially ----. I like the new girl and all but, she was really nice, but I feel like she replaced me, it’s like she took my life away. Sometime I wished that I never introduced her to ---- and ----. I was just sitting on the dock watching the ocean when I heard two different foot steps coming my way. One sat down on my left while the other sat on my right. I turned to see who they were, two females, they looked at me sympathetically. They knew how close I was with them especially with ----, how could he just leave me behind, and throw me away like trash. I’m here for only a month and there he is, spending time with her. I can’t help but feel but feel hatred toward that girl...

I felt someone shake me awake, “WAKE UP!” I heard Cassandra scream in my ear, causing me to fall out of bed. I glared at her, is everyone trying to make me deaf? “What?” I answered, still hearing the tiredness in my voice.

“Start packing.” She said.

“For what?”

“It’s a surprise!” Cassandra said happily, I rolled my eyes. I hated surprises. “So hurry up because were going to be leaving in an hour or so.” Before I could even say a word she ran out the door to do her own packing or something. After about a half an hour of packing, I went down stairs to get something to eat; I got in the kitchen, my stomach growled a little, I opened the fridge door and looked to see what there was to eat. My jaw dropped when I saw inside it. “Aww…What?!” I whined. The Fridge was basically EMPTY! Cassandra came in to the kitchen, she laughed when she saw me gawking at the empty fridge. She laughed “Here, I made you this before Michael packed everything up I figured you’d be hungry.” She said giving me a simple Sandwich. Damn that Michael, he left for Tulameen, and took my baby this morning...I forgot about that. Michael is Cassandra’s boyfriend, they’ve been dating ever since high school, and he still hasn’t popped the question....What’s taking so long! After eating I decided to help Cassandra pack up. So we packed what we needed, then out of nowhere Cassandra came up behind me and put a blind fold over my eyes, “What the hell, Cassandra!” I yelled.

“What? I said it’s a surprise.”

“You know I hate surprises!”

“Yeah, but, you’ll love this one! And if I see you with that the blind fold off, one of us is going to get hurt bad, and it won’t be me” She warned. I gulped and nodded. Cassandra led me through the forest behind our house, I bet your wondering how I know that, I hear the sound you hear when you step on sticks and dirt. So she’s leading me somewhere through the forest and for what reason I don’t know…Finally we stopped, Cassandra left my side then you hear some kind of automatic door opening, what the heck is that?! Do we own a UFO!? Once the noise stops Cassandra leads me again helping me, making sure I don’t fall flat on my face. “What the hell are we doing?!” I asked/yelled, again.

“Ahh, Leena calm down!” Cassandra said getting annoyed for the fact that I asked that for the millionth time. She led me inside the… well I don’t know lets just say our UFO. Our stuff was already inside. She led me to my seat, and buckled me up. I felt like a child who couldn’t do it on their own. I could tell this is going to be a long ride, so I got out my IPod out of my pocket; this is one thing I cannot live without. During through this whole ride I tried to take off the blind fold a couple of times, but every time I did Cassandra would yell at me about ‘spoiling your surprise’ of course I didn’t care so much about it, but I just left it as it is, not wanting to face her wrath. I soon grew bored, and felt my eyes close, and fell asleep.

Cassandra turn to look at Aleena to make sure she didn’t try take off the blind fold again, but she saw that Aleena fell asleep, Cassandra was thinking about Camille’s will that she had found last week, when she cleaned out the crawl space that was in Aleena’s room, it read ‘I would like my dearest friend Ellaina to be the Guardian of my Daughter Aleena’

She sigh, “She’s going to be so mad at me…” she said while looking at her. After flying the Gummi Ship for 3 hours Cassandra saw Destiny Islands. “Well I got to wake her up.”

“Leena come on wake up, were here.” I hear Cassandra say while shaking me softly, I was about to take off the blind fold when Cassandra stopped me, I groaned. She grabbed your hand and said, “Not yet,” I just simply nodded not really in the mood to argue. She once again led me out of our UFO. Stepping off the platform and stepped on what felt like sand, I could feel the hot sun beat on my skin, I can hear the sound of the ocean come to my ears. I’ve always loved beaches, though the ones in British Colombia don’t have the nicest beaches… well except in Tofino but I’ve only been there twice. Well Anyways I was getting excited for that I wanted to know where I was. Maybe Sandra was right, I will love this surprise.

“Cassandra?”

“Hmm..?”

“WHERE THE HELL ARE WE!?”

“You’ll see,” she said in a sing song voice. After a half an hour of walking Cassandra stops, I hear her knock on someone’s door, hearing someone open the door and say, “Oh you’re here! Come on in!” I hear a middle aged women say happily. She sounded so familiar... Cassandra grabs my hand and leads me to a room; she got behind me, removing the blind fold

“SURPRISE WELCOME BACK!” Everyone in the room screams. I jump in surprise, seeing all these familiar, yet unfamiliar faces at the same time. I got scared not expecting that to happen. I realized that they said. “Welcome back?” I was beyond confused,

“Wait…You don’t remember,” I heard someone that sounded strangely familiar say in a sad tone, I turn to the person who said it, it was……ROXAS! “Remember WHAT?! Cassandra where are we, is this some Joke?!” I said freaking out. What the hell is going! These cannot be cosplayers, they are way too good! But inside I was hoping they were.

“Aleena this is no joke, this is Destiny Island, and well… This is your true home…”

“WHAT?!” I said surprised. I felt upset and betrayed because the life that I thought I knew was a lie. Right now I was hoping that Andy would come out and say, ‘You’ve just been pranked by the prank patrol’. But it wasn’t happening. I had to get out of here.

This is why I hate surprises...
