A/N: The idea with this fic is trailing the footnotes, as the title so eloquently says. I had it after reading one fic, with a ton of footnotes over on the HOUSE MD section, by an author calling herself ”JennifferButterfly” called ”The Footnote Fic”. I found that one hilarious and wondered if I could pull that off, so I started to work on the first installment, as in the first chapter.

The idea is not so much the story, in itself, but it is about putting so much into the story, that needs explaining. So after each thing that needs explaining, there's an according number, with explaination, you can find just below. It's so much more funny that way. And if I have left some explainations out, don't fret, because they'll come in future chapters, if I get the go ahead to continue from you out there. Hope this is both funny and in general entertaining.

This is a two part first chapter and for now, I'll just see what you all think about it. A Work In Progress, that I'll work on, when I need my mind off of the other more serious fics I'm writing on.

Trailing the Footnotes

Chapter 1

Dr. Temperance Brennan(1) entered the elevator car(6) and pressed the button, that would lead her to the floor, where her partners(8) office was. Seeley Booth(9) had called her earlier and asked her to come by, since he had something to talk to her about. She wondered what it could be, since they had had no cases to investigate(12) lately. It was as if Washington D.C.(13) was at a drought, where crimes was concerned. Or it could be, that nothing was found, that warranted her help. She didn't know and soon she walked through the bullpen(15), where other Agents just seemed plain bored. She saw her partner bend over something and knocked onto the doorjamb(16).

1: Dr. Temperance Brennan is a Dr.(2) in forensic antrophology(3).
2: Obtained by getting a Doctorate(4).
3: She knows how and when someone have died by looking at a skeleton.
4: You obtaing something like that, after years of studying(5).
5: You either go to school to study, or just research by yourself.
6: Not actually a car you drive(7), but something that gets you from one floor level to another in a building
7: You do that in a car on the roads.
8: A partner is many thing, but in this case, it's a partner with whom you solve crime.
9: Seeley Booth is a Special Agent(10).
10: Special Agent is many things, but in this case, he is an FBI(11) Special Agent.
11: FBI stands for Federal Bureau of Investigations.
12: FBI investigates crimes.
13: This is the capital city of the USA(14).
14: United States of America.
15: An open office space.
16: The side frame of the hole in where a door goes when it is being closed.

”Oh hey Bones(1)!” Booth said after seeing who was at his door.

”Hey Booth(2)!” She greets her partner and steps into his office(3), You wanted to see me?”

”Yes,” Booth said as she sat down in a chair, located on the other side of his desk, ”I'm taking tomorrow off(7) since Parker(8) is staying with me this week and I wanted if you wanted to do something with us, if I can drag(9) you out of the lab?”

”Where is it that Rebecca(10) went?” Tempe asked him.

”She went to see some old classmates(12) of hers.”

”Oh,” Tempe(17) suddenly remembered.

1: Bones is what he calls her, instead of her name, because of what she does and she used to hate it, but not anymore. At least we don't think so...
2: Booth is the only thing she ever calls him.
3: He has his own office, being in charge of the Homicide Investigations Unit(4).
4: This is a division dealing with horrific crimes at J.Edgar Hoover building(5).
5: This is the FBI Headquarter named after its first director(6), who served for 48 years.
6: This means he was the one in charge of it all there.
7: He is not taking something off literally, it just means that he won't go to work.
8: Parker is the name of his five year old son.
9: He means if she is willing to take the day off too, not meaning that he'll physically make her leave the lab. Thought he seems to want to do that at times...
10: Rebecca is Booth's ex-girlfriend(11), who is the mother of Parker(8).
11: Ex as in they're not together anymore.
12: Those are the ones you went to school(13) with.
13: A school is where you learn to read letters(14) and write(15), as well learning how to deal with numbers in math(16). As well as a lot of other things.
14: So you know what all these weird things squiggly things in a book are.
15: You learn to put the weird squiggly things in the above book together, so they form something you understand over time.
16: Here you learn to put numbers together and make something out of them.
17: Almost forgot, that that is what she calls herself, since she can't very well call herself Bones or Brennan.
