A/N: I don't own Foxtrot but it is my favorite comic EVER!!! I thank Bill Amend for writing this wonderful strip I read each morning.

How It Was, and How It Is:

"Jason I asked you a question!"

Jason Fox looked up to see his physics teacher, Mr. Freeman. Mr. Freeman reminded Jason of a frog with a large round face and body, and a croaky voice. Jason was a senior at his highschool and the youngest in his family. His older brother, Peter, six years older than himself failed out of college and became a rockstar, and married his highschool girlfriend, Denise. His older sister, Paige, began dating Morton Goldthwait, the boy she constantly tried to avoid, in eleventh grade and as a result of being around the "genuis" she graduated from high school with high honors.

"Um... could you repeat the question?" Jason asked nervously. He was afraid because until his senior year in high school he had been in the top of his class. He was mad at Mr. Freeman for always asking him questions he obviously couldn't answer, to make the class laugh.

"The question was give me a way to demonstrate the Meissner effect." Mr. Freeman said clearly annoyed.

"I don't know sir." it was obvious Jason was sad and angry at himself for not studying the night before.

"Real surprise there" Mr. Freeman said just loud enough for the class to hear giving them a chance to snicker under their breath. "Marcus, can you give me the answer?"

"Yes sir. One way to demonstrate the Meissner effect is to simply place a magnet above a high-temperature superconducter, the magnet will then levitate because the superconducter will expel its magnetic flux." Marcus Jones had been Jason's best friend until this year, when because of Jason falling behind, Marcus became the top student, and he was NOT going to let that go. Marcus was African-American, tall, slim, and smart.

"Very good Marcus. Now I am handing out the tests from last week and once again Marcus has the top score."

The class groaned, Marcus always got the highest grade.

"Mrs. Jacobeson good job, Mr. Riley good job, Mr. Fox." Mr. Freeman placed a test on Jason's desk with a large 42 circled on the top. Then the bell rang.

"Okay class, for homework using what Mr. Jones told us about the Meissner effect think about what you will do for our experiment in class tomorrow."

Jason groaned, he knew he would fail that also, and his parents were already mad at him. He decided to stall getting home and ran into a bathroom and sat in a stall tears silently streaming down his face. He was usually sad now a days due to the fact of loneliness. He never could figure out why he started failing school, but he never tried to think about it.

Flashback:

"Well done Jason a 108" Mrs. O'Mally, Jason's teacher, smiled at him, and he grinned happily. It was another above perfect score. Jason turned around and gave a big thumbs up to Marcus who now looked shorter.

End Flashback

Tears were now streaming down Jason's cheeks, which were red and wet from sobbing. when he heard soft knocking on the stall door.

"Hey Jason, it's me Marcus. I'm just letting you know that I'm sorry for not talking for a while, but this whole being the top student thing has gone to my head. So if you ever want to get together just give me a call."

When he heard this Jason felt a warm happiness in his stomach. He then walked out of the stall and tapped Marcus on the shoulder.

"Well I just can't seem to grasp the whole Meissner effect thing, do you want to come over and help me with it?"

Marcus turned around and simply said, "Sure let's go."

Okay this is my first story so I'm not opposed to criticism because it should help me.

Review PLEASE!!
